Another reason for the intake tube is it deletes the reed cage used to help meet the EPA sound levels. Potential for tip of reed breaking off and damaging a valve is also eliminated by ditching them.
Good info here! Considering this bike or fe350w or a Yamaha WR250f. A lot of the complaints on the 501 is vibration. I didn't notice you mentioning it but what are your thoughts on that with this motor and this bike? Thanks!
Honestly I’ve never heard anyone complain about vibration on a 500. All the bikes you mentioned on thumpers so they’ll all vibrate more than a twin cylinder engine.
While we could spend hours debating it, a few key things. PDS is simpler with less bearings and components. Linkage achieves rising rate i.e. rate of compression, and therefore rate of damping, increases as shock compression increases. They are both good and mainly comes down to personal preference.
Great review. To the point. No bs. Thanks
I have the GasGas ES500. This video has great info!

@2WR The 501 is a single cylinder stroker engine not a twin. Vibration is the biggest complaint about it on almost every long term review of it.
It's bothersome on the footpegs on longer street rides...but it's really just a street legal off road weapon. 15 minutes to the woods from my house 🤙
It’s a huge thumper, so yep it’ll vibrate. There are lots of ways to mitigate vibration in the bars though.
Back in the woods!
Just asking.. pros and cons of PDS and Linkage suspension.??

That Husky is definitely better looking that the KTM or GasGas
does that remap/ desmog work on the 1290 SA ? ( as a cheaper alternative to a full exhaust and slipon )
Strange. There’s no map switch or quickshifter on my 2024 FE501S
That is strange as there should be.
Also no switch on my ‘24 350S. I think that’s not standard
@@2WR Talked to my dealer. The map switch and quick-shifter can be added but they do not come from the factory installed.
Brembo on the 2025 501s I'm pretty sure.
Looks like it for 2025
Fuel cap is horrible
Guess I’ve just gotten used to it since it’s been on all of them for so long. Does suck tho
Lube it 👍
Plumbing fixture grease on the seal solved the difficult to open/close issue for me.
