Respectfully, this reminds me of the way many beliefs hold Mother Earth and other women sacred. Like a thread between us, even if we have different "religions". I think that is beautiful.

They just sing so beautifully together. I’m a choir nerd, but to close your eyes and just listen to the harmony of the altos and sopranos…bass….beautiful all around. Especially the last line before they broke into the upbeat part
When Sister Mary sings, I think it drills in the fact that God really speaks through you when you learn the power to project your own voice and thoughts. He flows through you in a way. THATS when you know he’s there. 💕
The moment when you realize that A: the nuns are actually singing (save for the overdubbed soprano) B: That this is an actual Catholic Hymn C: That despite being a kitschy movie, the choral harmony involved here is really quite good As a choir nerd most of my life, I wanted to hate this movie, especially when the Alto/Contraltos were referred to as Basses. Then I heard these ladies actually sing. I may consider myself a pagain, bbut this music was something beautiful, regardless of whom or what you pray to.

I was a soprano choir boy,sang like a girl, but I loved to sing,sang in the Saint Aloysius choir in the early 1970s Queens New York City, carried the love of some of these old, inspiring classic hymns and songs throughout my life, my favorite piece of music in the world, Jesu Joy of man’s desiring by Bach ☮️
Beautiful song and the resounding melody and harmony mixture in this song warmed my heart then for me as a kid and still does today! Merging the love for God and comedy. A true classic for your soul!
If you want good music, go to a big catholic church for choral, or a Baptist church in a black neighborhood for gospel. Or a Russian orthodox church for some heavier choir, or a Korean church to hear traditional hymns done impeccably. Don't get me started on Judaism and Islam lol. Omg and Buddhist chants. Talk about falling asleep/escaping reality to music. I forgot my original point. Music is great. 🙂

I love this movie and this scene so much. We had chorus in elementary and I loved it so much I took Chorus as an elective in middle school every year, then in high school it was chior but I couldnt vibe with it. Got too meh for me the teacher made it boring. But I love singing along with this part. I love all the singing movies out there.
