Sharp Twin Famicom is my preferred way to play. I've got the one with the turbo buttons. Honestly I could probably live with an fdsstick, ram adapter, and an original Famicom, but its fun to use and preserve the real disks. Edit: I just got to the part you mentioned the fdsstick. I should have known that was coming. I think we're on the same page when it comes to that kind of thing.
Thanks for the link to the Ebay seller, I just ordered and received the Sharp Twin Famicom with the turbo sliders. The system looks great, works great and arrived quickly. I’m looking forward to start collecting for both systems.
Ever since I got the RetroUSB AVS, I stopped using OG Nintendo hardware. That thing is fantastic. But that Sharp Twin in gorgeous! Great find! I wanted one a while back but when with the SuperGrafx as my 'fun special OG hardware buy.'
Man I didn’t know that little thing to play famicom disk games from a USB adapter exists!! I order one for my self now! I love to play on original hardware but sometimes it’s scary to take my original al disk games out to play them Wow thanks man
I have 2 twin famicoms love these I paid 100.00 refurbished with new belt and 149.00 for my other one I have the red and the black version there is a gray and a black and silver one as well
11:40 I'm not exactly sure but I think the audio without the ram expansion pack has something to do with old capacitors. I've read recapping the twin fixes the lower quality audio. I think had you loaded an actual Zelda disk without a ram cart you'd get the same degraded audio as the N8.
I just got one about 2 weeks ago. I love it. If you go with an rgb mod let us know, I was contemplating doing that myself because it’s my main way of playing NES games but I also like the idea of keeping it original.
Thanks a ton! Yeah I will probably just keep it stock, no real reason to mod it when I have other options to play these games on. May as well leave something untouched!
Incredible, you got one of these. I like the Red one more, but it's design and what it can do; this system it's basicalliy outstanding and gorgeous. Too bad, they are very expensive when if can be found ( no matter color or version )
They aren't that expensive i picked one up on yahoo auctions with a proxy service its cost me £45 and shipping will probably be about 20, that pricing is very similar to buying an nes locally on ebay
I always gotta keep my eyes peeled for a Twin Famicom,Since in my humble it's the most bang for your buck interms of a famicom. I remember Classic Game Room reviewing it ages ago. That way you don't have to track a disk system and a famicom and it's all together.
Very nice. Looks like a great way to play awesome oddities such as Lagrange Point... Still waiting for a satisfying way of playing a repro of that game on an american NES.
So question! I own a Sharp Twin Famicom and just ordered an Everdrive N8, Family Basic Keyboard, Ram Adapter, and an FDStick.. however I do not have the Family Basic cartridge that originally came with the keyboard.. do you happen to know if it's possible to emulate Family Basic via the Everdrive or FDStick or if this is something you could try testing out? The main reason I ask is because I know the Family Basic cart oddly requires batteries and while it's possible to emulate it on pc emulators, I have no idea how that would effect emulation on actual hardware. Thank you!
Ive been trying to research the deal with that because I just see places mention it saying Famicom, and Ive seen that in screenshots etc.... just not finding info on why some say Nintendo instead.
It's odd if used to a more normal orientation. I guess you can get used to it, I can play just fine with it but I guess they did it this way including on the original famicom so the controllers can sit in a tray on the console neatly.
I got the red version from a Japanese eBay seller back in 2011 for just over $200. I used it for about a month, and then it corrupted my Zelda 2 disc and I've been afraid to use it since.
@@Madlittlepixel Yeah, not good. I played just enough to test the disc. When it went to save my progress, it had an error, and then the disc wouldn't load anymore. I thought it might be due to the drive band, that the seller said was refurbished, but I just put it away. I might have to pull it out and give it another go.
When you buy stuff from Japan through ebay I noticed that a lot of sellers say that you have to pay a import tax did you ever have to deal with that? Or is it just a bunch of bull?

Fun to see all of this stuff now days, never heard of any of this as a kid. Keep up the great videos
An important accessory to the Twin Famicom is the Sunsoft Controller that allows you to have a better extension in distance with the cable.
Great to see you do a review on an old console! Love my Twin and I don’t think it gets enough love! Thanks for the content!

