Nice one Vanessa. Keep the vid coming.Having a house in Ghana helps with expenses. My son went to school in Ghana until high school which he went to in the State. My daughter went until 5th grade she is in her senior year now and is going to college here. I am moving back to Ghana next year for good. Retire from my job of 20 years👍🏾😊Just love it in Ghana.
You and your family should absolutely stay in Ghana. You have the best vlog on UA-cam for GHANA. You bring your subscribers the best diversity of life in GHANA. Good luck in your decision and pray to GOD for wisdom in making your decision. Thank you for what you brought us.
It’s a shame that many Ghanaians can’t see anything good in Ghana and are DESPERATE to leave. It’s refreshing to see someone who sees the benefits and opportunities in Ghana.
The grass is always greener. I'm Jamerican and I can't wait to retire and move to Jamaica while many Jamaicans are desperate to leave Jamaica and move to the States. 😕
It depends. Life in many 3rd world countries can be overwhelming and people work a lot hard to never see any result. Vanessa's videos are cool but many of the things she mentions are mostly for "rich" people (rich for 3rd world standards) of western countries. For a guy living in a poorer neighborhood in Accra (and many other places around the world) sending their mothers 200USD a month to "help" is a big dream.
Its hard to tap into that unless you come from a privileged background. There are opportunities HOWEVER only if you know someone. For the avg ghanaian thats not possible.
Truth - but Global Warming is here to stay - avoid coastal building - you will be hammered by increasingly extreme tempests. Go inland, fight poverty, & only employ local tradespeople, except for maybe an ethical builder who is active in several regions, and is committed to ecological housing. DO NOT fall for the "Gated community", Upper Class hype!
Living in Ghana has its own advantages and disadvantages. if you find a way to overcome the disadvantages living in Ghana becomes so much better and fun, but certain little things will frustrate you but if you stay calm and over look them trust me it gets much better.
According to this video, the main difference between Scotland and Ghana is that it's much warmer in Ghana. That's just priceless insight right there. I would add also, David Hume was from Scotland. Mindblown?
I’m so happy y’all are staying in Ghana!❤️🙏🏽✊🏽🙌🏽🇬🇭🇬🇭I will be there soon, but do y’all ever think about buying land and building, because I think that’s much better?❤️
Rammed earth ecological houses in rural Ghana are fabulous, & not expensive - at all. Ethical builders are out there - I plan on being in my new house within the year.
Whether you live or stay I feel like you’ve already played a tremendous job and I’m just grateful for the work you’ve done for Ghana and Africa at large.
Vanessa what made you choose a house with no form of proper water supply there are houses in Gana which are on the mains water as my uncl Who lives near Neema has a house that has mains water, in fact he sells it to the locals when their tanks run empty. If the tanks you have in your house empty after two days you’re either consuming a hell of a lot of water, or you have a leak somewhere. That’s what happened to my dad’s House he was literally filling them every two days, in the end he dug a bor hole but he owns his house. And if you’re missing or should I say your kids are missing those non-perishable snacks then twice a year you could do a door-to-door shipment. When my parents go they always send a massive barrel of snacks stuff that they know will cost an arm and a leg in Gana even things like washing up liquid cleaning products bleach even non-bio washing detergent, I think it was Della who said they don’t sell that in Gana. Can that be right with all the malls and supermarkets that are there.
Anytime one moves or relocates, there is need to assimilate and adapt to adjust. The psychosocial studies enlighten such process in view of psychosocial stages. The younger you are the better and quicker you adjust. Therefore toddlers and school age children do well. In addition to that, the support system you may have makes it smooth and may vary from one family to the other. But Vanessa you are well prepared. Kudos!
I moved to Ghana November 2021 from London. It's been a learning curve and at times I've felt like screaming due to the lights out, lack of water and not being able to have UK banter. However, I feel: how can I ever go back to London??? Love your channel and your hair btw. Another thing is I feel like a women here, not a black women. I followed your channel by way of tips and advice prior to moving here - very helpful! Hugs xx
If you build and use off grid solutions like solar, mechanised borehole, etc you will avoid most of these issues. I am planning to move to Ghana but I won't move until I built my own place, powered by solar energy , with a mechanised borehole, etc.
I admire how you have been very honest with the questions in the video. My advice to you is that whether you choose to stay permanently or not in Ghana, please grab a piece of land for yourself now. I hope very well that you have done that already. The area you might consider as bush and not developed now will turn into a bustling residential area in less than a decade. I am giving you this advice from my own experience with land matters. I remember being very sad with the area where I had my land.
Thank you for the video . I like very much the way you comment and talk. I spent 2 years in Volta region in Ho with the market oriented agricultural project. 10 years ago. I had a good time. Regards from Germany.
All the best Vanessa together with your lovely family. Truthful assessment of living in Ghana/Accra. May the good Lord make you soar higher. Keep it up. 🙏🏿💕🙏🏿
Happiness and a solid foundation is everything! You’ll have the mental energy to make choices for yourself. Since you asked, could you do a video on what it’s like for single women, over 40, without kids? Do they have any unexpected challenges? Do they just end up hanging out with the younger, single people? Your hair is perfection! I kept staring at the lines as you spoke. 😍

