Actually I asked Tim Follin about this soundtrack and he told me he only did the title music. I don't remember which song in particular, but Tim said the title music was based off a Guns 'N' Roses song.
“...and taking first place in this year’s Super Off Road tournament is none other than ‘Nitro Alex’, which according to the records is his actual name. I wonder why.”
I actually analyzed this game and noticed that the entire list looped after 64 levels (even though the levels stopped being unique before then). Although there's no visible level counter, you managed to pull off the feat of looping the entire set at 1:11:17.
As a kid I would've done anything to get a chance to drive the gold car lol 😆. Never owned this game but it was a rental several times from blockbuster. I never felt like I got enough time to play this game. Bumping the other cars, collecting upgrades, messing up the AI in the tracks that overlap and cross paths. This game felt special to play.
I felt the same way, except I wanted the silver one 😂 It always felt like this game got harder with two players as well which made it so much more fun for me
In the arcades I would spin the wheel as fast as I could. Later on in life I heard a lot of the arcade machines would sometimes catch fire or start smoking at the friction/heat some people would get spinning the wheels super hard.
I have this game on my snes. To me it just didn't feel the same as the arcade or the NES version. It's Probably because it lacks the Ivan "The Ironman" Stewart licensing, The choice of which country you race for, the original music from the arcade, sound effects, Bikini Girls and the removal of the Ironman Shop. They did however include all the tracks from the Track Pak version but didn't include the option to drive the Dune Buggy.
I suspect that the license to use Ivan Stewart's likeness just ran out around the time of the port, and they didn't bother to renew it for whatever reason at the time (weird given how they clearly got it back for use in "Super Off-Road: The Baja", though I guess that came after this port). I KNOW that later ports of this game just alter his appearance to get around the fact that they DEFINITELY didn't have the license a few years afterward.
Just a couple questions. Why don't you max out your acceleration and top speed earlier on when you have all that excess cash? Also you never nitro it right before the finish line even when silver is right on your butt, do they never nitro then?
No, I saw he did it recently, but I just thought it was would be a good follow-up to Smash TV since they're both good arcade ports. I recorded this months ago.
I probably don't share the same sentiment with you, Alex. Super Off-Road was quite frustrating, the controls were clunky and confusing, and the AI in this game is very unforgiving. Not to mention that you only have 2 continues to work with, so this is an abomination to me. Just give me Mario Kart.

It's not just the title screen music that's awesome, the entire soundtrack is just absolutely killer. The Follins magic at work.
But, of course, all three Follin brothers are now retired, dating their work back to the NES days.
*0.5x playback speed* feels wrong....in the right-wrong kinda way....

the little victory jingle that plays at the end of a race is my favorite.
"I love what you do for me, Toyota!"
NintendoComplete Lol that song is so good
“Toyota is everyday people!”
Their tagline is now, "Let's go places".
@@NintendoComplete I have this one and the second one for SNES still works since 1992
The song at the beginning sounds like Soundgarden's Outshined for a few seconds there, too.
Those Follin guitars are some of the best ones coming from the SNES, I'm tellin' ya!
I was impressed at 26:21. I thought the red truck was coming in 2nd place for sure after turning around to grab the 💰!
1:26:03 One of the best game over screens ever created
I think this game actually came out in December 1991. I remember seeing it on store shelves that holiday season.
My favorite youtuber, I love this retro gaming it's so great, keep it up thanks ;)
Omfg! I played this in an arcade and snes. This game is hyped for me
“...and taking first place in this year’s Super Off Road tournament is none other than ‘Nitro Alex’, which according to the records is his actual name. I wonder why.”
29:18 Last second maneuver!
Love that composers 80s hair band midi music. Hilarious.

Oh thanks, I had no idea actually how many races I had completed. I just knew that I had covered all of its loop
ah, i see you're also living the nitro life 😎
Clearly the silver truck's driver disliked this video.
That cheating bastard... XD
Never knew you could load up 99 nitro...I always stopped when the red bars were full and would run out too fast.
Extraordinary graphics and sound in 1992!

Great work 👍 big like
This game was extreme in later levels. It would be nice to remake into a 4 player with online play.
@@nirv relax man. Some people like remakes. Not a big deal.

Fue mi primer juego de snes, me lo compre antes incluso que la consola!!
No tiene final..pasa en todas sus versiones.yo tengo la de Master System
If the game wasn't already fucking good enough, Tim Follin barges in with his ridiculously good soundtrack. It's banger after banger
Don't forget Geoff too
@@supmattboy True! Actually Geoff wrote most of the in-race songs from what I read.

i didn't know how to read as a child i called it Mickey Thompsons for years
That back around to get the money bag @26:26 🔥🏃♂️
I considered the game "ended" when I had all upgrades and 99 nitros. Full 9 digits score is insane, it takes *days*
Still a fun racer in the vein of Super Sprint.
I have both and my super nes still works since 1991
@@marioiacolucci Same, had my SNES since Xmas '91
@@moviemetalhead cool dude
Another great video
Looks sounds and feels like one of those Genesis games made by Ballistic
hardball
I think I still have a NES cart of this around.
That white truck still haunts my dreams...

Curioso lo tengo aún en mis manos está joya
Recuerdo cuando perdías el conductor se bajaba haciendo berrinches 🤣🤣
It's too bad Indy Heat didn't have a SNES port to complement this.
I know right ?
Awesome game, however.....That cursed silver truck!!!
so this game is infinite? it does not have an ending?
Yep
Vaya subes casi todos los días
was this 4 player at the same time playable?
Not on the SNES, it was one or two players.
The NES version did support 4-players though, if you had the NES Satellite or the Four Score adaptor.
Was this playthrough inspired by SNESdrunk? :P
No, I saw he did it recently, but I just thought it was would be a good follow-up to Smash TV since they're both good arcade ports. I recorded this months ago.

Let's go

It was based on the 80's racing arcade.
