Yes to the first question. The second question you may have to play around with the audio. The third question yes it should play on any software you use. I hope this helps.
Open the video file in VLC. Right-click on the video screen and select "Tools" > "Track Synchronization." In the "Track Synchronization" window, click on the "Audio Track Synchronization" tab. Adjust the "Advance of audio over video" slider until the audio syncs up with the video. If the audio is ahead of the video, move the slider to the left. VLC is region free on RPC-1 firmware drives, which are commonly used by old DVD drives. VLC should always work on an RPC1 drive, regardless of the region codes. On newer drives that use RPC-2 firmware, things are different. On some RPC-2 drives, it enforces region coding on the hardware, which doesn’t allow raw access to the drive unless it performs a region check.

Hola again David...The 'Nerd' here again...I 'lost' the plot at the 'select' codec bit, and 'profile'. On playback, the DVD is very distorted, jumping all over the place. Which codec do I click on? I need a lie down now!😅🅱️.
Sorry for the delay. Select the codec under Profile. Choice H.264 + MP3 (MP4). It should be the default. I hope this helps.
David: I STILL can't get this to work! The DVD has now gone into VLC, but that's it! I'm unable to playback both video AND audio. I select 'media', but still can't locate the playback. Jeez, what a mess! Can you advise AGAIN? Many thanks...

Werkt helemaal niet kan er geen enkele dvd mee rippen.
Will this work for DVDs from other regions?
VLC is region free on RPC-1 firmware drives, which are commonly used by old DVD drives. VLC should always work on an RPC1 drive, regardless of the region codes. On newer drives that use RPC-2 firmware, things are different. On some RPC-2 drives, it enforces region coding on the hardware, which doesn’t allow raw access to the drive unless it performs a region check.
After you rip the dvd can you upload it to view in Apple TV?
Yes. send it to iTunes. Where you can access it from Apple TV or another computer via Home Sharing. Sorry for the late reply.
VLC is a good tool to convert and digitized DVDs.
And a tool like Dumbo Fab is more professional for lossless DVD conversion.
Great video. Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Hi I need help, minos doesn’t give me the “convert/save” option. I only have “convert/stream” what does that mean
same thing
great video but for any video play i use AIX Video Player thats a better option
Thanks for the tip
when i try it does the special feature and thats it
my VLC doesn't have A media tab :(
Sorry for the delay. VLC may be in Minimal View Mode. Hover your mouse on Tools. Click on "Preferences" in the submenu of tools. Uncheck 'Start in Minimal View Mode.' Click on the "Save" button at the bottom. I hope this helps.
Thanks!
No problem!
Awesome Bro...
Thanks ✌️
Great I did but how to get the subtitles to show too
Make sure that the video file and subtitle file with the same file name are in the same folder. Open the video in VLC Media Player. Ensure the subtitles are imported by clicking Subtitle and Sub Track at the top. Select the filename if it isn’t already. The video should be showing the subtitles at the bottom of the video.
Like so many others here, mine has no audio. Has anyone figured out a sure-fire way to fix this?
