RANCH LOL bro we got so many cool sauses that make ranch look like seagull shiet
He thought Halal was a food brand like McDonald's just another willfully ignorant American never leaves his bubble.
It’s spelt ‘sauces’!
@@janmortimer1758 sorry miss
The best thing about multi cultures in Australia is the food. Yummy.
Yes,l agree. And we generally live in harmony together.
True. I walked down this street in Sydney and I counted more than ten differennt countries cuisines. The downside was that it's becoming harder to choose.
And music
Four seasons in one day in Melbourne.
😂
Better than Sydney where it pisses down non-stop for days 😓😓😓
Worst weather in Australia
Melbourne has England weather. The absolute worst in all of Australia!
I've been to Melbourne several times, and I must have been lucky, as the weather was lovely each time.
Melbourne being rainy is a complete misconception, it's the driest major city in Australia. It's just unpredictable so it's common for days to have a quick 5 minute shower pass over the city. Generally though it literally just lasts a few minutes and that's it for the whole day. The more humid northern cities get more than double the rain because it rains hard for days (very uncommon in Melbourne).
Not sure Melbourne is the driest major city but if you are comparing it with Sydney, then Melbourne is drier. Of the capital cities Adelaide is the driest.
I'm surprised you haven't seen one of those rotisseries before, Ryan. They're a standard piece of equipment in kebab shops over here.
He was made in a lab a couple of years ago and has never left the facility
And Greek yiros use the same technique.
You really need to get out more.. Hi from Australia and all big towns and capital state cities have kebab shops..mostly around $10 and many like me would pay extra just to have one..The shaved meat melts in your mouth and added salad all explode on taste buds..Also most do large marinated ribs just as tasty.. we were out recently and we paid $27 for 10 large ribs and tray chips.. My son is 45 and a big man and can eat but they were so good we left chips and forced ourselves to eat them all...cheaper than 2 burgers and way out of mac Donald's league and price...go find a kebab shop in city near you or large shops in middle eastern area..xx
@@Luciferhelidon Well, I bet it wasn't the Keba-ba-lab!
@@blueycarlton your comment is shit
My wife gets it all the time from a local Turkish shop. It's soooooooooooooooooo good! That's why we never go to Hungry Jack's or Macca's, because we got insanely tasty food everywhere.
Same here 'cat'. I love them.
we recently got a kebab shop in our town and its great. they are always flat out. they do really good kebabs and HSP's.
I was devastated when my local HSP trailer sold to new owners, went with a party of 8 mates and we all couldn't finish our food, we all threw it out because it just wasn't good, it was less than half the quality we got with the previous owners, portions smaller while paying an extra dollar or two.
This was the spot we went to atleast once every fortnight for the past 3 years, so pretty much regulars to the joint and to have it defiled by the new owners was so sad. Haven't had a better HSP since.
Yesss proper turkish, not indian cooked fake kebabs sooo YUM
lamb is a lot more common here in Aus. I'm having lamb chops for dinner tonight and its not even some sort of 'special' dinner, just a regular Thursday.
I regularly do lamb shanks in the slow cooker. Delicious whatever I add to it.
@@Donizen1 Slow cooked Lamb shanks are incredible.
I love lamb, especially baked leg and shanks 🤤
My mother would be proud of you calling them "chips"! 🤣
I’m on it 👍🏻 I Will be straight over to Indianna to open a “no tipping allowed” HSP shop
No worries mate!👍🏻
Best regards

Halal is the way animals are slaughtered for the muslims
Agree. You can get a kebab anywhere but Halal is for the animals.
Nothing different about how they are killed there’s just some Muslim standing there chanting from the Karan when they die. Halal is actually a joke in Australia
Basically the Islamic version of kosher.
Halal means they've prayed while slaughtering the animal.
Doner kebabs have been around in Melbourne since the late 60s early 70s.
Kebabs were introduced to Sydney in 1965. Souvlakis were in Melbourne well before that. Melbourne has a huge Greek community.
A tip I recently learned, Put left overs in a wrap with cheese, egg and hashbrown (or whatever you want), chuck it in the sandwich press for a mad snack :)
That is genius, microwave doesn't come out real good
@@Lord_Humungus I learned it from a guy in UA-cam comments commenting on an American eating a snack pack so I can't take the credit haha
Melbourne has four seasons in one day, never have to pack away your winter clothes. Melbourne is just beautiful ❤
“If it wasn’t for snack pack a kid would starve” (from the ad). We had Snak Pak in Aus too. Damn, that HSP looks good, now I’m checking out Menulog.
I'm always amazed that Melbourne and Victoria always claim to have "invented" things.
Here in the west we call them Meat Boxes.
Choice of two, sometimes three, meats on top of chips, with or without cheese, and usually a variety of sauces including garlic, aoili, chilli, sweet chilli, bbq.
