Huge respect to your wife for supporting you in this, but she obviously sees a legend in the making… not sure my wife would let me give my job up and move her and my son to the coast in the UK chasing dreams!
Awesome channel you guys- stay positive 🤌👍
just a tip for in the future, when hooking live bait or any bait, make sure that you take the scales off of the tip of the hook(it might prevent a good hookup) and dont be shy to use a smaller hook
ok brother thank you so much means a lot 😊 I will try it where are you from?
@@lukefalzon south africa, but i just moved to dubai
We want part 4
“Big hook catches big fish; small hook catches all fish.”
When tossing up between sizes, take the smaller one..
Hi Luke Falzon I’m from NewZealand and I never catch fish unless I go out on my poppas boat. But I can’t at the moment because my grandy is in hospital she is very sick.😢❤
put down in the comment section, what I can do to get better ❤
Hi Luke I know where to get Barra I’ve been a keen Barra fisherman for a very long time I’ll text you on Instagram
Nothing 😄
please post more man we dont care if you dont catch fish we are here for you
Use a 1/0 or 2/0 hook because they feel the hook and spit it out
Use a 1/0 hook so they don’t spit it out
Definitely should tie your rope around the trees where that major colour change is and can fan cast shallow diving lures. Best chance for a Barra in these conditions
ok thank you for the heads up mate thank you 😊 have you been out fishing?
Yeah that creek he went up he shoulda stayed at the mouth. Looked prime Barra spot fresh water running into the dirty water 🤙🏼
hey luke mate, look the barra can live in freshwater but the mullet and herring they feed on need salt water, so when all this freshwater is flooding the creeks, the best option is to go out the mouth and taste the water to see if its salty enough for the baitfish to survive. Then find a spot where baitfish could be taking cover because, where theres bait, theres barra. Personally I caught two 80+ cm barra out the mouth of Machans Beach right along the rock wall during this time of the year when the water is all brown and fresh. The key is to follow the bait.
Keep getting out there though and good luck. I watch all your videos and im loving seeing these local adventures.
thank you for the heads up mate I willl keep that in mind mate thank you, where are you from?
@@lukefalzon i live here in cairns, its tough fishing but i still love it
Love the vids mate keep em coming, can't get enough. You will learn the systems as u fish the. Really enjoy watching u starting from scratch, takes me back to the good old days.
I'm so happy you enjoy the videos bro I will keep them coming thank you again 😊
Just moved to cairns myself, these vids are inspiring me for spots and giving it a go, legend
I didn’t realise how lucky I was till I started watching this video. You got me into fishing a couple months ago. Went 3 times and caught some brim, sweet lip and a few other fish but I didn’t even know any of the fish I caught ahaha. I was lucky enough to catch a Barra that was barely legal, so if I can do it man you can to. Keep you’re head up lad, only way you can see the lords blessings and guidance ❤
well done mate congrats bro keep fishing and yes I will keep pushing my brother thank you
for me, if u use mullet or live prawn, just use hook around size 1 or 1/0 or 2/0.. good enough to hook it.. hoping you got barra in the next video! i will pray for ur success mate!
awww thank you brother means a lot
I see you have a new cast net, Luke. You almost tore it up with another large Barra. At least you would have been able to take it home and eat. I don't think you are doing much wrong, you were fishing in the hardest of conditions so don't get too discouraged. Living the dream!
yeah Tim almost caught it, do you think t was size ?
@@lukefalzon Most definitely it was legal size. It seems like it was the cast net rope that spooked it so you were so close.
Ok where do I start, best place I saw you go was right where the water went from chocolate to black, fish that colour change, next when it rains as hard as it has been and blowing the water temp drops putting the barra down and off the bite, wait till it starts to clear up and we have a few hot days to bring the temp back up, you definitely want some live mullet if your going to chase barra with livies
ok mate thank you for the heads up I will keep that in mind thank you again, have you been out for a fish?
There are some good spots in Cairns you can go to. There’s heaps of drains in the cairns township. Like chinamen and saltwater creek. I would fish these drains at night preferably on a full moon when the tide is going out. Use a zerek weed less prawn and slow roll retrieval. If it’s deeper than expected use a split shot sinker. Key is a constant slow speed but keeping the lure midwater. With Barra it’s all about presentation (with lures). And if you’re fishing weedless make sure you set the hook properly. When the Barra “doinks” the line you’ve got all of 1-2 secs to strike and set hooks. Most of the spots in Cairns at night especially later at night you will hear the Barra boofing in these spots. So go for a look and listen out. Out going tide is key. If that fails you can fish the pier at night in the lights and shadows using a weightless soft plastic for a surface strike on some big Barra. Good luck champ 👍🏾
Keep your head up bro we all go though it and when you get your first Barramundi it will be well worth it...
💯 brother can it wait to get back out there brother, have you been fishing?
