About lack of sidewalks/pavement, I agree it is such a big problem especially when most people walk to so many places even to a trotro/bus station, market, or neighborhood store.
However, the fact that where there is a side walk, let’s say Makola Market and almost the entire Central Business District in Accra, traders always set up on the sidewalk/pavement causing pedestrians to walk in the street. When they get evicted they complain and comeback. It is so difficult to understand this.
Interesting enough BelAqua was my go to bottled water as the other brands did not work for me. Satchel water is water I used for cooking and brushing my teeth because it is way cheaper and not drinking it directly it was not causing stomach troubles.
Mosquitos are a menace and not very easy to deal with. Unfortunately they can bite you during the daytime as well. You have to use several ways you mentioned to prevent being bitten.

Pavements, houses having toilets, gutters being covered are a 'novelty' to us. Growing up I didn't see these things and I thought it was normal until I grew up and my eyes opened.
Our authorities would build roads and not include sidewalks, would build drains without covering them, landlords would build houses without toilets etc etc.
Sellers sell on pavements to be closest to buyers to make quick sales. Put yourself in their shoes, you'd do same so you sell faster
In parts of Lagos where long stretches of pavements are cleared of hawkers, people have to drive, walk so many kilometres to access basic stuff. Here where hawkers are allover our pavements, there's easy access to stuff. It's a pro and con. Many criticize and 'praise' the hawkers on pavements thing here in equal measure

You're absolutely right on all the cons.Mosquitos are atrocious down here and the erratic power supply is extremely annoying. Lack of walking pathways are a nuisance. I always walk from my Haatso residence to UG agric arena through the botanical garden for my morning exercise.

Some Ghana tap water can be drank. Water gotten from the Kpong dam, downstream of the Akosombo dam, on the Volta river is clean to drink. There's no illegal mining in the water body so it's quite safe to drink. Ghana water company confirms it's potable, even more than tap water in UK

There's a Kpong dam downstream the Akosombo dam that has plentiful water. Where I live in the Shai area, we're supplied by this dam and always have water.
Ghana water can build overhead tanks in the Adenta etc areas with poor water, pump water from Kpong into them, and let gravity send the water into people's homes. If people get water even 2x a week they'd be ok
