"I hate losing to Jan" is such an incredible capstone on this video bc I suspect the entire pokemon community feels that way, but ESPECIALLY alpha lmao
I honestly relate so much lol. Like when I'm doing a puzzle I'm super good at figuring out a complex solution or having a good idea but miss really subtle dumb stuff lol
Honestly I'd love to see more of these from creators like Smant with people like Vintendo, Shady, and others like Dylan who do so much content around Pokémon.
For those that don't know Astroid Videos was the first person to do a pokemon escape room challenge on his channel. I'm glad SmallAnt gave it a shot too because are so much fun to watch!

it says so much about alpharad and jan's respective strategies when it comes to approaching pokemon that alpharad immediately figured out the overworld puzzle but jan was able to overcome that with pure moveset knowledge

I'm not normally a fan of escape room style content, but this was great. Good puzzles, great pay off to said puzzles, and still managed to make sense in the realm of being based on Pokemon. 10/10.
Having an escape room where the clues can be especially obtuse because options are limited by the "rules" of the video game they're playing is a really interesting well fo content. Id love to see more stuff like this. Its probably super time consuming conpared to challenge run content to set up though.
this was so fun to watch! it's amazing how much in-game knowledge you need to have to actually be able to solve those. and I really liked how the hints didn't straightforwardly tell them what to do and just hinting, like they were supposed to! love it and can't wait for the next one :)
There’s various puzzles in different games quality depending on the creativity of the creator and the limitations and mechanics of the games. Minecraft escape rooms can be really cool, but most designers either don’t think about certain mechanics or implement an honor system to restrict a player making the puzzles less satisfying. Super Mario Odyssey has had a few escape puzzles. Fir has made two which SmallAnt has been in both. I believe some other SMO creators have made some as well. You will find these for nearly any game that has any level of modding and level creation. The amount might drastically differ just due to how popular the idea is for certain game communities. Like technically you could do this in Fire Emblem, but I don’t know how popular escape rooms are in the Fire Emblem community.
Gotta say, it's so unbelievably in character that Alphard would stumble past the first step like, 25 minutes ahead of everyone else, only to miss the held item for like an hour
this is such an amazing concept, really wish there could be an episode 2 with other contestants or maybe the same but on a even trickier/longer map now that they know a few tricks!
I am proud of myself for solving literally every puzzle before seeing the solution in the video (even having my first thought be "I would check the twins with covet" after seeing the Muk didn't work, without even needing to know their dialogue) , except I KNOW I would have never seen that protect TM on Wobuffet and just not progressed or grinded on Sableye lmao
This was super cool, I wish you had asked Pikasprey Yellow to participate, he has a whole series on his channel called softlockpicking that’s basically about making scenarios like this (but in the base games not using roms)
Oh this is a fascinating concept! Kudos for putting this together. Interesting to see how alpharad intuits things, but if that doesn't work he's stumped, while Jan breaks shit down but by bit
I appreciate how Jacob applied some big brain moment in starting and also Smant who made this escape room challenge. It was funny to see Astroid the one who is expert at making these kind of ecape room came last.
This was such a cool concept, and it was great seeing how each person went about solving each part of the puzzle! Great storytelling as always and I'm excited to potentially see more stuff like this :)
I love these; ngl I would watch an entire series of these, though I can bet this is incredibly challenging to put together given the lexicon of knowledge nuzlocke and poketubers already have.
this video was perfection. i put it on as background noise while i studied but couldn't look away 😂 the pacing was fantastic, the information he gave us was just enough to understand everything that was going on while still being able to solve it ourselves, only 15 minutes so no bs, great video.
This is fantastic! If you're ever doing more of these and want to put it out to more creators, I would LOVE to volunteer every brain wrinkle I have! (I do pokemon stuff on my other channels haha)
I was wondering if Sketching Waterfall off of Seaking in order to traverse a waterfall was ever going to happen. I also thought maybe you needed to catch a Sableye who is immune to both Psychic and Razor Wind in order to beat the double battle. But the puzzles that were actually in here were way better than anything I could come up with
Great video, funny to see that if AlphaRad just read dialogue he probably would've won the whole thing, he was much faster than the others to figure out the overworled mechanics but Jan was quick (unsurprisingly) with the battle problems
This was a really, really fun watch. Such intelligent use of the game mechanics! And really satisfying to watch them figure it out (which is testament to how well edited the video is!). More of this sort in Pokemon would be great!
Pretty wild to hear “Covet” be mispronounced like that. Then again, one should never judge another for mispronouncing a word because it means they learned it from reading!