@@lukefalzon A lit bit been trying to get back up in the dam on the kayak but got the boat out last week to. havent been fishing as much as i want but hahaha
I love your spirited resilience brother, your a inspiration hey dude. I see your out there just giving it a good crack every time no matter what it is! Never claiming to know everything like so many these days! Mate cheers hey! Boss human being just being 💪🙏
Mate should have a fish on the east Trinity Cairns, plenty of Barra in there but also it's land base fishing at the tidal gates
ok ray I want to go land base fishing cheers I will try it
Luke don't Go into the creek just fish at the mouth of the creek just 11meter from the mangrove edge 👍✌️all ways use size4 hooks we use size 4hooks in the Kimberly here bro 🤔✌️👍
I just started watching u tonight and already love your vids
Hey brother sweet vid as usual. Just a heads up towing a lure behind a boat is trolling. Trawling is with a net and is usually towed behind commercial boats 🤙
Just keep plugging along mate. I been chasing mulloway for years n still haven’t landed the big silver ghost but every time I go n not get 1 it just makes me want it more. Just stick with it I’m sure when you get 1 it’ll be that much more satisfying knowing the hard work you’ve put in.
Duude I love this series you have to do more of them can’t wait for you to get one🤙🤙🤙 also here’s a tip, when you want to go finesse, use a 4/0 or 5/0 circle hook with your Livies. Keep it up good luck
Hey Luke, the fresh water sits on top of the salt water and livies dont like fresh water. Try to get your live bait water from a meter or so down or closer to the mouth of the river if possible.
ok Geoff thank you I will try it 👍🏽
Hi Luke I love watching your videos
I'm so glad you do my friend 😊
love the vids so much man, keep it up!
cheers my brother means a lot man thank you
Love ya vids bro. Around cairns I mainly fish off the beach or beach mouths n rockwalls when its flooded. The rivers n creeks flush the bait out n they mainly congregate along the beach's. I've heard lately they've been catching barra off the esplanade area and towards the pier on high tide. It used to be good for prawns around the hospital area and anywhere on the esplanade when it floods n mate you've had more luck landbased with barra you got 2 cast netting n dropped 1 off beach. Be a challenging catch n cook, the esplanade haha go for a swim there's bbqs down there. Only around high tide you got a 2-3hr window before water subsides.
thats good to no bro thank you for the heads up I might try that thank you 😊 when was the last time you catch one?
@@lukefalzon Hey bro it's been a while haven't caught 1 since before close of season haven't been able to get out cause of work etc. Got 1 down bramston beach late October and a nice salmon as well. I love bramston nice area fishing camping easier access to the islands ( if you got boat) n home to the triple tail fish haven't caught 1 of those yet still trying.
Hi Luke. I love the persistence! Keep on persisting and you will be rewarded. I agree about picking the right days. I dont fish for Barra but i watch a few people who do fish for them. Maybe the water is a bit dirty although I have seen a few vids where they catch many barra when the water is dirty from rain. also when the tide is slack is good and full or new moons.
Wish you luck and keeping on trying!
Another great video Man the pressure was on you!
thank you man, that means a lot bro you been out fishing?
This is the best time for fishing when it rains the fish think it's prawn jumping on the top of water 👍
Hey Luke mate from cairns too Barra love the dirty water and always liveys brother🤙🏼
Persistents will pay off my brother, keep at it 💯
cheers for the heads up bro thank you 😊
Bloody awesome videos brother keep it up 🤙🤙
Barra love when it’s just been raining.. heaps of water rushing through meaning heaps of bait
Keep the vids coming. Great stuff.
Man, get out early in the morning, start alongside the mangroves and flick lures into the mangroves the way down the creek / river. Fish the day.
ok bro but only using live bait man but your right bro gotta try it
mate your doing great love the video from kaelan
thank you brother means a lot bro, have you been out fishing?
i love your vids i have watched them all
I'm glad brother thank you
Mate I feel for you I just had a major operation had to sell my boat now I can't get on the water and I just need to fish so if you want to go for a fish anytime let me know I'm only in Edmonton thanks heaps bro and keep up the good work
owww that suck brother I hope your oak man, and thank you so much for the nice words bro, keep pushing bro
당신의 많은 비디오들이 저를 행복하게 만들어 주네요.
케언즈에 잠시 살았었는데 그 시절이 그립네요 😢. 하지만 너무 감사합니다!! 큰 감동 입니다.
Just a tip when cast meting have another go a lot of the time your won’t scare them off but they ball up into a. School and make it easier to catch the live bait
yes a cast netting video love it
did you enjoy the video bro?
