I wrote this riff in 2020. Kirk, having time traveling powers, stole this riff from me and travelled back to 1984 where he used this riff in Creeping Death. This caused an anomaly that made 2020… well, 2020. So Kirk Hammett is the reason behind everything bad going on in the 2020’s. Damn it KIRK!!!
Everyone has already pointed out that Kirk can't steal from himself any more than John Fogerty can steal from CCR, but-- Creeping Death is better. Like, that matters for something, right?
Kirk wrote that riff when he was 15, seeing as he was a founding member of Exdus why wouldn't he use it, but its a killer riff. Plenty of Mustaines riffs are on both Megadeth and Metallica songs.
Actually I think it’s like 5 or 6 Metallica songs where Mustaine co-wrote Metallica songs, compared to like a shit ton that weren’t written by Mustaine.
I mean, even the line itself has been used in the Creeping Death lyrics, changed from an outer to an inner perspective. James (and Lars) must have liked both the riff AND that specific line they put in their new song almost untouched.
I don't remember much about what was doing when I was 16, but I definitely wasn't writing guitar riffs that would become iconic to millions of heavy metal fans around the world.... fml

Kirk joining Metallica was literally the best, we got megadeth and I feel like exodus only got better after the 90s, and we got some of the best thrash ever from Metallica after it happened
