Finally someone who doesn't run to Chinatown when visiting Singapore. Thank you for exploring the Sultan Mosque area and experiencing our Malay Muslim (and Indian) food/culture. You're the man! 😊✌️
Assalamualaikum Brent, i'm a chinese muslim in Singapore, so happy you're finally here. you went to the right place at Zam Zam and their chicken/ beef murtabak is the most famous in Singapore. Can't wait to watch the rest of your vids 😊❤
Zam Zam an Victory (literally next to each other) are the more popular ones and my go to when there. . Tks for sharing the Al Tasneem which I hv nvr tried but will do when I return to SG next. You simply MUST try the Ramadan Bazaar in Geylang during this fasting month before u leave. Best 2 go in the evening.
Being a Muslim from the UK, I have been to Singapore 3 times and every time I have been to Sultan Mosque and ate food along Haji Street and the surroundings around the mosque - it was awesome and didn't disappoint
Next time you come over to Singapore i recommend you visit Geylang Serai market, and Bedok Corner hawker center it is a heaven of halal food spoilt of choices.

The call to prayer is beautiful. The voice you can hear is the imam of the mosque reciting the prayers out loud, u normally only hear this inside the mosque but they must have windows open and speakers in full blast . ❤
The Malay world (which includes communities of Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Southern Thailand and Indonesia) can do wonders with the three magical ingredients…. Pandan, Palm sugar and coconut!
sultan mosque is the only mosque that can call to prayer with ultra loud speakers. for muslims, we pray 5 times a day. the call to prayer takes abt 3mins each prayer itself takes ard 10-15mins. after prayer, the imam usually reads more supplications for ard 5mins. when you add it all up, yeah its around 25-30mins total :) and its 5 times a day! thanks for enjoying the halal food scene in Singapore! appreciate it alot! :)) btwww epok epok is pronounced as aye-pok eh-pok/(like how u say the letter A) a-pok/aye-pok. hahahah
The beauty of Halal food in Singapore is that you get to savour food from all over the world in accordance to the Halal guidance that's given strictly by the Islamic Council of Singapore. I mean often times when you have Muslims coming to certain countries they'd be skeptical or apprehensive on whether the food is Halal or not so they'd only resort to only consuming food that they're familiar with. Like when you have Indian Muslims or Muslims from the Middle-east coming to Singapore, they would not venture food that's beyond their own culture. But given the melting pot of Singapore's culture we [Singaporeans] are lucky get to try food from all the corners of the world that are in accordance to the Halal preparation. And for that we're glad to say that we're progressive enough from being tunnel-visioned and expand horizon in trying not just food but our way of thinking as well.
You should try "hajjah maimunah restaurant" its nearby the mosque. Best to go in the morning to avoid lunch crowds. After lunch they only sell leftovers.
Finally! A vlogger that explores & reviews Singapore food truly! Thank you so much for sharing our delicacies to the world😊Truly appreciate all your vlog about Singapore foods 👍
Bro its not the call to prayer , its recitation of the Quran during prayer which is only read out loud during Farj(morning prayer) Magrihb Prayer (sundown Prayer) Isha (night prayer) And Jummah prayer Friday prayer . But you'll always hear the call to prayer before every prayer.
Dudeeeeeee you are soooo cool! As a muslim Singaporean, I'm so glad and proud that you as a vlogger you explore Arab Street and tried the Halal foodies here! You got me and my partner to subscribe to your channel and sharing this to my friends and family. 😁👊 Have a safe trip wherever you are now!

I'm a Malay/arab/Indonesian Muslim in Singapore, born here and have lived here ever since... Sultan mosque or masjid Sultan is the only mosque in Singapore that is allowed to record their prayers and call of prayer through the speaker to be heard throughout the area. What you've been hearing is the call of prayer or adhan for the first five minutes and the rest is the heavy prayer called sholat. If i was there i would have recommend you to have dinner at Kedai Minang it mainly prepare dishes from padang(west Sumatra) and locally malay dishes, as a cook i can really say it's quite delicious
Hey bro, if you're still in Singapore, you should check out Geylang Serai Bazaar during this fasting month. The food is pricier but soak in the festive vibes. Enjoy Singapore!