I loved it
Also when there's a bit of flooded water around try fishing flood gates or drains where a lot of current is coming out into a main body of water Barras will tend to sit in front of them in floods and pick off any bait that gets washed out
Hey mate when you troll you gotta consider the depth your trolling I try get lures that hang about 1 metre off the bottom. Usually I use 2.5-3 metre divers trolling in creeks around North Queensland
ok mate thank you for the heads up bro, how have you been
Minkya the wind, unlucky bro you’ll get em
yeah bro it was bad, but it wasn't cold at all still 28 which was good
Good effort,I spent 3 years before I start to cache fish
owww really that dedication brother well done
Keep going man I love ya vids
thank you brother will do how are you today?
Another tip mate all those little rivers and channels you past at the start are prime for Barra. The mouth can be good but not always.
Barramundi is one of the fish on my bucket list man i want to catch it so badly.
yes bro I love trying to get one at the moment have you been out fishing?
@@lukefalzon yeah man locally I have for carp and redfin
love the video
cheers brother how are you?
This guy is a legend. BTW I’m Aussie
Loving the vids Luke keep it up 👍👍👍👍
Love ya work mate 👌🏾
thank you brother how are you?
Keep up the effort
thank you 😊
If you go once the rain has stopped, so that you can get the live bait easier and fish the low tide at the gutters, and near snags and mud flats
Love your work bro ❤
Don’t give up bro, you will catch one. Every heard of mudcod? perfect barra bait up this way give it a go.
I won't bro and I have herd of it bro, thank you fir the heads up man have you been out fishing
good entataining video .. now would ya go back an catch bara for the Vic's Please 🎣
I will do brother how are you? have you been fishing?
@@lukefalzon good .. yup catching plenty cheers
Try using a 4-5/o circle hook not a massive hook. Don’t put mullet in the same bucket as sards as the scales that fall of sards chokes mullet. I only use circle hooks in the inlet, on boat ramps in cairns ( up to (30cm jacks naughty I know) are best bait for Barra, try it you will be surprised at pontoons just drop it down bout 6ft n if it has cleats on ramp hook around twice
ok brother makes sense I will try it for sure bro thank you for the heads up my friend have you been out for a fish?
Use a smaller hook bro
Come to Mackay
You might have a chance to catch a barramundi if you fish in Kitchen Dam
There's lots of barramundi
thats hard fishin for sure
lol
mate if you wanna try fresh water barra fishing head up the hill to lake Tinaroo it hold plenty of records for giant barra
yes I might have to give it a go, have you been down there fishing?
@@lukefalzon haven't made it there yet but hoping to, I'm itching for a barra
Hey luke u should do a weekend camp on a island and fishing all the deep hole some recommendations for good fish are zerk fish traps nomad design vibes and flat shad and ur 3-4 inch plastics
Your video's are crazy but cool you will get one keep trying mate
cheers bro I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊 have you been fishing?
thank you for the heads up mate, and yes I wouldn't mind doing a video like that bro, you got me thinking thank you
@@lukefalzon all good love your vids to very inspirational to kids and ppl to get out there
Man you’re earning this fish when it does eventually show up, gotta be like a 120cm
can it wait brother
Hay mate to help catch barramundi use a smaller hook and not so big so the Barra can get the hook as well
Hi Luke great video I’m not to sure if you have done this in a video but you should go in a shark cage
lol that would be crazy I don't no if I could I shit sacred off sharks bro, have you done it?
if you want to catch bigger barramudi i suggest you go to port douglas and fish off a peir also barramundi eat anything i went there in january and we were catching over 3kg barras
what l find is that as the incoming tide pushes inland the dirty water will push back up the river and it is on this line of fresh and salt water where you will find the fish or it is where l target in these times, the fresh water pushes out a lot of feed ect.. that the fish are waiting for in the salt water
its what works for me anyway
Sweet video bra 😎🤟
thank you brother, how you been?
man townsville is waiting for you. no need for bait i got u lures. ahhhhhh
hahahahahahah thank you brother
Mate some of these videos are brutal, I really feel for you. You don't need a few comments you need a crash course, if you can make your way to toqnsville I can take you out and all but guarantee a barra, it's not hard if you know what to aim for and when. The two best extremes are a lead up to a neap tide fish the creeks, a lead up to the large tides (2m plus) fish the flats. Cairns in generally is bloody ordinary, south of Townsville barra, jacks, fingers are much more plentiful, cairns is for the 5m fibreglass jobs shooting to the reef.
You put in a good effort but without extreme luck the day you chose was a non starter. Let me know if you want a session lesson mate, I'll take you out no fuel charge ect you just have to make it to townsville
Mate get some dynamite!! That’ll bring ya Barra up. 😂
hahahah love it 😊
Bruh, I lived in Innisfail my whole life, but living in Bundaberg at the moment There’s so many spots you could fish land based around there. 1, Creeks that run off into the river are a start. 2, ask the locals about mudcods, there good baits for barras.
ok mate thank you for the heads up, yes I wanna try land base fishing mate cant wait to out again, how long have you been living in Queensland for?
