    Even more than pay, I want something done about the behaviors. The behaviors are more out of control than I have ever seen in my 25 years of teaching. I’m talking about from kindergarten all the way up- Swearing at us. Spitting on us. Pushing us. Threatening us. Talking back to us. Walking out of the classroom. I’m not talking about one or two students either. Sometimes you have 5 or 10 kids in a classroom who do not want to be at school and they demonstrate it. The level of sexualization is unbelievable to me. The vulgarity is over the top. The fighting. The over the top drama- Highly defensive. Highly reactive. lack of Self-control. Often these are also the same behaviors the parents show-

    Poor pay, poor treatment, poor behaviors, and low standards for students"THEY QUIT" I listened to a Jamican teacher that was was recruited to teach in America stated she felt bad that she looked at her low students as low. But when she got to America, her low students in Jamaica would run circles around high students in America. She said she wanted to apologize to those students in Jamaica.

How many of us can look back and not identify one teacher that impacted us in a profound way? It is sad to see the poorly paid, disrespected, dangerous and thankless profession teaching has become. IMHO Teachers deserve all the gratitude, respect and money their hearts and hands can hold.📚🥂💐

    • @kimberlyjones2749
      @kimberlyjones2749 11 місяців тому

      Sometimes it Is in reverse: no gen Ed teachers and spec Ed teachers are forced to serve as both. This year we have a class of kids that haven't gone a single year with all four content teachers. This year the students are tested in all four contents and they have no math teacher or science teacher. The school has no grade level administrator and not enough "points" to get one. How is that possible??!!??!!
      Society will continue to deteriorate as long as we are more committed to gun laws than education.

    • @travcollier
      @travcollier 11 місяців тому +2

      Mixed special ed and regular kids can work great, but not for all special ed (or all regular) kids and you need more teachers and aides in the classroom. My kid went from special ed K to advanced classes in middle school (and no IEP anymore). But we got really lucky to be in a place with a ton of support into those first few years. It isn't cheap or easy, but it can pay off long term.
      I'm not convinced that kids who need special ed are the problem though. Even back in my day, those regular classes were a nightmare. The honors/advanced classes were the only decent ones.

    Im glade too! I’m a parent who went into the School system before my children started school to get an idea of what to expect; which areas had the better resources and supplies, how the teachers and staff were supported, and how to support my children’s needs. I’m still here (left and came back) and I’m ao happy that all employees especially teachers have other options! Unfortunately for the entire world it’s the teachers who took the job for the wrong reasons who will be the ones left and that is the real tragedy!

    They gotta fix the salary schedules because they’re rigged against many experience teachers who would go back but they’ll only put them on a low step on the “initial placement “ salary schedule -pay them for 6 to 10 years experience when they may have 15 or 18!!! Give them year for year experience on the salary schedule and you’ll have some teachers back!!!😊😮😂

    They'll lower the qualifications for teacher positions. Which in turn will result in students receiving lower quality educations. When these students are adults and don't become contributing members of society??? Maybe then they'll start giving teachers their due credit. They have our children more than we do during waking hours. They should be supported 100%.. when the foundation has no support the whole building crumbles.

    My daughter graduated with her bachelor's in Biology, May of 2020. Decided to teach a year later since the 'demic threw her plans off. She did it for a little over 2 years and hated it but she loved the children and that's how she was able to make it that long. 4th grade Math and Science and that lady who said it killed her to leave her kids, that's exactly what my daughter told me, she loved those children like they were her our and she said they aren't truly teaching the children, admin is a nightmare and they don't listen to the teachers. She quit last September, a month after school started, got a job at a hospital and went back to school to continue her education in her medical field.

    Well, maybe the districts/states will finally realize “Oh crap!! We need teachers bad! What can we do to get them to come back or for people to come to this profession? Maybe we should pay them quite a bit more, give them better benefits and have a zero tolerance policy of disrespect towards teachers and other students (bullying)”. The school boards need to stop giving themselves raises they DO NOT DESERVE and give them to the teachers to get them to stay!! This might sound bad but I would be quite amused if 90% of the teachers in these districts went on strike or quit!! Make the school boards panic so they take action and have no choice but to meet the teachers demands!! 😂💯💯

    Too much pressure on teachers, from all sides! Add no discipline, no money, constant demands... Rethink the system and let teachers be treated like the professionals they are. Pay them, protect them, and stop monitoring them! I was a teacher for over 20 years and the system was always bad. It just got worse!!!!