No such thing as "Muslim food". Food can be halal or non halal, but each Islamic country has its own culture & cuisines which vary greatly from others.

Hi Brent... What you thought was the call of adzan is actually the prayers recitation. For congregational prayers at Sultan Mosque, the Imam's recitation is broadcasted over speakers (it's the only mosque allowed to do that in Singapore) > with exception during Ramadhan, where most mosques are allowed to broadcast the prayers recitations.
Teh Tarik/ Teh Terik - is pulled tea. Tarik means Pull. The tea is made frothy by pouring from one glass to another glass from a distance, back and forth.

Hi Timm Best biryani : Shami banana leaf (mutton & chicken) at Northpoint shopping centre at Yishun Best Lamb mandi : tabbouleh at arab street Best carrot cake : sengkang kopi tiam ( halal) The place that you went to is for tourists. Perhaps you can try taking the train and explore more of Singapore
Beg to differ....Arab Street is best for tourist because of Sultan Mosque and the history behind of this area. The tourists come here to take pictures.BUT the locals love to come here too.
Crispy Potato or Sardine Curry Puffs are always nostalgic. In our early not so rich years of Sg, our Makcik (Malay Aunts), carried a basket go doors to doors with their home made curry puffs. Then was like 5 or 4 delicious piece for a dollars, best with Kopi.
In the mosque First one was call for prayer. And then 5 minutes was the actual prayer service. In some places the prayer also made on loudspeaker if the sound doesn't reach the attendance in the back.
Thank you so much for making this, really was looking for a video like this one to see what kind of halal food Singapore has. Looking forward to visit in October. Looking forward to other videos of you. Greetings from a Dutch Moroccan

We don't have deer farms in Singapore nor do we have wild deer in Singapore. At least, not that I'm aware of. You can find them at the Singapore zoo though! 😂 I'm pretty sure their deer meat supply is imported from Malaysia or Indonesia. P.S. It's nice to see a tourist doing a vlog on muslim food. Muslim food in Singapore is sadly always overlooked by travel vloggers.
Bless you for being a positive voice for Muslims when they need it the most and when the whole world is bullying and spewing hatred towards them. May Almighty bless you beyond - Amen ✨
Hello Brent u asked about the prayer at the mosque. Muslims pray 5 times a day. So 4he azan call to prayer happens 5 times aday. And the prayer u had that took long was actually the actual prayer. That was 1 of rhe night prayers
You have yet to try the Malay / Nusantara food: Nasi Ambeng (originally Javanese meal) at Padi (Bussorah Street) / Nasi Padang (originally West Sumatran cuisine) at Rumah Makan Minang at Kandahar Street / Pariaman - Kandahar St /North Bridge Rd/ Hjh Maimunah (Jln Pisang)!😋😋😋
Hey Brent, you can try Teh Halia (tea) or Kopi Halia (coffee). Halia is ginger. So it's ginger milk tea or ginger milk coffee. You can tell them kurang manis - pronounced "koo-rung maH-nis" if you want it less sweet. I usually love it hot.
Hi Brent, looking good you enjoy singpore halal food. Singapore Murtabak, I belived its much tasty then Malaysia or Indonesia. There are many halal food in Singapore. Go to Geylang Serai Hawker Center, there you can find malay authentic food which is halal. There are so many stall and very nice local desert.

These 2 restaurant have been rivals to each other. If looking for cheap eats head down to South Bridge Rd, Golden Mile Food court.
Thanks for visiting our country! Epok-epok (Pronounced Ayepoke-Ayepoke) is known as "Curry Puff" in English. Usually, it has has Curry paste/Eggs/Sardines as filling. I would reccomend you trying Teh Tarik (Less Sweet) and also Masala Tea (Which is tea with spices). Next time you come back to Kampong Glam, try Bhai Sarbat Teh-Tarik (Famous tea shop, try their Masala Teh C Less Sweet)!
