i disconnected the intercooler hoses..loosened the front clip, radiator and all as one piece, pulled out and lowered..disconnected oil cooler hoses..and it right there...my hardest repair on a jetta...
Harbor freight sells long sockets like this but even removing the oil filter housing I couldn’t get a straight shot at the bolt. Not enough insertion into the bolt to grab it as the shank of the tool is thicker than 4mm. However a 4mm Allen key held with a vice grips was narrow enough. Worst job ever!
Very helpful video. I think I will remove filter housing. Just need to make sure dirt doesn’t fall in.

This one was definitely no fun. Next time I may have to remove the oil filter housing.
I have same problem in my Octavia MK2 -- I belive its same engine as per video.. need to get it replaced.
Why did you have to replace that sensor. What was the problem with the engine?
When the engine warms up it would stall and not start until it cooled down. And it had a code for it as-well.
Running into the same issue with mine. Great video. Hopefully it’s my sensor. That is the problem.
