Ritchie Cordell, who co-wrote this, worked for Super K Productions, the producers of the Ohio Express. Graham Gouldman also worked for a time as a songwriter for Super K, and even wrote and sang lead on Ohio Express's "Sausalito(Is the Place to Go) with backing from the other 10cc members. So the connection was there.

Not one of Graham Gouldman's finest works- and the tune seems to owe a little to the Beatles' Get Back. The trouble with seeing a group like Freddie and the Dreamers with moustaches and sideburns and longish hair is that they look out of time.