The popular usage "786" - mostly in the signboards of Indian Muslim shops and restaurants. It is a number which symbolizes the Arabic word "Bismillah-irrahman-irrahim". As a short explanation, the Arabic alphabets are assigned with numbers where Alif is ascribed as the number 1, up to Ghayn which is ascribed the number 1000. When all of these numeric values in the word "Bismillah-irrahman-irrahim" are added, the sum total would be 786. This is how this number is used as a numeric form of the word "Bismillah-irrahman-irrahim". Therefore, instead of writing the word "Bismillah-irrahman-irrahim" on the signboard, they just use the number "786".
has no islamic significance in accordance to hadith and quran, it was a thing from the south asian continent, According to Hinduism 786 means “Trimurti” that represents Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara. Brahma the most superior among Trimurti related to number 7. Lord Vishu “The Preserver” relates to number 6 and accordingly, number 6 denotes to “the destroyer of evil and transformer” lord Shiva himself. According to Vedic dharma followers 786 means “OM” has a connection with Kabbalah. In one of the books of Rafael Patai, he says that there are few similarities between Tantra and Kabbalah which give an indication that the number 786 gets originated from Hinduism. There are 3 Lokas in Hinduism, Swarg Lok (heaven), Prithvi Lok (earth) and Patal Lok (below the earth). The heaven where Inder dev resides relates to number 7. It is also believed that any human who follows good deeds will get a place in heaven with Inder Dev. Number 8 relates to Prithvi Lok which is Earth. It is also called as Mirtyu Lok which means the world of death. It denotes that every person who takes birth on earth has to attain death someday compared to the Swarg Lok. While number 6 relates to Patal Lok which means the surface below the earth. It represents the region of the Nagas, ruled by Vasuki (demons of the serpent).
@@keemarotichaibro, just because the words Lima is used in Peru and in Singapore, doesn't make it the same meaning. Same logic applies to 786. Every indian Muslim local knows it refers to Bismillah.
@@johnwig285 bro, there is no basis in the religion for it. It was never mentioned in religious texts nor by esteemed scholars. It is only prevalent in indian subcontinent. It has been passed down from generation to generation. It is derived from hindu numerology. Ur analogy is baseless. It is not used in the general muslim world. Just because its used by indian muslims doesnt mean its correct. There are alot of practices in the indian muslim diaspora that have their roots from hindu practices. Its not a religion thing. Its a cultural thing. Dont confuse it.
Singapore is still mostly cash based. Credit Cards are mostly accepted by restaurants and in most shopping malls... But small mum and pop shops still prefer cash.... No commission needed to pay to the banks...
@@arbaeyahmohamed5688 Yes.... Singapore has a system called "PayNow" which you can pay by using your phone to scan a QR code. But for the average Western or non ASEAN tourist... Unless you have a bank account that has agreements with the local banks... That won't be possible. Most hawkers and small business owners refuse to accept Credit Cards is due to the fee imposed by the banks and/or the Credit Card company.
if you want to eat Halal food for 24 hrs. You only need to go two place Geyland Serai and also Tekka - for cheap and very good Halal food. I am surprised not many people suggested that to you.
best place to eat is the area you at. Especially those arabic restaurant or best malay meets western fusion, is malayan council. Malayan council desserts are not bad too. But if anybody wish to visit a trendy food and halal, well this is the area to be at.
Brent, food as long as it's meat you've to check if it's halal, fish, vegetarian and drinks are mostly halal by default except for alcoholic beverages. Singapore has a clear halal sign on every store and we've a variety of halal foods, so we go for an officially halal establishment usually, where even the fish is not cooked in a non-halal kitchen. You need a much longer time to explore all the fusion foods here, hope you enjoy it while it lasts 😊

Great exposure bro Brent, you made the world know that there's Muslims of various race and halal food in Singapore. ❤🇸🇬👍
Happy to share :)
Zam-zam is my favorite for murtabak and biryani in SGP but if you wanna try authentic Malay/Indonesian cuisine please go to Hajjah Maimunah 😋
Thank you so much, I will definitely check it out. I really appreciate your recommendations!
