I need to point out an error in this video. I somehow said "Brain Cancer Institute" instead of "Queensland Brain Institute" in the last update of the video.
The cross river rail delays have got to be a load of crap. The tunnels and stations are mostly built with the first train recently entering from the northern end. And they included maintenance cost for 25 years of an asset that will pay itself off anyways. That said it wouldn’t suprise me if it ends up blowing out even more. Queensland has always been the most expensive state in the country for building these massive infrastructure projects and cross river rail is no different.
Budget blowouts are pretty much a given with any government project (I remember there being an article about it somewhere recently), but triple does smell a bit sus.
@@BrisbaneChannel found out more bad news. apparently at the albert street station, they have poured the wrong concrete for the platform and now they will need to remove it and do it all over again. Someone has really screwed up. (you had one job lol).
The interruption to the bicentennial cycleway was a poor choice for that event, but I cycled through there the a few nights ago and the security guards at the entrance were really nice. They allowed me to cycle through as long as I went slowly.
Hello Adam i love your channel and i really enjoy your content. Also thank you for your informative weekly updates about what's going on aroud the city. I'm sure that It would be much appreciated if you have the time and if you could make a video about where to park your car around south bank, since there is a lot stuff happening right now.. especially the days before christmas😊 Thank you!
The smartest thing to do is to park our car at a Park 'n' Ride near you and take a train or bus into South Bank. There will be trackwork closing much of the rail network from the 21st, but rail buses will take the routes over, and the regular buses will still be operating - with some extra services added over the pre-Christmas late trading days.
The new mayor of Redlands campaigned on not allowing any new developments or even Olympic infrastructure to be built in Redlands, so it is no surprise there is no news :(
Rob’s sponsored by mobile computer geeks too btw why does the mobile computer geeks logo look like the duolingo owl but more geekier if that is a word and seeing that there is no red squiggles or dots under the word should mean that it is a word
The record breaking 16 year old runner's name isn't gout gout, It's actually guot guot. The father did an interview expressing this and the reason why it isn't correct. Just a heads up 👍
Actually, it still is until it changes legally. The lad himself stated he preferred to keep the Gout Gout name. I suppose the parents could change it legally as he is under 18.
@@BrisbaneChannel His father says it should be Guot, pronounced Gwot but his manager says it's Gout and it's not going to change so it could be either I guess.
All the rental changes do is make it easier for people to avoid capital gains tax as claiming their new investment property is their primary residence.... Ridiculous that we have spent so much on this stupid cross river rail, and still dont have a driverless system like sydney. I mean i trust a train driver more than any stupid hopeless brisbane bus driver, but its stupid that its costing so much and is instantly redundant and out of date once complete.
Those renting out rooms in their house still need to pay capital gains taxes on the rental income (assuming they aren't negative gearing) and also have to pay capital gains taxes when selling their home. This new rule is for the stamp duty deduction when purchasing. Currently, if you are a first-time home buyer and live in your house, you pay less tax at the time of purchase. The new rule means if you live in your house but rent out a room or two, this still counts for this purchase tax break. That said we need to eliminate negative gearing for landlords of existing homes who rent them out. Its rediculous that costs can be deducted against their salary allowing them to pay no income tax.
No sympathy for the cyclists who had to dismount - karma for not respecting the speed limits or other rules on shared pathways (legally blind pedestrian commenting)
totally agree. Walked along the path daily to and from work and the cyclists turned the section of the bikeway through the construction zone into a bike race.
Same for car drivers, we need to let hotels put food trucks in the middle of the road and ask the drivers to push their cars through the street, too. So many car drivers also break the law, like not giving pedestrians the right of way in slip lanes, which is extremely dangerous.

Look so does everybody, but a Bikeway is designed to keep cyclists off the roads. So now it's really unfair when you're interrupting them on their own designated Bikeway

Long may The Brisbane Channel thrive. Such a pleasure to watch.
Thanks!

Thanks so much

Thankfully there's plenty of non-Olympics things happening across the 5 LGAs, but what you've shared is good to know as well.
Does that mean the planned Olympic Redland Whitewater Centre won't proceed

Investments in leisure like recreational areas and bridges but nothing for manufacturing. This won’t end well
Whats with the low af flight paths lol
I may be examining that in a future video...
