    Great video mate. Appreciate the info and the free form ramble. One of the last things you said is one of the things I love about this art form, that we are constantly learning. I wake up early every morning to work on blends and sometimes to just smell materials I haven’t smelled in a while. If I ever think I got it all figured out and know it all (in general not just perfumery) that’s when I’m fucked. Thanx again BK

    Any chance you can make a video to cover the most common beginner mistakes? Also, any chance you can cover what's required to sell a perfume legally? Thanks to your instructions and spreadsheet, I finally made a fragrance Im really happy with, but I don't know what to do with it now. Thanks so much for all your effort and detailed explanations. It is really great.

      That video youre asking for would be 3+ hours long. Selling legally depends where you live as well, eu has different laws than the us, in the us lilial isnt "banned" and can still be used. If you would like to know the legal aspect, id talk to a business liability and trademark attorney. Also look into how much it costs to put a fragrance into production, it can cost upwards of $1000's to $50,000+....packaging, marketing, materials, bottles, caps, graphic art, fragrance concentrate manufacturing and production. After all that you still have logistics to deal with, after the concentrate is produced where do they send it to be bottled, after bottling, where does it get packaged, after packaging where does it get sent for distribution, where is it being distributed nd by whom? How much? How often? Theres alot more to it, than mixing up a formula and throwing it in a bottle and box.

    Great video! You mentioned that you'd need to go through 50 batches to show the process around 26:15. Is it an idea to do a review of a formula you've created and look at each trial and and the thought process, findings etc. Behind each? Maybe summarize a few trials together for video length.
    We could see how the formula gets shaped from rough to finer and finer

    I had an issue with green mandarin also, but it was with the same supplier who had a good rep. I ordered a sample and it was lovely. I ordered a larger size. The larger size wasn't the same aroma or color. They had no idea where that green mandarin sample came from. I never ordered from them again.

    Hey BK. Love your videos. But I would caveat what you said about average dosage. The Unguentarius website has a wonderful material statistics tool, and the Perfumers World website offers a perfumery material range on their website.
    I'd say that while it's true that there is no universal single dosage percentage for a material that applies in all contexts (like freshie, gourmand, chypre and fougere) every time, you can state that there are some good initial values you can find to try out. And then tweak the amounts after making an initial test blend. And that can really help.
    It's better to have a starting point to try, than to have no reference point at all. Because if people are hesitant to try, giving them assurance that here's a fairly safe starting point, and letting them know it's normal if your first blend isn't perfect, that helps novices in this hobby a ton!

    • @bkscents7050
      @bkscents7050  Рік тому +1

      Yeahhhh to some degree. That website has statistics yes.....but how much is the data pool that it's pulling from to give statistics? For a given material does it have stats on it's dosage on 100+ fragrances so we know the stats have enough data to give accurate assumptions? What would happen if the data pool of a "average usage" of a single material was only from 3 instances that ranged from .01% to 3%.....would that "average usage" be a good statistic to base line from? Probably not.
      While yes new comers would like some sort of guideline or starting point, that I get and maybe I should do a video on this.

    • @JayMannStuff
      @JayMannStuff Рік тому

      @@bkscents7050 oh, they have that. Check the Unguentarius material statistics tool. Just Google it, since sharing non-Google links sometimes doesn't work in the comments section. There's several materials they add those kinds of caveats for little information or no information. :)

    Oh you are back, missing your info the most, I think I am the only one from Pakistan who loves your channel and I wish I am in US and can meet you in person, anyways thanks a lot for all the info, the biggest problem here in Pakistan is, we cannot find materials, still I have few to play with and have those 3 which are the skeleton of a perfume and few woody and amber materials, wish you a v good luck and God bless you.

      Go to pell wall, they have 5 kits 0f the 100 essential ac's to begin with, they jave them broken down into five kits....biy them in order, or you can look at the ac's each kit contains and purchase the ac's separately elsewhere if they are cheaper.

    That was informative. I did learn a few things that confused me while I worked on making my own formula. I have a request: Please make a video about making simple fragrances by using only essential oils. And don't forget to tag me :p I am requesting for essential oils because they are quite easy to get than the chemical materials. I am from Pakistan. Getting chemicals is difficult in smaller quantities. And affording them in large quantity is not pocket friendly. Thanks in advance.