The mosque in the background looks surreal it’s absolutely stunning. I want to visit Singapore one day ❤
There is a mengo fruits but the store lazy to buy the fresh one. Chendol made from Pandan flour, red bean, coconut milk and plum suger
Hi Timm
Best biryani : Shami banana leaf (mutton & chicken) at Northpoint shopping centre at Yishun
Best Lamb mandi : tabbouleh at arab street
Best carrot cake : sengkang kopi tiam ( halal)
The place that you went to is for tourists.
The place is so clean, it almost looks like the streets you get at theme parks.
Because he didn't go to Chinatown. Its dirty there. Local Chinese aren't dirty, but mainland Chinese is a different story.
Thank you so much for making this, really was looking for a video like this one to see what kind of halal food Singapore has. Looking forward to visit in October. Looking forward to other videos of you. Greetings from a Dutch Moroccan
The place where you had the briyani is indeed AMAZING
Enjoying this Singapore 🇸🇬 series!
Couldn't be any more happier for u to hit almost 150k subs. Been following you since you had 3k subs. Great personality bro. Khuda hafiz for now n cheers 🎉
Wow! You have no idea how happy this comment made me. 3000 subs feels like a lifetime ago, so I am very thankful and appreciative of all your support.
@@BrentTimm u absolutely deserve it bro. Thank you aswell
You're making us drool!! Can't wait to see more foodie adventures in #VisitSingapore
More to come! Let’s connect on Instagram, and create something really special together!
Bless you for being a positive voice for Muslims when they need it the most and when the whole world is bullying and spewing hatred towards them. May Almighty bless you beyond - Amen ✨
There are not deer farms in Singapore, I think. There are deer farm on the Malaysian peninsular and on the Borneo island especially in Keningau.
Hello Brent u asked about the prayer at the mosque. Muslims pray 5 times a day. So 4he azan call to prayer happens 5 times aday. And the prayer u had that took long was actually the actual prayer. That was 1 of rhe night prayers
Thanks for the info!
WOW!!! I really enjoy following your channel for the Muslim and Pakistani food tour! Your videos are amazing with all the glorious food!!!! ❤
You have yet to try the Malay / Nusantara food: Nasi Ambeng (originally Javanese meal) at Padi (Bussorah Street) / Nasi Padang (originally West Sumatran cuisine) at Rumah Makan Minang at Kandahar Street / Pariaman - Kandahar St /North Bridge Rd/ Hjh Maimunah (Jln Pisang)!😋😋😋
Yes the teh tarik is damn gooooddd! Hope you had a good time in Singapore
Brent I really like your vlogs , pls continue food + travel vlogs.
The beauty of Singapore - Being able to sit in a quiet alley, do your thing and have some good food ....
Tasneem..my all time favorite!
Welcome to Singapore!
Go to Mustafa centre, you will find south east asian food! Such as Bangladeshi food also many regions of Indian food.
Bangladeshi bd Indian are south Asian…. Not south East Asian
Teh Tarik = Pulled Tea caused the tea is pulled to create those foams on top of the tea.
Thanks for the amazing video. I've done a list of iftar places for this year 2024.
Explore the hawker culture here next time! We have plenty of hawker centres selling hearty homecook like food which is close to the hearts of many singaporeans!!😊
Next time! 💚💚
the big mural at the Teh Tarik shop is brand new, only a few months old, and one of the many murals around Arab Street.
Wow! Didn't realize that Singapore has so many varieties of Biriyani. Thanks for uploading it.
I’m happy to share! Thank you for watching
You make anything ordinary look exciting, love your enthu and happy go lucky character 😁
I feel you. I like going cashless so it sucks if credit or contactless payment not accepted or available. But then again, i don't like that some place is charging customers for credit or contactless payments.
