2:48 I just saw my Avata 2 snap to the right suddenly a couple days ago (manual mode with controller 3) and have been wondering (as a new fpv pilot) if I just imagined it, it was the wind, etc. I’m glad to see I’m not alone!
This happened to me also four times, on first time it fall to lake. Drone completely fried couldn’t save it. Bought another avata 2. Second time I was able to rescue in the air. On 3rd It crashed to edge of building and guard is broken. 4th fall from 20m to the building’s pool. I was quick enough to save with rice. If you know you know. But that dead thumble is bullshit never seen something like that before you can’t control and it dives.
What you guys are experiencing is called yaw tumble due to the avata 2's nature. There's a bunch of youtube videos how this can be avoided. For those using the motion controller you most likely wont experience it (unless there's high wind) because you cant push the drone as aggressively with the motion controller. Nevertheless, I love my avata 2 and I've started to get a feel for when yaw tumbles can occur. Happy flying!
This is called the yaw tumble. It's the props stalling on their own turbulent air they created. Every single time your props are moving through air they just made turbulent, so like when not moving forward and going straight down or when rotating and flying backwards because of momentum you will have these stalls an the drone will tumble to the left or right. In the newest firmware it automatically corrects for it back to level, but you need to be aware of it, you can easily lose 5 to 10 meters of altiude if you are unlucky. Also the more wind the easier it will happen. I have learned to live with it, not crashed it yet.. But every flight I have like 10 of these or something.
Nice video but I don’t plan to freestyle my Avata 2 I’ll leave that for my 4” 5” & 6” quads lol. I Manly use my Avata 2 for cinematic flights but I’m having range issues. I was flying the other day & I couldn’t have been more than 1/4 mile away & above the trees with clear sight in a church parking lot & my signal strength simply just dropped & I got the dreaded red bar & blurry video. Any suggestion on how to fix this? Frustrating to say the least. Thanks bro!
Purpose built quad will be more fun. I’ve enjoyed flying the Mark5 and want just fly more! Very interesting you had connection issues… only thing I can think of is many other signal interference possibly? I saw a range test the other day from UA-cam and Avata 2 flew 4500 meters. Capped by battery and had to return home.
I love my Avata 2. Buyed it Monday from the DJI Store. Fly More 3er Combo. I am soooo excited about this Drone. Love it so much. At the moment I fly with the RC3 Motion Controller, but when I have a few more knowledge I will buy the FPV 3 RC.
My friend has this drone and I was seriously considering getting one myself. He let me try it in acro mode and I have to say I was very unimpressed. Very unstable compared to my 5 inch diy drone. It's unfortunate b/c I loved it in every other aspect: the ease of use, the incredible flight time.
really enjoyed this video, a nice comparison between dedicated fps and avata. im interested in getting into fpv having flown mini, air2, 2s and mavic 3 classic. I want a new challenge
Watching your crash on the parking lot looked identical to something that mine did just yesterday from a similar orientation and I could not hear the motors in your video but on mine I could hear it in the RPM went jittery and it just started falling and I was able to recover it, and I just blamed it on myself for potentially stalling, the propellers losing lift or me being not smooth but after watching yours do the same thing I’m now questioning if it was a pilot caused incident or not. I’ve only flown about a dozen batteries and it’s my first drone and obviously first FPV so generally, I blame myself.
Judging by most of the comments from my short it’s likely prop wash and due to a sharp yaw turn that causes it. It was prone to the previous Avata model and doesn’t look like it been completely been eradicated in Avata 2. Nice purchase as your first drone btw 👏🏼
@@DimmyV Yeah it's still there but the latest firmware will auto correct for it without losing to much altitude. Still you need t always be aware of it. High speed dive, and lots of wind. You could potentially lose a lot of altitude. If you stall your props to close to the ground, you will hit the ground!
It’s a great video, but also very obvious that it’s not a freestyle drone. DJI is not going to move into areas of drones. My personal opinion DJI has no issues with staying in their lane, which is high end, consumer, friendly drones, and photography based. I think they’re gonna leave all those other types of drones to the guys who are already doing them like the one you used in this video. You are very talented pilot by the way! I like your videos. I just got into it and I have both of the Avatas do you have any videos about the little mini whoops? The ones that you can fly indoors? I wanna know can I get one of those that will work with my DJIPV equipment. Because I’m learning all of this and it can get confusing real fast great video.
Appreciate your insights and thoughts about DJI. Only time will tell. Would be nice for sub250 DJI FPV. Last weeks video was about indoor flying and comparing it to Cinelog25.
No, there is no seperate vtx. Everything is integrated in to one board, except for the GPS unit. And the 4 antennas are in the prop guards. You could ofcourse cut all of that out and connect it to a 5 inch, but you would never be able to arm the 04 air unit. You'd have a low power 25 mw vid signal at the best.
Various factors. Depending on what license you have, drone, confidence in your own ability etc. in short for this flight this was approved with NavCanada and have my advanced license.