Have been able to get them from my local kebab shop for over 10 years. Delish.
Think it’s a Victorian thing. Can remember years ago George Calombaris bragging about being the first in Australia to put chips in a souvlaki and thinking he was an idiot because it was a common combination in South Australia. NSW probably have a stronger claim to the origin of the HSP, but for years SA had the “AB” which used Greek style gyros lamb and was previously a secret menu item passed down from uni students after drunken nights out.
Oh boy, I find it beyond belief that anyone older than ten who has ever attended a state/public school, remains unaware of what halal means, or even the word kosher. My grandkids in Oz and in BC see these words each day when looking at choices on the school refectory menu.
You’ve never heard of the world halal before? Mustn’t be many muslims living in America I’m guessing. But I am always amazed at the amount of things you don’t know
It is established fact that not many North Americans are culturally
aware - since their Education system was dumbing down the
population since 1968 - as an experiment of the U.N.
Besides their brainwashing - the people who have not experienced
any kind of residential status overseas are living in a social goldfish bowl.
The internet has to some degree provided 'some' education as to
what life is like in other countries and the culture there.
AUSTRALIA has been richly blessed by is many migrants - much more
than North America.= and we have far fewer social issues by adopting
the best that the world has to offer.
While we are not '' Perfect " [ Nothing in the world is perfect ] -
AUSTRALIA is by far the best country to be in.
But as is everywhere else - the Politicians are the biggest problem-
particularly when they hang on to the apron strings of the
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA -- The Parent -
This is Under the doctrine of ' Parens Patriae ' - ' Government as Parent '
You must mean his brother. Ryan is okay for a septic.. 😅
Here's a quote, "A fool is someone who doesn't know what you just found out about."
@@ebbhead20 umm Ryan is really uninformed of the world 🌎. In the American bubble. I admit he is trying not to be a dumbass naive yank
Do t be to harsh, he does live in Indiana
We only call them French fries if either they are from Maccas or maybe shoestring type chips.
In Sydney , Mixed snack pack. Chips cheese sweet chilli sauce and sour cream ! The best🤗
the sauce is typically Garlic sauce (the white) and BBQ sauce (the brown) but you can put whatever you want on it. On top of chips and cheese, it's just the best when you're hungry
I always order : Mixed Kebab (Lamb & Chicken), garlic sauce, with cheese, onion, tomato & tabouli - never ever get lettuce, as it is just a filler. My local kebab shop tends to give more meat when there is no lettuce!
Ranch isn’t generally used in australia I think it’s in stores it’s just no one buys it😂 I’ve personally never had it😊
Chips with chicken salt of course , cheddar cheese , Beef Kabab meat … better than chicken or lamb … bbq sauce or any other sauce type … in Sydney they are simply a snack pack , you can get them from most Kebab shops , sometimes even from some pizza stores as well … so far you haven’t even tried a Chiko Roll …. Look them up … you will love them as most Aussie’s do !!!!
In Melbourne a steamed dimmie, with soy sauce in a paper bag. AAhhhhh.
Just ordered mine for dinner, it’s a Thursday night tradition at my place, they cost anywhere from $15 - $25 Aud now, but a large will feed 2 adults.
Our local, Burnett Kebebs, does a snack pack, but I always go for the proper Doner Kebab, wrapped in flatbread with lettuce, tomato & onion. If my Babe (daughter) is with me, we’ll get a small chips as well. They make DIVINE chips. With chicken salt, of course.
The Kebab is a Turkish invention - take note of that
@@andrew_koala2974 Thanks, I think I knew that. It’s as Aussie as dim sims, chiko rolls & spag bol now.
HSP is fucking delicious !
Some shops offer sliced jelopino Chilli's with tomatoes ,onion and shredded Lettuce !
Most Aussies get a HSP with the lot and share between two !
And they're great as a pig out with a couple of beers
While watching A.F.L !
REAL FOOTY !
Yes I get mixed sauce with the lot as well what footy team do u go for?
That’s a bogan snack pack, migjt aswell get a kebab
We just had one co-incidently. They arent an everyday food but sure hit the spot sometimes.
Great HSPs near me in Sydney’s inner west too.
Anyone remember Sam Dastyari inviting Pauline Hanson to share one with him on Q&A? She didn’t accept.
Someone should remind her that we pay tax for kosher food too. That might keep her big mouth shut.I noticed her face was on one of the pages that Ryan was showing.🤢
She’s still suffering PTSD from succulent Chinese meals in the 90’s
With a chip shop you’re half way there.
Shish kabob grill meats , hot potatoes of any kind - fries or baked , cheese, sour cream, optional salads , more cheese, more sauce.
Yeah it wasn’t invented in Melbourne. It originated in Adelaide in the early 60’s 😂😂 (two venues in North Adelaide fight over who did it first though).