My whole life, won't talk myself up but I could go back home and catch a barramundi in 1 day
I've got multiple spots that could potentially catch you a barra.
Him again haha
@@tysonclubb6262 hahhahahah
Go up to lake tinaroo. Its not salt water barra but its still barra!
what is better eating bro, fresh water or salt water?
Hey bro where are you in Cairns I love your vids and would love to meet you
Bloody legend
yes barra love when theres dirty water and when its been raining. they love dirty water because their ambush predators so they can be concealed easier, and they love rain because is creates little drain that bait fish they so they can eat em
Yes
😊
Caught a 54cm jack last Saturday down there and I was only there for five minutes
thats awesome my brother thank you
Barra idk but crabs after rain is the prime time to do it find remote creeks 30 to 40 minutes away and your garunteed
so your saying use crabs for bait like little ones?
@@lukefalzon na so after rain crabs are “flushed” and are very hungry but travel very far away from the boat ramp like 30-40 mins
So just use fresh makeral or chicken frames
Try the gutters that feed the fresh water into the main creek braaa
go to innisfail to place called nins creek put crab pots in and fish of the bridge for a barra or the north Johston bridge
Good wrok Luke next time brother u get a barrmuine
I reckon to bro cant wait bro
So need to get my gear together and organise a trip with u bro
where are you from brother?
We have talked a few times bro I live in Cairns I so wanna come and show u around and show u some good land based spots for barra over of Yarrabah road
Ill take you to a spot that can be good sometimes for live baiting barra if your keen. Northern beaches area. Lets us know
hey brother yeah I like fishing off beaches brother are you from down there?
@@lukefalzon yea im from up here. Pm me if your keen
For cast netting murky water is good because the fish can’t se u.
ok I understand makes sense thank you for the heads up my friend how have you been?
maybe you should try chicken I was at palm cove and these ladies were catching fish after fish as soon as the bait hit the water they had a fish lets see if that works for you
Mate if you go and catch a gudgeon or otherwise known mud cod and put one of them on for bait you will see that mud cod are the real lollipop for Barra
Check your socials Luke, i have drawn a map of where hopefully it helps you on your journey to catch your first barra👌 i dont just give away spots like this but us fans want to see you smack a good barra
hey brother I just seen it thank you my brother that means a lot thank you so much
Barramundi don’t mind dirty water and don’t mind a bit of freshwater they can also live in fresh water
Keeping plugging away new areas always take a bit of time, once it clicks you will be right
will do my friend thank you for the heads up my friend 😊 have you been fishing lately?
@@lukefalzon yeah mate, water is warm down here rocks are firing
Hey bro , come for reef run Thursday night into Friday ?
where you from? I'm going to lucinda sat morning bro pier,
I'm from Edmonton IGA , watching blokes drive out the entry , laughing with ya 🤣🤙🎣👏
@@lukefalzon tonight's the night !!! One more spot if ya keen mate...
U best buy one mate
Barra love dirty water and you will have a better chance to catch them on a low tide or the tide change
the best way is to just stay like 20 meteres from the mouth and live bait
ok brother but it was so windy there that what I wanted too do my friend, where are you from?
@@lukefalzon northen territory
I fort u where uploading more sorry if this sound mean or has it been raining up there

lol I had fun brother, where are you from?
Townsville
hey bro I reckon the hooks you using are way to big all you need is a 3.0 or 4.0 and you should be set
yeah bro cheers i will get some more smaller ones bro, have you been out fishing?
@@lukefalzon yeah bro went out last weekend just hoping its mint this weekend so i can head out again
Barra are all hyped 😂 they are a great sport fighting fish but they taste horrible
live bait.. use float.. barra like to strike bait that around top water give some 80cm or 100cm leader.. hope you can try it.. we in malaysia use like that. or if use sinker, sinker at the bottom and hook bait at top.. so the bait is acctually floating.. www.youtube.com/@fishingwithdjmodz5000
ok brother thank you for the heads brother have you been out fishing?
@@lukefalzon ohh yeah. i lived to fish.. haha.. im a disabled person, sometimes using walker or wheelchiar, but that doesnt stop me doing more than other fisherman.. hehe.. nothing can stop me to go fishing. haha. there once a time where i dont have any transport ( coz at that time disabled person really struggling to have transport), i told my mum to sent me to a barrage, and i live there for 3 week without going home.. i love fishing for barra and Mj because usely if some one without boat, that is the trophy.. but with a boat, a coral trout maybe my best fish to catch tastesssss sooo good.. i once see u got the fish in one video, where you remove the skin.. coz i really loveddd the skin where i can be fried! taste goddly good! hhaha.. keep up your video mate, i support you 110% !!
Aren’t you to close to saltwater? Need to go up river a bit, not sure 🤷🏾♂️
