- a look at the all new 2024 Husqvarna FE501W which is the next generation model of the FE501
KTM has four versions of it's headlight equipped off bikes
two are street legal: KTM 500 EXCF, Husqvarna FE501S
tow are off road only: KTM 500 XWF, Husqvarna FE501w
the main difference between these are the plated bikes have street legal equipment like brake light, turn signals, horn, mirrors while the off road bikes lack these.
we offer kits to add those components to seek a plate in some states

Great video and thank you for sharing. Do you ever have any starting issues from cold. Getting the s model this Tuesday but I heard some stories about starting the bike is a pain???
Needs a more cold crank rating battery from what I hear. Dab the start button to prime before full start helps.
I'm with you on the linkage. That's the #1 reason I'll always have a hard time getting rid of my 2011 KTM-300xc as it was the last year KTM had pds on it's 250,300xc models. It's do for a top end rebuild but it's still stone reliable! I'm just a shade over 6' tall but at 53 yrs. old i'm having a tough time flat footing my old 300xc so when I purchase a street & trail bike it just may have to be the Husqvarna FE-501s. I've read were they sit a tiny bit lower than the KTM 500exc-f so with a aftermarket low seat + I believe it would be easy to slightly lower the rear shock due to the linkage.
Torque values - love it! Wish these and the KTM equivalent could be plated in Canada.

So there’s really no difference in the performance of the S and W versions?
KTM also has alu subframe, linkage is easily covered and protected by proper e.g. acerbis skid plate. I prefer linkage better. The reason this bike is all new I went with 2023 FE 2023, don't want to be KTM beta tester LOL Dude, all emission stuff should be taken off.
For many riders the equipment provides the benefits noted

The map, traction control and quick shifter switch might be available in North America. I was at a KTM dealer in British Columbia yesterday and they had a 2024 500 exc six days there and it had the switch.
Less cross our fingers. Lots of mixed reports out there but we’re fully hopeful it happens
My dealer got me a switch… Plugged it in and all the lights came on. Couldn’t change anything. I’m in the USA

Hey Mike what do you think about the fact that the fuel pump is located so high in the tank. How we gonna get the fuel from the lower part of the. tank at the bottom. Reduced range?

The W doesn’t have a street legal title
However, if your state allows for conversion of a dirt bike into a street bike then you can seek a plate
Is the transmission the same as the previous year 500 in terms of gear ratio 5th gear in particular?
No. All KTM/ Husky bikes now use the same 6 speed box, based on the 300 2T transmission. The exception is the 150 and smaller bikes. The new tranny has a first gear between the old XC and XCW, and even spacing all the way up. No big gap between 5th and 6th. The new Pankl built box is excellent: I have it on my 2024 TE 300.
@@garthlundquist3623 this is the info I’ve been looking for sir! can you please help me figure out if it’s possible to put that transmission in my 2023 500 or just fix-the 5th gear being so close to 4th and too far from 6 issue? What would it take?

Bummer on the map switch info. Just picked up a 24exc-f 2weeks ago. Dealer called me last week and said the map switch is in. Sounds like I wasted money buying a switch.

You called it. Picked up the map switch today. All the lights came on the switch. Couldn’t change anything. Dealer is looking into it.
