    Canada has become almost impossible to live in even for those with jobs and an education. Leaving our most at risk without hope. It's all starting to unravel and fall apart but no one wants to do anything about it. This is the story of how a 70 year old woman, who worked hard in Canada, still fell through the cracks and became lost in homelessness. The cost of living has made it impossible for her to escape, and now she relies on the church for aid.

    No one doesn't just cut off connection with their parents without justification. While no one should be homeless. I'm certain her son has his reason for cutting off the relationship with his mom.
    As a Jamaican, A LOT of Jamaican parents are toxic and traumatize their children. Then act innocent like they are the victims. Things aren't always as they appear.

I was her caregiver for 13 years, I took care of her, fed her, bathed her and dressed her until the day she died. She passed away in my home with me holding her hand up until she took her last breath. My mom did everything for me when I was a child. We don't know what this mother was like for her son not to want anything to do with her. It's extremely rare that a child, especially a son, would abandon his mother for no reason. Yes there are some horrible wicked children out there that despite their parents best efforts, they're selfish and only care for themselves. If that were the case in this scenario I doubt the mother would want anything to do with him. Many people who were fortunate enough to have wonderful loving mothers will never understand the pain that children with evil narcissistic mothers went through. They will always uphold mothers as heroes who can do no wrong.

      The Bible in Ephesians 6: 1 -3 ,
      reminds us;
      6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”-which is the first commandment with a promise- 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
      It doesn’t say if you feel like it. There have been many adult children who have been unhappy concerning their upbringing, and/or how they were raised. If they had a nice house, money etc… yet, they love their parents. Many of this generation are ungrateful and disrespectful to their parents. Nevertheless, one day they too will become parents and ‘no one teaches you what kind of son and/or daughter you were like your own children’. Galatians 6:7
      Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow,…

    I'm not specifically speaking to this woman, as I don't know what she's really like. But people need to stop bashing her son without getting the whole picture. I was made aware that an old school friend was homeless. I sat down with her while she cried that she couldn't find a job, and that no-one in her family would help her. I took this woman off the streets, gave her a room rent-free. All I asked for was the very occasional babysitting if my husband or I had to work late (maybe three times a month). Within a week, I could see why nobody in this woman's family wanted anything to do with her. She was demanding, dirty and lazy. The third time I asked her to babysit, she grumbled and said that she was tired of having to watch the kids. Mind you, at the time the youngest was about 8, and the others were teenagers. They were totally able to take care of themselves, I just needed an adult in the house. She literally complained about everything, all while getting free food and never lifting a finger. Things came to a head when she started sneaking her druggie boyfriend in the house at night. After I warned her and she still did it, I kicked both of them out. The police had to get involved when she started making threats to burn my house down while we were all asleep. I learned my lesson, I'll never fall for someone's sob story again.

      Many people would like to place the responsibility on the local church, but all churches are not large...as a matter of fact, most aren't. A church might only have 50 members, with half of them being her age...a 4th being school-aged children and a 4th actively working. Churches do a lot with very little sometimes. Maybe the creator of this channel can reach out and ask for donations as other channels are to help her get into a place. @Jana-vj3vf There's a reason for everything. Sometimes parents think they've done a great job, but in reality weren't as great as they thought. Kids also grow up, look back on their past, and realize where their parents failed. Some reach a point where they realize their parents did the best they could. Some may have trauma and have to cut off parents.

It can vary from province to province, and if you choose to live downtown Toronto that comes at a cost. I live very comfortably on my CPP and OAS. Luckily I own a small house with a garden but there's subsidized seniors housing in all provinces. She says she's "grateful for the $2 she gets to spend" even though it's far more than $2 and she doesn't sound very grateful. Try to prepare for yourself so that you can take care of yourself as much as possible in your old age. I am 63. I spent 17 years as a caregiver to my elderly parents and my grandmother. I am an only child so there was no sibling to come forward and lighten the load, so to speak. I am a former stockbroker with the firm Morgan Stanley. One thing I learned while there is that people need to be prepared for old age from the moment they become 18. Many people don't realize how fast life will go by. Suddenly, they are elderly and they have not planned for the days when they will retire or perhaps not be able to work. Devoting oneself to a job or to children or a spouse is not enough. One also has to make plans around the fact that they may be old and alone one day.

    • @rozchristopherson648
      @rozchristopherson648 3 місяці тому +3

      @Jade-nu9mt Yes, I did at different times in my life and for different reasons. When I was a small child, my mom was always trying to find kids for me to play with. My mom had me at 32, while her friends had their children in their 20s. So all of those kids were older than me. When I was still playing with dolls, those kids were teenagers by then. I had some wonderful school friends after a while and we would get together to play. But sometimes, kids would come over and break up my toys and there were no repercussions, no punishment for them; they could just go home. As I got older into my teens and 20s, I also wished I had siblings because my parents would have had someone else to focus on besides me. I needed breathing space. When my parents became ill, I wished for siblings to at least be there to share things with, even if they couldn’t or wouldn’t help otherwise. After the deaths of my parents, I wished for siblings as other people who would have grown up in the same household with me so that we could all share memories. The only person that close to me now is my best friend since kindergarten. We are the main ones who remember our families and can share memories and insights about them and our experiences growing up.

      @@rozchristopherson648 wow similar wishes! I grew up as the only child here in E. Africa , where every neighbors had 8-4 children. Raised by a widow my mum wouldn't want to have more children. I remember her friends would always tell her to get married and have more babies but she refused, she was all I had until I lost her in 2016 to throat cancer.
      During childhood had to go to other houses to play where there were many children. I have always wished to have siblings especially when my mum was sick. Now I am a mum too of 2 and everyone who knows my story (which is weird here) is always encouraging me to have 4-6 babies which is really hard these days economy has changed.

    All the comments condemning her son, please open up your pocketbooks and your home and support her. I'm sure you'll see a different side once you do. As someone who had to escape from my mother, I tried my hardest to secure her housing. But my mother is controlling, abusive, and prideful. Instead of accepting the help she arrogantly believed I would cave in and open my home back up to her. This time around I found the courage to stand my ground. It takes a lot for a child to sever ties with a parent. So before you cast your stones ask yourself what could have caused her son to sever ties with the woman who birthed and raised him.

    Men depart from home, where the heart of their mother lies, whereas women rarely do so. For some reason, it easier for a man to give up on his blood, be it his own children or mother. Men just move on without looking back. He will choose anything over his mother and to see a video of his mum crying for him will never breaks him. He is ignorant that he will grow old too and life will teach him best.

I hope she get helps and the support she deserves. Honestly, this economy and the way folks have to struggle to survive is huge reason why we have homeless seniors.

    Bless you momma...I feel you. I was married, worked, had two sons, adopted two girls, (family that fell into my lap) and two stepchildren. I poured myself out for my family. The children are grown, my husband and I split up, and I'm on my own.
    If it weren't for Section 8 I would be right there with you. That terrifies me because I started out life as a homeless child. My sadistic, abusive father threw me out into the street when I was 15. It was rough, it was the 70s and there was nothing for a homeless child but foster care. The stories I heard from the kids running from that were horrific. That was not an option.
    I survived all that, but I'm too old to go through it again. I. can't.
