First time I’ve seen this. Mike Oldfield is brilliant. Saw them perform at Edinburgh Castle in the 80s. It was the premier of Tubular Bell’s 2 . They were terrific that night.
Thanks for posting this on UA-cam, out of a lot of crap on here there’s gems like this that help transport many of us back to nicer times of growing up.
I’ve finally found this concert again... I watched it on Super Channel around 1987-8, just after I started learning guitar. Not only did I become a lifelong fan of Mike’s lead guitar style... but this was also the very performance (try from 9:17) which inspired me to learn the mandolin. Over 30 years later, I’m still playing both... hopefully not too badly 😅 Thanks for posting this show!
Right on. Ommadawn is one my favorite pieces of music, and this is beautifully played, even with analog tape pitch shifting from the cassette. The sound here is very bare, but their own unique human traits are more evident because of that. Indian chants, classical barroque guitar, screaming splatty warm fuzz distortion, african tribal beats, synth prog, funk bass lines, what more can you want ehehe. Cheers and God bless
@@MiguelBaptista1981 Nevertheless..I've met an Odfield's family in a good acquaintance relation for 3 weeks and he told me that "very unfair because Amarok is one of a kind and not so publicized". I reckon, is a pretty combination of countries sounds. As an example, the Brazilian wishistle, I love it! By the way, Amarok was considered as Ommadawn2
No words to discribe the ability to write and play music! Mike Oldfield forever❤️
Yes he is totally unique.

That would have been 1992
