Wow. That’s leaving no stone unturned! Couple of days solid work to get that part repaired properly and it will be 95% covered up anyway. Respect for a proper job done right. Universe rewards with free tailgates it seems 😂❤
Hey B-RY, I’ve uncovered some ropey repairs in my time and it’s never nice so I done my best with this so if any future owner ever sees it they wouldn’t be disappointed. I guess it’s something similar to a Suzuki swift that had been crashed and repaired badly before someone had bought it. Appreciate that mate thank you 🙏

its things like this ya don't see the smallest details having the van perfect even down to the small chips in paint where most would just rub it down whack a bitta high build over them and spray the van gonna have a serious collection of cool vans on the drive at home soon. as always great video

I do the t6 front and back conversion, however I am postponing the tailgate conversion (My van is the barndoor version). The number of little bits and bobs are mindblowing. little bumpers here and there, electronic handle and lock, sliders, hinges, bolts, strengthening plates, wire harness, and also the van needs to be coded for the electronic lock and the switch in the handle. It's going to be a nightmare to go through all of that. I have a list somewhere what you exactly need with the part numbers.

Ain’t gonna lie, I was wondering how you was going to work the two tone on the tailgate but at least with the T6 one you’ve got a swage line to work to, unlike on the T5 tailgate! Hey Dan thank you mate 👍 I was happy it turned up on my door I couldn’t believe it infact, that is a good point regarding 2 tone on the tailgate. The t6 one does have a swage line but the bloody swage line doesn’t line up with the line on the van 😩. The line is the same on the t5 and t6 but it seems Vw didn’t think about lining those lines up. I’ll explain in the next video. Appreciate the comment sir 👍
@@YTDTETV Oh damn that’s a pain in the ass - will have to create your own swage line with some filler haha! 😂 I suppose you could get away using the top of the number plate recess as your line even though it’s not spot on? I’m sure you’ll pull it off regardless though mate!
@@mrdanfaulkner so the line on the van lined up with the top of the rear light then the line on the tailgate is a few inches down so it’s either a case of the silver going down to the top of the light or bring it down to the swage line on the boot, I will ask for peoples opinions in the next video 👍
@@YTDTETV Yeah I’ve just been on the old Google and had a look - bringing it down a couple of inches from the top of the light on the tailgate (to the top of the number plate recess swage) looks the best in my opinion mate. When I typed in “T6 two tone rear” in Google, seems like most are done that way 👌

When carrying out welding and rust repairs. Should filler be applied before or after the etch primer? I heard you mention metal should be bone dry before anything is applied. Guess heat gunning the area first is not a good idea. Been repairing my van over the years mostly outdoors. Cheers A
Hey bud so I put etch primer on bare metal asap before any moisture gets to it then filler after, once you’ve then rubbed your filler down and broke through the primer in some areas then just put a little dust of etch over the bare metal again. Yes you can dry it or heat it up with a heat gun before priming 👍 better to paint anything on a luke warm panel rather than a cold one. Hope that answers your question? Feel free to ask any more 👍

Hey bud oh I definitely removed paint from all edges and used upol weld through primer but video is kept as short as possible and the shot that I mention a few bits was cut out. Can’t please everyone but I can only do my best 👍
