I have this model in stainless steel, which was a long-sought grail purchase 5 years ago despite the newer iterations. I am enamored, however, by the more recent SP300 Seaweed. But like you, I will never part with my early 2000s model other than to eventually give it to my son.
I have the year 2000 America’s Cup Seamaster with white gold bezel which is based on this model! The best ever Seamaster! Wears super comfortable! All time favorite!
I've had all of the usual suspects in my collection over the years, but never an Omega. I have a Christopher Ward C65 Dartmouth, which is influenced by the Omega Big Triangle, and I love it. But that Seamaster you have there is probably the best looking Omega I have seen. Oh dear, I feel more excuses to the wife coming on.
There has to be some half links to the braclet Like their are to the steel version . Also you can change the claps to one omega claps with micro adjustment
Very new to time pieces and design. Crammed a lot of ner de we'lls In to short time scale, and learned. I only know the value, you sir sold 2 very important pieces in my life to me. Sight...design Heart...internals Mind... attachment, to my life, journey. Cheers, Glasgow boy.
What bugs me is how Citizen who pioneered Titanium watches have for 600€ better grade Titanium with proven superduratect coating while Tudor(who's have inferior Titanium alloy) and Omega can charge up to 7k€ for softer Titanium. P.S. Submariner and mm 300 are the greatest dive watches ever.
had a titanium PO which helped balance it on wrist since it's quite thick. but after awhile i felt like i needed the heft of steel so it didn't stay. also tried a titanium aquis and a titanium certina. again both didn't last long.
micro adjustment is one of the most overrated nit-picks I've seen lately. I've never had a situation where the lack of has affected my usage or purchase decision. A good to have but not critical lol
Good job insulting the vast majority of Omega SMP300M owners with your largely unpopular, poorly selling sword hands Seamaster. Thats the way to garner a following of Omega malcontents, lol.
it is worth mentioning that if you go with the steel versions, there are several aftermarket bracelet options out there now that DO offer microadjusts. The best of the options out there right now is probably the Forstner Bullet. OFC, this won't match a titanium variant. Personally titanium watches cry out for good FKM rubber straps over bracelets anyway to play up the lightweight nature.
I'd really wish Omega build a re-interpretation of their military Seamasters. Sword hands, grippier bezel, the rectangular indices. Basically more functional and less fanciful styling. But with applied indices.
Great review! I have the 2254.50. I totally agree this series of these seamasters really grow on you over time. Initially they can be kind of plain. It really shines on a nato, giving that great milsub feel.
I have the 2255.80 and the 2234.50 and love them both. Never thought about the micro adjustment. Just wear them a bit looser. On the hunt for the 2254.50 In addition to the sword hands, these watches have the Speedmaster style bracelet which is, I believe, much more attractive than the Bond bracelet.
Really enjoyed this video - biased because I own the 2254.50 but I really like the presenter's understated but knowledgeable take on his version of a modern classic
Great review and spot on the hits and missed of this watch. I own the 2232.80 which is the Electric Blue Titanium one. I almost made the mistake of selling it. Watch is perfect and u barely feel it on the wrist. I also love the Titanium construction downplays the watch even more, this one goes under the radar like no other watch. Cheers!
I have the 2232.50 and the 2255.80 and love them both. Both get more wrist time than my Aqua Terra. Great stuff. I did get the bezel insert changed to the 2254 black insert and it looks amazing.
@@jordanJohnn The AT is bulkier wearing than the 2255 and 2232 (which are dimensionally identical the 32 being titanium). The case is much thinner and the edges feel to be more organically broken and more comfortable. Thinner and more svelt. The lume on the AT is disappointing compared to the sword hands but that is to be expected and not a fair comparison but it's pretty much not functional to see at night without an external light source. But my needs and wants may be different. I have a 7 3/8 wrist so not small and the AT is just more bulky. That being said, it looks amazing!
I have the blue version from new It is my favourite And wear mine on a Artem sailcloth strap with a aftermarket titanium buckle that perfectly matches the colour and style of the omega
Of course there's no micro adjustment, the watch is from 2005. However, Omega's clasps of that era were gorgeous, low-profile affairs that integrated perfectly into the rest of the bracelet. I'll take that over the thicker, bulkier clasps of today that do feature micro-adjustment. The aesthetics of Omega's current Seamaster clasps are truly awful. Somewhat surprised to see what appears to be corrosion on those sword hands of such a "young" watch. Seems that in a humid environment like the UK, the gaskets will need to be replaced on a regular basis, regardless of whether the watch needs a full service or not. Nice watch. I have the black-dial GMT version in steel and love it for many of the reasons you mention, including its relatively thin profile.
My 2004 model has only just had its first service this year! bad I know... but the swords on mine are absolutely fine that said they did still replace them on service... so that one seems somewhat of an anomaly or had a really really hard life.
2232 blue here. I adore it. Slightly loose on the wrist, but that works perfectly in the summer. Got the 2254 on rubber too, so a great blue and black steel and titanium pair. Plus a couple of 1960s bakelite Seamaster300s, but that is a different league.
Thanks for the video Richard. Owner of a 2500 Planet Ocean here. Like this 300 version a lot, though would rather have seen it with a ceramic bezel...would have provided a nice contrast with the rest of the watch.
Totally agree that this watch is amazing. I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing the titanium version but the 2254.50 is my favourite watch and I own quite a few. It’s also a bargain against other watch prices.
I have the 2231.80 which is the Ti Electric Blue. The titanium case absolutely transforms this watch over the steel and overly shiny 2254.80 I had before. Luckily the bracelet fits fine so I haven’t had to do the micro adjust clasp mod Ive done to my 2535.80. It’s the perfect seamaster 300m. Great review!
Bought the 2054.50 (2254 with European/Bond 5 link bracelet) in 2002 to commemorate a great year. Knew zero about autos then, but knew I loved the look of the SMP even a little more than the Submariner and the $1,700 2002 price v. $3,500-$4,000 for the Rolex made it easy. Always found the lack of a micro-adjustment an odd choice by Omega. First time I saw this 2231.50 in titanium I was in love, but couldn’t justify the then 4K+ price tag. I agree 100% with your review. It is the ultimate tool watch in titanium.
There’s a way to add a modern Omega micro adjust clasp to this bracelet. I did it on my 2254.50 and it solves the issue of sizing. With the modification, it’s absolutely the perfect watch
I won myself a 2231.50 from auction. Price was only 2100€ and it was a fullset with Omegas service card from 2015. Ive had this watch for 2 days now and i have to say its absolutely amazing timepiece. The only thing that i dont like is that there is no microadjustment, so the watch sits a littlebit loose.
Sir, you have a beauty. I am fortunate in that I have the 2531.80 from 1993 and it has this eautiful patina that makes it extra special for me. But I also have what I consider to be the most beautiful Seamaster of all, the 2006 2255.80 which is like yours except in ss but with the beautiful electric blue dial. I was on the fence about purchasing the newest Seamaster but just don't care for the larger size and because of the modern material it will never age like my 2531.80 which tells a story.
Small point - that's a 300m, not a 300; the Seamaster 300 is a completely different watch - It's a heritage model of the Seamaster line based on the 50's Seamaster.
This is a very cool watch. Iv worn the 2264.50 daily for 15 years and love it as much now as when I first got it. Timeless classic. I swap up the straps every year or so and generally use black leather. This titanium version is very cool
I had my 2231.50 for about 2 years now, seen that a few have retrofitted the newer Omega clasp with the microadjustment on these bracelets, its looks a bit bulkier than the OEM one but could be worth it if you have issues with the wrist growing during the summer. Im using half links to get that perfect fit, they are costly tho..
Sword hands are the best ! Please bring out a model with sword hands and no HEV. It’s a great movement but the design needs updating. Both the hands and HEV don’t work on a tool watch
I totally agree with you about the skeletonised hands on a diver, doesn't really make sense, plus they don't look as good as the solid sword hands. Great simple utilitarian colourway too.
Have the same watch, love to see your passion about it and I completely agree with everything you said, especially about the use of titanium in tool watches! Also, try the Seamaster on a good Tropic strap, the scalloped bezel and svelte design of the watch mean it’ll pair amazingly with such a retro strap. Plus, you get to channel some of the ethos of those 60’s Seamasters
Helium escape looks better also . The new version sticks out to far. Think it’s position is a tad different idk it just looks odd, how ever on this version looks fine
This is the second owners review that i see from you, awesome job on both. Love to see more of your work, does not have to be owners review. stay well. Regards
I have the 2265.80 made back in 1998 and it still works perfectly. The electric blue dial is mesmerizing!
I love the sword hands!
My Dad has the steel version. The best looking dial! Love the thinness

