I am of the Jewish faith , God is one God is Universal !!! The beauty is in the sharing, the beauty is in the giving !!! Thank you Narinjan Kaur for sharing your beautiful ethereal voice with us . I feel the vibration of beautiful voices in the core of my being and deep in my soul within this gentle beauty comes the grace !!!
I have spent the last twelve years working with survivors of the Sikh genocide, 1984-1994. The Indian state tortured and raped and extra judicially killed Sikhs. TADA was used on Sikhs in reprehensible ways. And I've given all my salary, and my savings, and now am laid in bed ill- this was truly uplifting. I want to take such healing and music to our widows who have had entire families murdered by the state, and unlike some commenters below- 1984 was a wholescale start of genocide, Thanks Niranjan Kaur for bringing home to me the beauty of the spiritual songs, drinking from them, and getting the strength. Please do all reach out the to the refugees, torture survivors in your communities- as despicable things are done in the name of state repression, and use these wonderful chants, music, spiritual beauty and help the world heal. As I have said to a commentor below- let's not be swayed by state repression, 1984 was attack on the heart of the Sikhs. If the so called authorities wanted they could have arrested, leaders of protests, anytime, as they gave public seminars , speeches every day and it was the most disgusting brutal attack on a religion. In Mecca, the Vatican, Varanasi- you have never seen this. The Sikhs are of the sacred warrior tradition, and they carry symbols of Shakti, kirpans, and this was used as a terrible excuse to attack the heart of the Sikhs. As Niranjan says the Sikhs did re build themselves even as India remains in genocide denial land---------- and it is this conscience that the majority in India need to look to. Germany rebuilt its conscience, and went into a past that was brutal. India still refuses to. Please come and work with us anytime with survivors of the Sikh genocide 1984. TARAN - Widows of Punjab
Simarjit Kaur thanks for your info..where are you located? It has been my personal experience that anyone who claims to be in a religion and feels strong attachment to it, has some political sentiments, as well, attached to the attachment.. I would like to help..yet I see how strong symbols such as a kirpan can stir up negative feelings, and history of being warriors as well...if a group can drop attachment to symbolism and create something new, they would definitely survive better...yet they can keep the underlying Truths, which always withstand the test of time.
+Diane Bingham Diane the Sikhs i984-1994 suffered a devastating Sikh genocide when the majority hindu dominated India condoned this. Individual hindus tried to help their Sikh neighbours. Please do not talk of politics, or kirpans stirring up negative feelings. The 100,000 Sikhs tortured and the Sikh genocide was no excuse. Just as Rwandan Tutsi looking different to Hutu was no excuse for genocide. Our Kirpan defended the FREEDOM to worship when the Islamic Inquisitions took place in India- the Kahsmiri pandits and honourables of the Hindu religion across India sought shelter from the Sikhs who defended the freedom of all to worship freely. The KIRPAN is a symbol of the power of God within you and is to honour your body. To say that we need to drop parts of our religion to survive in the face of genocide? Truly do you understand how terrible circumstances for genocide to be put on a people- any people...What have the Syrian people done to flee war in their own home? I would hope you can come and help our survivors- thousands of torture survivors are across the world. I am in London and the Punjab- God Willing if the Government of India can stop its awful practise- torturing one in three people in custody in Indian prisons......Do stay in touch....I know you have so much to give those who have suffered trauma and torture. But people who suffer genocide, have not stood out a bit too much!!! That is a myth. The powers who dominate a country and the majority of people have a lot to answer for a minority like the Sikhs suffering massacre in 1984- 20,000 unarmed Sikhs killed.......and ensuing war. We have been SAINT_ WARRIORS......Both to struggle for justice and fight social injustice- you are taking the symbols pretty literally.
+Diane Bingham DianeIt sounds very hurtful what you have said- I don't think you mean to be hurtful. we lost families, cousins, our families suffered devastating torture and I have worked with thousands of torture survivors. are you saying if they hadn't stood out as much it would be ok?? If jewish people didn't stand out from Christians would less have been killed when state powers had start plans to commit genocide? I am sure you are a spiritual person- but it is hurtful to say that a minority, Sikhs are a minority in majority hindu India, to say they deserved massacre or torture, because as a group they stood out? Please be aware survivors of genocide have barely had their court cases heard, mostly cases lost- habeas corpus- thousands of poor tried to get to the Indian courts to save their loved ones disappearing at the hands of the police and the Indian judiciary (Harvard Review journal) colluded

Each time I listen to these Guru's words, gives me peace at heart... a sense of tranquillity befalls on me. The singing by Nirinjan Kaur is superb. Thanks
The graceful melodious voice you have been gifted with brings tears to my eyes and at times I weep like a kid no matter how many times I hear your soulful kirtans.
This music reminds me that our strength in this world comes from God. Their musical expression of the mantras help me in my worship of the Divine Creator and carry peace throughout my day.