Home of chicken salt too 😊
I am so hungry now. These days they are around $10 - $14 depending on which area you live in. In Western Sydney, they are typically $12. Easily enough for 2 people.
My teenage son and I recently enjoyed a chicken kebab. Oh man it was amazing. The way the meat gets crispy…so good.
I'm supposed to only eat kosher but I still can't help going out to the local kebab joint and getting a furious snackpack every now and then.
A lot of migrants from Lebanon, Turkey, Syria and other countries with kebab culture in Melbourne.
Have to have fresh tomatoes and tabouli salad with with the kebab too, with lots of hummus as well.
I just had leftover HSP for lunch! I prefer sweet chilli than normal chilli.
At home, I add worcestershire sauce. 😋
Just chilli and garlic sauce for me. Hold the BBQ. Maybe throw some tabouleh on there, too. 🤤🤤🤤
We used to live in Melbourne many years ago and there was a Souvlaki Shop in Brunswick called the Penguin. Man, the absolute best. Sadly long gone I believe.
I always thought the HSP originated in Western Sydney around Auburn. Delicious anyway.
Hey Ryan, been loving your content lately.
yeah it's crispy and juicy, very yummy... and also is nicely marinated and flavoured. We also have beef done like that. We can often get it in combo of chicken, beef and lamb put all together (or we just choose it individually). This kind of thing is common all over Australia (not always done as halal though, sometimes it's put into a wrap (flat bread) with salad also in it or put into a container with gravy or like you see here on a bed of hot chips with a garlic sauce (or a hot sauce) over it. (when something is Halal it just means that when the meat was killed that the animal was then well bleed out, it's a Muslim thing, so this kind of food isn't always one in the halal way).
We do have ranch, it's just not that popular compared to other sauces.
Ryan you absolutely need to have a kebab or HSP I believe your mouth was watering watching the guy make it 😂😂😂
Not a chance when he finds out what Halal means . He thinks Halal is a food brand like McDonald's not a method of meat preparation. Just another willfully ignorant American who never leaves his bubble.
They are utterly amazing ❤️❤️. They are way more expensive at the moment due to a cooking oil shortage, which has impacted chip production. The cooking method is from the south and eastern Mediterranean

Im pretty certain he can find some place in the US that does these meals. Most countries have the cuisine of the world by now.. 😊
@@ebbhead20 not a chance he'll be very lucky to find one . He wouldn't eat it anyway when he finds out what Halal is a means of meat preparation. Not a food brand as he put it he thinks it's like McDonald's.
My son introduced me to HSPs. I had never heard of them until a year or so ago. You are correct; they are very filling and delicious.
Can confirm that these are absolutely delicious - mixed meat, garlic sauce and chilli sauce all the way
"Chips" just rolled off your tongue there, Ryan 😊
Have eaten there often. Fantastic.
Having been to this particular kebab shop many times after a late night at the peel hotel, I can vouch for them, they are the best kebabs I've had in melbs outside of my friends restaurant (Called 'Stick it) which is on the the same street. Great service and very friendly staff, Smith kebabs is very much known by anyone living or visiting the area.
Whenever I eat a HSP I wish that I could be shrunk down so that I can swim through it while eating it. It's delish!!
Have had a few HSPs from this place after a night out in Collingwood. Can confirm it's top tier! Chicken and lamb combo is a must.
HSP is different to kebab. Kebab is meat, salad and sauce wrapped in flat bread (like a souvlaki). Adding cheese is extra $. Looking at uber eats, home delivery food, from the shop in the video, currently the HSP of this size is $19.95 plus $3.99 delivery fee. The kebabs are priced at $18.95. The video you watched is pre covid when prices were realistic. At my local shop in Epsom, Bendigo, Victoria a kebab is $13.80 and a large HSP is $17.30 and our shop is brilliant. Melbourne prices are mental and so are all prices of takeaway food during and after covid lockdown. BTW my favorite is called Iskender Kebab...A bed of rice with meat on top and tomato sauce and garlic sauce. You can change sauces if you like and you can also add cheese for extra.
i love mine with lamb beef and chicken, i add tabbouleh, cheese, tziki and Satay sauce.... best feed ever!
most of us have garlic sauce and sweet chilli sauce on it. HSP is a kabab meat, most afghan take away shops make it
Melbourne is like Vancouver, all four seasons in one day!
Our local Fish & Chip shop don't use Halal meat, they use normal lamb or chicken. There are some shops that specifically tell you what sort of meat they use. We don't have Chili sauce either, we have sweet Chili sauce. Last thing non-halal packs are called Hercules Snack Packs. They are yummo!! 😋😊
Must be Greek owned!