yes its much better than POS overrated rolex! i got the quartz 2264.50.00 its my favorite watch in my collection
If watch makers are going to use Ti they really should use grade 5 rather than grade 2 in order to make it more scratch resistant.
I need one ....I'd love one ...time will tell

buy a 2254. it is the ultimate SMP and you won't go wrong. Mine fits just perfects on 7.5 wrist in all weathers

I have a 40 yr old omega sea master automatic
Where in HK did you eventually find it? Travel there often for work as well and would like to see f I can grab one.
Omega need to go back to these dimensions so bad!
Screw that. Just get a CWC.
micro adjustment is one of the most overrated nit-picks I've seen lately. I've never had a situation where the lack of has affected my usage or purchase decision. A good to have but not critical lol

I had a SM300 white dial and sold it for exactly that reason, it is illegible at night due to the lack of lume on the hands. Just a fact.
2254.50 sword hands. Speedy bracelet. Omega should reintroduce that and it would absolutely kill.
Having my 2265.80 just stolen from me, you never know how much you love it till it’s gone, it was the solid quartz in my collection 😔
I got the 2255.80, steel. I never liked a titanium watch, the look of it put me off and I like the extra weight of steel.
I have this exact model and I'm in love with it! Absolute strap monster too, thanks for the review!
it is worth mentioning that if you go with the steel versions, there are several aftermarket bracelet options out there now that DO offer microadjusts. The best of the options out there right now is probably the Forstner Bullet. OFC, this won't match a titanium variant.

This titanium one looks amazing too
I'd really wish Omega build a re-interpretation of their military Seamasters. Sword hands, grippier bezel, the rectangular indices. Basically more functional and less fanciful styling. But with applied indices.
Yes !!! And either drop the HEV or improve the design to make it more functional
This is not Seamaster 300. Seamaster 300 and Seamaster 300M (now called Diver 300M) are very different watches.
Seamaster 300 pro 2023. Blk dial blk rubber strap sedna 18k gold is my everyday watch. Only timex for working out.
Titanium is more prone to scratching and all you gain is a few grams less on your wrist, which isn’t always desirable. Some “heft” often works well.
a few grams less? its almost half the weight isnt it…
use 3m scotch brite pads
Love this watch , personally I like it over a Rolex sub.

got my 2264 in 2006

hey, can I ask, cause after seeing the AT, it became my grail. why do you personally prefer the other models you have?

I wish Omega would use grade 5 titanium. Grade 2 scratches too easily.
@1:03 - 1:13 it looks like the steel on the hour and minute hands is a bit corroded. Is this something that happens to Omegas?
