Power Song. I don't even like Van Halen (or Humans Being at least) all that much. But the orchestral intro always pumps me up so hard, I love it, I listen to it often.
My mom had a red pickup truck for years. Immediately after getting my license any time I was allowed to drive that truck would blast this song on the radio. 😅
Probably the most exciting scene in the movie because there isn’t an actual tornado. It’s the anticipation. This scene encompasses a whole vibe of storm chasing. That helicopter shot of the water tower is the most “Oklahoma” thing ever captured on film, and the film score is just a cherry on top.
1:26 that air shot from helicopter completely mesmerized me, along with the music, rewinded this scene a few times on the VHS because of the adrealine it builds up. ✌
When I was a teenager, I didn't like Melissa. But now, decades later and fast approaching 40, I really like her. She's so much more than "just" a dressed-up doll and I wonder how she ended up with Bill because he doesn't actually suit her at all.
This is one of those classic "TNT Movies" that just stays stuck in my memories. Others include U.S. Marshalls, Christine, Maximum Overdrive, and Child's Play (the last 3 being part of "Monstervision")
The few times I did this myself as an amature chaser, when I finally got my chance to chase an active tornado this scene def came back to me. That was a thrill of a lifetime
I’m excited for Twister 2 or “Twisters” in 2024. I hope it’s as good for the original you’re messing with my childhood man. I grew up with movies like this. One of my ultimate favorite movies until I die. Rest in Peace Bill Paxton you were my favorite you’re now up there with my mother. 😌🙏🏻♥️✝️🌪️

The camera work in this scene, oh man!... In the whole movie, but *this* scene alone... So absolutely phenomenal! It helped tremendously that De Bont was coming from the position of DP himself. The way the shot sways around Aunt Meg's house, to cut to that aerial shot of the Wakita water tower always raises the hair on my hands and neck, together with Mancina's french horn.
2:57 Damn, those nature wide shots.... 🤤 And the music.... 😍 Those things filled this movie with life. Hollywood execs these days, take notes! It's not always good to make your movie with just close ups.
I don't like that Dusty is invading Melissa's personal space. As a teenager I thought it was cringe, but now I can classify this feeling better - it's that unpleasant feeling when someone crosses personal boundaries. I feel Melissa in so many ways
I saw this movie in the Cinedome at Castle Rock, Washington in 1996, the local mondo-screen theatre that served double-duty as the exhibitor of a local Mt. St. Helen's eruption film. Now sadly long-closed. And I finally figured it out....the driver of Rabbit's (Alan Ruck) vehicle is actor Sean Whalen. The "Where have I seen him before....?" bug was strong with this one when I re-watched this movie in re-runs over the years, until I just realized I was picking up the vibe from a film made a year later, "That Thing You Do!" where he played an early fan of The Wonders.
Wow! I never understood Bill’s response. It’s always been hard to hear, “A brick wall.” So I grew up thinking Bill was calling Rabbit a Bearded Lady. Nope!! 27 years later and I finally hear it! Thanks for literally spelling it out!
2023 & I'll never stop chasing to my own epic twister mix track human's being! 🔥 It never gets old! Btw... tornadoes FEAR the sound of a storm chaser or even if you play that song at all. Jk 😉
You know I gotta say, this movie almost makes it seem like saying "hey this is the movie to mourn after the year Selena died". She died in '95 this movie came out a year later in '96. Idk it just feels that way to me. Awesome movie always this masterpiece! And for some reason 🌪️ have always hit home for me.
Definitely I did it for 45 years my husband and I used to race to see who got to the truck first or dressed in the middle of the night first. After he retired (he was the Chief) I retired 6 months later and all of a sudden the house got really quiet no more scanners or beepers and had to learn how to sleep during the night lol
Fun fact. Chris Farley was supposed to be Philip Seymour Hoffman’s character. If he didn’t deny the movie, could you picture Chris Farley in this movie?
Anyone notice the death glare that Aunt Meg gave Melissa, or that not so subtle push she gave her? Yep, she DEFINITELY doesn't like Melissa AT ALL .😁😁😁 Aunt Meg feels as if Melissa is an interloper and trying to steal her precious niece's husband . Which of course didn't work. Jo and Bill got back together. 💜💜💜
It probably did not necessarily have anything to do with Jo. She obviously cares a great deal for Bill and could tell immediately Melissa was not the right one for him, which Bill and Melissa discover over the course of the movie.
@@SOU6900 Yes, they are aftermarket. They were never factory or even an option from GM. However, on that same note, it wasn't a very common thing either. Sure, some people sent their stock suburbans to a shop or did it themselves. But even then, dually suburbans, not everyone was on board with that style, so there not common. From what I know, people still do that to modern SUVs, but it's expensive. Personally, I think it looks really cool and unique.