Everyone has their own order as well. Mine is double chicken, double cheese, BBQ sauce and sour cream. 😋
Australia can gets a lot of rain and Melbourne is notorious for getting lots during winter
I live in the south east of Melborne victoria Australia and yes we get a lot of rain and the HSP is very good lots of places around here have it
Its often called just a Snack Pack, some places call it a Road Kill pack amongst other crude names for it, but one of the BEST things Hot chip stores make!
I love beef and chicken with chips, regular salt, cheese, garlic and hummus OMG
I think they are called ABS here in South Australia .. they are very satisfying food.
I’m watching his eyes I can snatch it right out his hands that’s not a snack, that’s a meal. ❤❤
It's basically the same method used for the kebab/souvlaki meat
I love HSPs. It’s and awesome meal and comfort food. I normally just get lamb. Now I’m hungry…… All the best from Melbourne Australia.
We had/ve snack packs in Australia as well similar to yours Ryan. I'm from SA, so it's def. AB pack or afterbirth pack here and they've been around for donkey's years, longer than the hsp.
A PIE FLOATER WOULD REALLY CONFUSE RYAN
Been a while since I have had one, nothing like a late night snack pack covered in the holy trinity after being out drinking.
In Australia thin cut potatoes are fries and thick cut chips
Glorious yum. Friday night im going to get one.
On rain: it rains on more days in Melbourne but the total annual rain jn Sydney is way higher
And Queensland as it’s tropical.Sydney is sub tropical.I love a good Sydney storm.
I had one last night and it was amazing.
Melbourne: four seasons in a day!🐊🇦🇺🦘
I would definitely add salad ingredients!
HSP's done right are fantastic.
Gee thanks Ryan, now I’m hungry too 😡😂
Some Greek places make HSPs with pork gyros. They usually call it something like Hellenic Snack Pack
I remember having the Snack Pack Puddings growing up in Australia, don't think they have them anymore
the thing is that you can get a HSP with a 600ml (~ 20 fl oz) drink for as little as 20 AUD or 12.88 USD at current exchange rates
Its like you have never seen middle eastern food before 😁 We have snack pack pudding here too
Great food for after drinking and party
When you called them chips, I laughed. I'm a US native, LA born with a Sydney born kid; I've been here going on 27 years and I still can't call them "chips!"
Let it go Man!
Kebabs are popular in Ireland and the UK. The meat is served on a bed of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, chilli and garlic. It's a meal in itself. Chips, if required, are served separately. TBH, the meat piled on chips looks a mess.
That HSP would have been around $18 Australian, the $7.99 was for a doner kebab, like a burrito but made with the special kebab meat and salads along with sauces etc. These days you pay around $25 for a HSP, or at least that's what it costs in Western Australia. Its enough food to feed my husband and I twice (the HSP).
we had the dessert snack packs here too, I always wanted them as a kid but my mum never let me have it
Halal, I think means the food was prayed over before distribution 😁
So I made this comment at the beginning of the video 😂
Couldn’t have been any wronger 😂
Food looks awesome and delicious 😋
The closest thing I can have up here on the Sunnycoast is a Souvlaki. Lamb, chicken cooked and sliced the same, with lettuce tomato onion cheese and a selection of other things you can add like olives and jalapeños wrapped in a toasted wrap like a tortilla 😁 absolutely delicious after a good night out 👍
Hi from Queensland Australia our snack packs are 20 to 25 aud and the best sauce for a mixed hsp is barbecue, sour cream and hot chilli sauce so good if you ever come down under or upside-down 😂😂 then you have to try one.
That snack pack is huge. I could only eat a third of that, but I reckon it would be yummy 😋
In south Australia we have the A. B. OR Roadkill both are very similar to these
Hi Ryan when you come here you should try, from the same type of kebab shop, the falafel, tabouli and hummus wrap. Soooo good. Nobody does it better than the middle eastern shops.
here in south australia halal snack packs are called AB packs
HSB at my local kebab place - halal snack box. Add some tabouli and get a slight zing from the parsley.
These snack packs are delicious
And now I'm tempted to grab one for dinner....
Best hangover cure in the known universe. That HSP was sized for two people. Yes, it's a version of poutine but I like it much better. Any leftovers go into a jaffle (chips and all) for a monster good breakfast.
Garlic, Chilli and BBQ. The holy trinity of sauces.
I know it as the "Pauline Hanson snack pack" lol
Never heard of it as a HSP in the west. Was just a mixed meat box from the kebab shop tonight when I I got my mine for dinner. Was $21 with the chips, salad and taboli option topped with garlic and satay sauce
Ryan we have the snake packs over here as well in Australia
I've been trying to decide what to get for dinner.
Now all I can think about is my local charcoal HSP. 🤤
This has to be a Melbourne thing. I have never seen anything like this in Sydney at all. Then again, we don't have coffee like Melbourne either. But we are on the Harbour city, so I'm still not moving down back to my hometown, after 30 years in Sydney.
I like my heart! ;)
