Really helpful! Everything was clear and your Dropbox with the link to the beach assets was super useful for someone like me who is just starting out and learning the basics. Quick question, do you struggle to get the paper texture to show on white areas (in this case the foam?). I had to use a pretty dark paper texture file and set the blend mode to Hard Light, as Overlay was hardly showing anything. Thanks so much!
Yes, I do have a hard time with white/really light colors. You did the right thing - just play around with the contrast of the texture and the different blend modes until you get the look you like. You can also try using the Curves (under adjustments) and/or duplicating the texture layer.