Fun video. Love seeing Famicom stuff old and new. This was a good combination of the two things at play. Thanks for sharing with us.

I have the original Disk System & the FDS STICK love it!
Have two Twin Famicoms and two FDS. One of the Twins has NESRGB in it. I love this damn system.
The Sharp Twin Famicom is one of my most wanted retro consoles, might snag one off EBay when I have the chance
FDS rules ! Love the disk system! Great video.
Dude, this is the perfect video for the questions I had
The FDS stick is a great piece of hardware. You're video is what convinced me to buy one
On the switch that you flip, it says cassette and then disk when you set it to play the disk.
watching this ironically after snatching a NES Mini last night (eventhoe I have a Sharp Fami at home)
Everdrives are really the best to go with
Having an automatic disk flipping feature on the Everdrive is awesome. Flipping disks when emulating in retroarch is annoying. this is a good solution

Does the Twin Famicom system plays and insterts NES Cartilages?
You can play NES games but need an NES to Famicom adapter. I have one and tested, works fine. I have this adapter amzn.to/3ifHMrA
Whoa man! Don't mod that machine! If I was you I would keep that thing stock. As always you have some of the best retro coverage on UA-cam today. ;)
Thanks a ton! Yeah I will probably just keep it stock, no real reason to mod it when I have other options to play these games on. May as well leave something untouched!

And the reason why many games where Disk to Cartridge was due to the fact Disk games where cheaper to buy
My sharp keeps needing alignment on the disk drive so at this point im moving to a FDStick to emulate the drive
I really like the FDSStick and have used it more than the actual FDS over the past few years~
@@Madlittlepixel I gotta get the cable or ram adapter to use it. I have the mod already
You could always put lock tight on the spindle fastening screw. And let it sit for about 24 hours. That should keep it from loosening overtime.
That picture looks great. I definitely have to get a 2x
I wonder if you have seen the nes famiclone knock offs systems such as the Polystation.
Who cares?
Twin Famicom is the coolest looking 8bit games console in my opinion.
Very nice. Looks like a great way to play awesome oddities such as Lagrange Point... Still waiting for a satisfying way of playing a repro of that game on an american NES.
It sounds like the everdrive is missing the expansion audio for some reason
Thanks for the video
I never new this even existed. Thanks for sharing with us.
Not so tough now 🤡

Great vid bro!
bro you got em laughing! you were mad af at that case.
Are you able to switch the controllers? And if so, what kinds of controllers? I wonder if it works with the turbo touch 360.
Now I’m curious as to why you have issues with FDS audio on the Everdrive, as that’s my main way of playing FDS games on original hardware.
Its not that I am having the issues lol, its just the Everdrive is not 100% accurate with the sound. Its been worse before newer updates anyway.
$95 for a twin famicom?? Wish I had known about this before.
Mine has the Nintendo logo too
Ive been trying to research the deal with that because I just see places mention it saying Famicom, and Ive seen that in screenshots etc.... just not finding info on why some say Nintendo instead.
I have been wanting a Twin Famicom, but I worry about the belts having to be replaced. Have you had any issues with the belts Ron?
Ive not had any issues, the seller I ordered from put in a new belt on it and it has been working fine.
@@Madlittlepixel Cool! Glad to hear that. I plan on getting one.
The switch says "Cassette / Disk" referring to the cartridge / floppy disk.
great vid
Does that cable on the controller get in the way? Because it's on the side instead of the top, I'd imagine it's be a bother

The only difference with Mario 1 on FDS and cart that I know of is that you get a whole different minus world.
There's a difference in FDS mario 1. The minus world looks very cool
When you buy stuff from Japan through ebay I noticed that a lot of sellers say that you have to pay a import tax did you ever have to deal with that? Or is it just a bunch of bull?
I have ordered a lot from Japan and have never paid any kind of "import" tax.
Try the minus world on FDS famicom disk system super Mario bros! There is three levels!
Hi Score Girl brought me here.
Nice 😎
👍👍
A shame we never got the FDS or equivalent in the US.
I only learned about this from Hi Score Girl.
I just play my NES games on my Samsung Dex Station via Samsung Galaxy S10E
shipping to my country too much a $110
the only way to play Nintendo is the download the emulator