Amazing. I have 2 kids here in Rwanda, they love it here but at times ask to stay in the city, we are rural. I do think about schooling as they grow older, hope all will work itself out. Thank you for sharing with us 😃
Madam just get solar panels and hook it up to a battery. You know what I’m doing a project in Nigeria and would be importing solar panels in bulk if you want to buy some - do let me know. They are 600W each so 4 - 6 of them should power your house for free. You can plug it to a battery to run your house at night but I’m sure you don’t need it at night just use standard electricity. Great content. You look good in your hairstyle. Accommodation and Transportation are key to your happiness in Ghana. Rent can pretty quickly add up, so for anyone with intentions to live in Ghana, it's best to plan such that you buy your first house before you come to Ghana. Companies like Lakeside Estate, etc have decent homes with flexible payment plans (e.g. 10% down payment, 90% within a year or 2). Buy the house in Ghana with cash while still abroad with say financing from abroad. Live abroad (say 2 - 5 yrs) and ensure a substantial part of your debt is paid. You can then comfortably come to Ghana, knowing accommodation is sorted for you. For transportation, well, save and get yourself a car. Now you are good to take Ghana by storm. Good answer for amazon prime lol, Sounds like life is enjoyable in Ghana. I'm not the kind of person who wants to be on camera either, so I feel your husband. Happy Easter to you and your family.
Think you heard incorrectly, not Amazon Prime. she was talking 1 day delivery(prime) option when she buys online. So that’s prime delivery which she might not have access to when she’s in Accra compared to being in Scotland.

Have you're kids' accents changed since moving to Ghana? Your daughter sounded a little American (as well as Scottish) when she spoke but I'm not sure if that was just in my head haha
Ghana is a great country but the government is 80% of the problem, the roads, water and electric ect, Businesses bring in the money and they don’t use it for the basics. I love how you wear Ghanaian designs, promoting our culture.
How about a series of interviews with Ghana musicians - gospel and pop? But not the usual entertainment gossip, just conversations about being a musician in Ghana, life in Ghana, etc...
I live in a town not far from Accra, about an hour and a few minutes drive from Accra. Lots of stool lands for sale, good road, 24/7 water and electricity supply. Lots of fresh foodstuffs from the farms around, lots of resorts for visitors

Thank you Vanessa for being so open and honest about your experience so far. We do appreciate you too! 💛 ps. Yellow looks nice on you and you are rocking that hairstyle! 😉
Thank you for the insight. I think you should do more vlogs. I really enjoy them.
Your daughter is selling me on Ghana for sure; I don't like cold weather, and ever winter in NY I regret living here
All I have to say is wow wow wow! Well done and thank you for this wonderful update on your journey so far living in Ghana. Despite the challenges Ghana is home and will forever be home. ❤
Incredible video I really like your content
Have you're kids' accents changed since moving to Ghana? Your daughter sounded a little American (as well as Scottish) when she spoke but I'm not sure if that was just in my head haha
I think she does, probably learnt the American accent in school
Ghana is a great country but the government is 80% of the problem, the roads, water and electric ect, Businesses bring in the money and they don’t use it for the basics. I love how you wear Ghanaian designs, promoting our culture.
Absolutelyyy
Aww, they’re going to love those Scottish accents in Ghana. Hope they don’t lose them.
That you for the visuals and details. My wife and I thinking about this as well
Good video Vanessa Kanbi, greetings from the Netherlands always.
How about a series of interviews with Ghana musicians - gospel and pop? But not the usual entertainment gossip, just conversations about being a musician in Ghana, life in Ghana, etc...
I’m not a musician but being one in Ghana is difficult. The scandals are way too much
I live in a town not far from Accra, about an hour and a few minutes drive from Accra. Lots of stool lands for sale, good road, 24/7 water and electricity supply. Lots of fresh foodstuffs from the farms around, lots of resorts for visitors
vanessa, when are you going to visit eko atlantic in nigeria and do a tour of the apartments and also visit abuja?
I’m glad you are staying in Ghana 🥳
Another great video Vanessa. So glad you're enjoying Ghana. You're an inspiration for us all. And your hair...wow! Please let us know who your hairdresser is, for when we visit...:-)
Tell me about a long distance relationship from the US to Ghana
