- Disney+ recently dropped two episodes from the brand-new show 'Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,' introducing a fresh timeline in the Marvel Universe. In Midtown High School's bustling halls, Peter Parker enters a new adventure as a freshman who unexpectedly finds a new friendship in Nico Minoru. Her name might not seem familiar, but Nico is no ordinary character. Those familiar with the comics understand her significance in the Marvel Universe. So, without wasting any time, let's take a closer look at the new character, Nico Minoru.
This story doesn't take place in Midtown; the Symbiote wrecked it and he had to transfer to Rockford T Bales. Since they don't offer advanced Freshman classes, he takes Junior and Senior classes. It's the butterfly effect moving him from Tony Stark to Norman Osborn.

The thing that always made me dismiss Nico was that when introduced, what magic she wielded was not her own. She got a gift. That gift being an extremely powerful magic stave. She could do everything, cast any spell, if oly once. While it was an interesting gimmick, it still meant that she was effectively a random girl running around with the equivalent of an all powerful laser pistol.
If Nico just dropped the staff of one, and some random kid picked it up, said random kid then could have taken Nico's place in the runaways.
Then the next time I saw her she was suddenly heralded as an experienced and knowledgable magic wielder. Because reasons....
Do you even read comics? She is the leader of her team...... Thats like saying you dont need robin in teen titans cause he has no powers so any random human can take their place. You dont need to be the most special person in the world to be part of a team. Majority of the runaways dont even have powers at all. The original team had 3/6 people with 0 powers. It doesnt make them replaceable.
And by the way, she has never been depicted as an experienced magic user. The whole point of the runaways are that they are not a superhero team they are just a bunch of kids. Her latest comic literally had her feel doubt because she relied on the staff and actually did not know much magic outside of that.
I cannot think of a single comic where she has been "heralded" as an experienced and knowledgable magic wielder.
@@toopoorandobscure3865 The runaways are a team of misfits, who most of the time are run by comittee. And comparing Nico to Robin highlights precisely the problem I have with her. Robin got to where he is with a ludicrous amount of blood, sweat and tears.
Nico got her powers gift wrapped.
"And by the way, she has never been depicted as an experienced magic user" - That is false. Nico has made a small number of appearances outside the Runaways, mostly as a background character, when the author needed to pad the number of magicians.
Keep in mind, my dude, "i cannot recall" and "it never happened" are two very different things...
