Great video! Built one of these myself and I enjoy it immensely. I think what you may be hearing in Omni is not so much a bass roll off but rather the lack of the bass-exaggerating "proximity effect" in Cardioid when you're up close. Omni is great for acoustic guitars- you don't need to be using the patterns as strictly designed to take advantage of their sonic characteristics. Cheers
I’m considering this mic (pre-built, not as a kit) and curious why there are so relatively few reviews, esp focusing on capture and sound quality? I read TapeOp of course and appreciate theirs, but otherwise?? I imagine this competes head on with the Warm Audio WA87-R2, and perhaps other non Neumann 87-ish mics. I know this is over a year ago: ;, any further thoughts on sound quality a year out?
I've owned one. It sounds a bit too bright and boomy, at least on my male voice. The high end seems to be a bit too accentuated for my taste and things can end up sounding sibilant quickly. I ended up selling it. It's not a bad mic at all. The Dachmann sounds *better*. It's much more balanced and reminds me of how a new vintage 87i might sound. I'd go as far as saying that it's probably the most faithful clone out there, minus the Beezneez 87i which is also a great mic.
This is just one of those videos you watch and appreciate the good in humans. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Joseph! Yeah, I did put that information into the description, but who has time for reading? :)
I would love to hear a comparison with the icon.
Sounds great to me

I'm still very happy with it. It makes an excellent mono drum overhead, too.
How does this compare to Dachman Audio DA 87SE ,pls?
Looks like they don’t sell kits anymore.
I know. It's weird. And they're not saying why.
Wondering if anyone knows how this compares to the serrano 87?
