DC4346 was repaired afterwards and has since been sold overseas as of April 2024. 4346 also wore the yellow over brown Tasman Forestry livery back in the day
fun facts: 7335 is still in service as a Te Huia locomotive. 7335 was also the last of their class to have Tranz Metro/Tranz Rail livery on them (class is DFT) 7335 also worked in Waitakere, Northland, and many places in Auckland pulling log and freight trains.+fun facts 2: the area right now is really different, the place is owned by GVR (Glenbrook Vintage Railway) and only steam and diesel trains run around the area. Freight for many diesels, except 1295 and I forgot the number. Steam trains pull only passenger trains. Fun fact 3: Glenbrook Vintage Railway also was established in 1970, along with shortening the Waihi-Pukowere line. Pretty long, ay?

…and on top of all this damage, some of the wagons landed in our picnic area and flattened two bbq’s.
The van at the end was almost the next victim.

Saw it on New Zealand railscene 20
Same and I even rode 7335 on the day of her accident with Josh on the Te Huia that night while on my north island trip
Great footage, area looks a lot different now
7335 always a champ, love that loco. Still runs mint.
I was only 5 months old lol now 21 heading to 22.
I'd say thats too young to drive a truck back then. No wonder the accident happened!
It was 22 year ago
What caused it
Bad weather.
I’m pretty sure the truck had mechanical issues and stopped on the crossing.
There’s an explanation at the very end