Please go to Geylang Serai food market on Sunday
You have a very positive vibe and can see your genuine interest and respect to learn more abt other's beliefs and cultures. :) Keep it up!
Restaurant Hajjah Maimunah - must try 🥰
🇲🇾🇸🇬✌️
It's great to see that you are still using the shirt you bought from Bangladesh
I love this shirt! Good catch!!
786 is usually associated with saying bismillah
Oh wow I learned something new! Thank you.
@@BrentTimm btw this video is 10/10 the type of content that people will love watching. Please no Collab with tasteguy and others, you don't need them, your USP is being a lone wolf exploring and showing us the exploration
786 means nothing... it's just misconception 🙄🤷🏽♂️
@@shahmamun1869not true, it's a numerical representation using an old numerical system that can be applied to Arabic. It means just as much as "Bismillah" or any other system to represent Arabic in another manner.
Sami Jannat 786 has nothing to do with Islam
Hi Brent if you ever hit arab st / victoria St again the best Murtabak is at either Zam Zam or Victory Restaurant
these 2 have been around since before Singapore independence.
Thank you for trying and tasting the Halal food in Singapore plus your honest review. Hope you enjoy the experience.✌🏽
Thank you too!
❤indian Muslim here🎉
The popular usage "786" - mostly in the signboards of Indian Muslim shops and restaurants. Therefore, instead of writing the word "Bismillah-irrahman-irrahim" on the signboard, they just use the number "786".
has no islamic significance in accordance to hadith and quran, it was a thing from the south asian continent,
According to Hinduism 786 means “Trimurti” that represents Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara.
@@keemarotichai Whatever the meaning for the other cultures does not matter. As far as for the Indian Muslim community this is what they mean, period.
@@kbmkbmz there is the misguidance.
The stubborness to maintain misguided practices which are clearly a bid'ah.
In other words, regarded a major sin.
Subbed cos I love SG ❤ I am always there, I usually don’t eat at small restaurants like this but I think I’ll try next time I’m there agaib
Singapore is still mostly cash based. Credit Cards are mostly accepted by restaurants and in most shopping malls... But small mum and pop shops still prefer cash.... No commission needed to pay to the banks...
I believe they do accept payment paywave n hdphone tapping.Like Malaysia n Indonesia.Even small stall we just tap our phone to pay.So convenient.
@@arbaeyahmohamed5688 Yes.... Singapore has a system called "PayNow" which you can pay by using your phone to scan a QR code.
But for the average Western or non ASEAN tourist... Unless you have a bank account that has agreements with the local banks... That won't be possible. Most hawkers and small business owners refuse to accept Credit Cards is due to the fee imposed by the banks and/or the Credit Card company.
first time watching your content, i love how respectful you are🫶
if you want to eat Halal food for 24 hrs. You only need to go two place Geyland Serai and also Tekka - for cheap and very good Halal food. I am surprised not many people suggested that to you.
Wow, this is my first time hearing of those places. Thank you for the recommendation and I will try to visit soon.
@@BrentTimm yes geylang serai but most shops will sell out around 3-4pm. Most stall at Tekka food centre will open till 7-8pm
@@BrentTimmthose 2 places dont serve 24hrs. geylang is usually a ghost town by 4pm, best to go there in the morning.
best place to eat is the area you at. Especially those arabic restaurant or best malay meets western fusion, is malayan council. Malayan council desserts are not bad too. But if anybody wish to visit a trendy food and halal, well this is the area to be at.
I'm a Singaporean but 20 bucks for a briyani is craaaaazyyyy
Yeah somehow this was my most expensive meal in Singapore LOL
Hi Brent, welcome to singapore.
Welcome to my country, Singapore🇸🇬🇸🇬! AND to my birthplace: the district of Kampong Gelam: Singapore's very first Malay-Muslim urban centre. 🎉❤❤❤🤩😍
Awesome Brent.. may you find delicacy in halal singapore food
