Totally agree, many we will say, Quote, drugstore brands have stepped it up, in terms of ingredients and appealing colors, tones, etc. Thinking back to early times, Maybelline, Revlon, etc, were makeup used in films, on stars, etc, and many are from the same “houses” as luxury brands. Our choices are probably driven by choices, affordability for our budgets, and let’s not forget marketing and the drive to fit in-Thanks, Robert-Good Stuff!
I LOVE the Nyx Buttermelt bronzers and blushes. So much pigment in those, but they’re so easy to blend. I’d love for them to come out with more shades as the blushes are all super intense, but I’m so into the texture.

I don't know if it's my skin or the makeup itself but I can't get away with using drugstore brands. When it's freshly applied it looks fine, but give it a few hours and it will just melt, look patchy and oily. As far as drugstore eye products go, if it's sunny outside and my eyes water a little, they just dissolve and get in my eyes which cascades into full-on tears, then everything streaks down my cheeks.

I don’t only write this to thank Robert, but to anyone else that is doubting and ready to throw in the towel thinking that you’ll never find makeup you can wear. Don’t give up! I had to try different combinations and sequences as well as perfect my skincare routine. Just keep trying, because you’ll never know, until you know. ❌⭕️❌⭕️
And Robert please don’t ever stop being your authentic self. In Robert I trust! 💕💕
The drugstore blush reminds me of one I used back in the 80's 😂 xxx
My fav drugstore brands:
- Black Radiance
- Wet n Wild
- ELF
- Sally Hansen
- Colourpop
- NYX
I got some of my first and favorite lipsticks at a Grocery Outlet of all places lol. ❤
There may be more to learn by showing us how different setting sprays perform as "primers". Some mattify and some juicify, comparing luxury v normal might be fun. I dunno. I do know that it's great how you're always looking out for us. 💜
Robert, I love you sharing your skills and experience with us. All your channels are awesome. The information is great, but my favorite part is how you are just you. You are so real, funny and entertaining. I absolutely love how you leave everything in your video. You don't edit out distractions. It is so endearing ❤❤❤. Have a great vacation.
Love your content as always!
I must admit I find myself using luxury products for primer, concealer and foundation and then use drugstore/indie brands for everything else
Agree! I’m not spending $30 on mascara!
Same!
Revolution "Forever Flawless" eyeshadow palettes are itttttttttt for me. I love them so much.
Omg purple blush looks soooooo good on you.
I love the MUA Academy palette suggestion, especially since I have held off for a year on the Patrick Ta palette. I can't justify that price for a want. But MUA Academy doesn't ship outside the UK right now and it's not sold on any US sites. 😭
Hopefully that will change, their prices and products look fantastic!
They are fantastic!
uh oh, new favorite makeup channel!
You are in for a fun ride. He’s the best.
If you like goofy fun check out the channel he does with his twin- I recommend the spooky halloween ones!
Robert I love Lisa Eldridge’s line it’s amazing. I would NEVER BUY lines like Hermes or Valentino ridiculously expensive for nothing special!
I’m really enjoying your swollen face, lol. You are gorge Robert. Love your content. Hope you have an amazing vacation.
Thank you Robert for your very honest review. It’s very much appreciated and allows us to think about other choices outside of buying high end all the time. Also your voice is so soothing and you’re so funny it’s such a pleasure listening to you. ❤
Loved it when you thought the tag on your shirt was a spider.
Drug store make up has come into its own over last few years. Im thrilled! I would love to see you do a few more of these. Its so interesting. Thanks.
I love the luxery side makeups. They actually do look so nice. You look amazing in either
Love when drugstore wins! 🎉😊
Beautiful on both sides!!
I LOVE the Nyx Buttermelt bronzers and blushes. So much pigment in those, but they’re so easy to blend. I’d love for them to come out with more shades as the blushes are all super intense, but I’m so into the texture.
Second comment: When you put on the luxury contour and highlight...I nearly gasped. The difference between that side and the side you hadn't done yet was so stark. It looked amazing.
I had the Nars concealer and the Fit me concealer. Yes Nars is so dry, I hated it...I went back to using the Fit me one and threw away my Nars concealer...so glad you have the same opinion!!!
Love these kinds of comparison videos from experienced, forthright makeup artists like Robert.
I love the nyx blushes and bronzers in the buttermelt formula very much.
Never be sorry about looking at your dog!!!! When you said there might be loud crunching sounds, I tried to turn up the volume to hear it 😆🐾
Just ordered the Galactic blush by MAKE off Amazon because it looked so gorgeous on you!
you look wonderful, sweetie!
The NYX bare with me concealer is my ride or die for my under eyes, because I'm 37 and it's a desert under my eye, and it just does wonders for me there
Love your personality, it’s always so much fun to watch you work! ❤
Llllluxury 😏 And I have to say, I love your videos just for being soo calm and soothing and not this overhyped, sped-up type of videos that seem to be all there is these days
I love nyx’s liquid lipsticks, they last so well!
I know nothing about makeup but I really appreciate your content, and thank you for all your videos! I'm not very good with words and I wanted to write algorithm sometimes but it didn't feel right so here it is 💗💗
We can’t tell you have any swelling Robert!! You’re good!! If you have an other video or 2 with this same face don’t put a disclaimer bc it’s not necessary!!! Love you 💜💜💜💜
CONGRATS ON YOUR COLLAB ROBERT!!!! Love from Pakistan. Huge fan !!! hope i can get them here.
Wow I prefer the Beauty Bay Cream Contour soooooo much better than the Kevyn Aucoin side! So smooth, not patchy at all, nice color. I have to buy this
I don't know if it's my skin or the makeup itself but I can't get away with using drugstore brands.
I always appreciate videos like these, especially towards the end of the year, it's a good recap of what is out there 👍
The introduction in the last few video😂😂 💜💜
I like really much good products with less money. W7 brow pen and blush are amazing.
I’ve been using Sigma blush palette and the Sigma contour palette… love them both!
Really enjoy your videos,Robert, enjoy your vacation!🥳
I've never been this early but I've learned so many new makeup tips from you over the years 😭 thank you so much for making educational (and funny) content on makeup
MUA represented! I've got about 4 of their mini palettes and they're so pigmented and last a longer time than I expected.
Clock the Dior tag on the shirt. ❤
Nars is giving radiance in a sense of healthy natural skin
Congratulations on your collab with Blend Bunny ❤❤
I really found this upload interesting Robert because it actually shows that both sides have good & not so good… so surely that says that you certainly do not need to spend on luxury for the best products, & actually what I do is I just buy a mixture of drug store & slightly higher end, and only buy a luxury product if I know the product is going to perform xxx ❤❤❤❤
Beauty Bay is quietly one of the better brands out there I think. I love their liquid blushes, I have their highlighters, the eyeshadow is very impressively pigmented for the price and they are very affordable! No one ever talks about them it feels like, but it deserves more love
