At the point where trucks were crossing the median one after the other I'm seeing a road design problem that's probably not the ideal example. Otherwise several good points were well enough made, especially about people cutting riders off. I don't think those drivers even used their mirrors. And yes some riders were shown doing the wrong things also. Unlike some other people I didn't have a problem with both sides being shown.
As a bike rider the worse I have found to be; (sorry ladies) ladies in 4 wheel drives coming around roundabouts without any indicators on. Also men who are waiting to leave a T intersection; like to think ahead and view forward of the next car or bike coming along in front of them and they put the nose of their vehicle out in front of you as if they are getting ready to leave the T intersection ,It is as if they dont see you at all and we do get some that just pull out anyway so see it from our side how that feels. Then you have young fools who tail gate bikes through bends to see what it looks like up close, one slip by us and you will run us over and do time and wreck both our lives. Then we have old folk who just dont see us because they are not looking for anything except a space to go like the lane changers in the video.
....tell ya what...how about a video of mister plod setting up a random breath station on a busy road, on a hot day, creating a half mile long traffic jam, and watch people getting impatient and angry (cause they can't see whats holding everything up), and doing the dreaded u turns to get outa there....and then have a bit of road rage up the road cause their so pissed off......
Good Video…Although….I think your rider could wear GLOVES as a good example of what to do!! unless he/she doesn't mind eating in the future with a straw after multiple skin grafts on their hands.
I think that, while in the right direction, this video misses the biggest points... Put the phone DOWN when you drive and pay attention to the road signs. I've been in two bike crashes in 12 years (and numerous near misses) and they have all been caused by dickheads texting or using their phone, or rolling / driving straight through stop / give way signs.
I am really in favour of cyclists generally. I used to city cycle a lot even though I had a car. But the other day I got really pissed off. Along St Kilda Rd. Melbourne a group of cyclists were travellling somewhat in the bike lane 3 abreast, heading south towards St Kilda Junction.. At every single set of lights where I was stopped at the head of the (car) lane they moved their bikes to the middle lane, right in front of me, so I could only take off very slowly. What sort of courtesy is this? It's almost as if they wanted to make me angry. If they were worried about cars wanting to turn left, including their bike lane, why not just move to the right of the left hand lane?
Angela Lowe Riding 3 abreast and placing themselves in front of the traffic at lights in actually illegal for them to do. The law allows them ONLY to ride 2 abreast and because they are so slow to take off, unlike motorbikes, they have to take off from the side. I would have been loosing my na na! Grrrrr!
that was me at in that video buddy, if i was at fault then im fricken santa clause. with the knowledge that i wasn't speeding(4wd was doing about 50-60 in an 80 zone, that's why he changed lanes to speed up) can you explain that too me?
john more the indicator is irrelevant, indication does not give you the right of way. If he was stationary and indicating does that mean i need to stop my bike in the middle of the road and roll out a red carpet to let him come out? i think not. at reduced speed he needs to make sure road is clear before moving. i guess it just shows how arrogant/ignorant some drivers can be.
Eastlink how can you spout about safety when you installed safety barriers that garrotte and kill motorcyclists, went for the cheap option did we !! I know the std reply will be, they are approved by vic roads

Peter Hugo livin HIS life, wearin what HE wants to wear, mindin his own business, f#@cken good on im......
***** Did they ask your permission to use your footage?
I have to say that head checking is definitely the worst! Sometimes the driver is parallel to you and still tries to cut you off!

I know how you feel, It's all on the bike riders to rely on their own skills to stop and watch for those morons

Well at least they are not just making stuff up to book us with, like declaring you aren't wearing a helmet if you have a tinted visor; oh wait......

Yeah... unfortunately pete is too cool for school! Why ***** were you not wearing gloves in a safety video? Did they pay you for your footage?

WELL. at 0:55 it was the riders fault. So if you can't get that right why should people listen to you.
