You need to stop being so hard on yourself. I know how it feels being a perfectionist too, it comes with being a trade but that looks awesome and you should be very pleased with the outcome! Awesome work as usual.
Awesome job….with the lift up bed for battery access…can you mount the runners onto slats further in so they lift with the slats and not being fixed to the base??
Dan the detail is next level. Thanks for sharing and going over the design and thought process. I did wonder what is that little baby pillow for (good thinking) Enjoy the break!
Hey Dan, keep up the good work. Re the bed hinge, why don’t you put two slats lengthwise slats like on the top that the widthwise slats slide over. Remove runners on either end. Then the extending bit will left pull up by the new slats. Could even hinge the legs so they drop as you lift it up if you wanted.
Great job on the van interior Dan, even though the bed coverings are not the best it's still better than some campers I've seen as my Dad was camper mad and he had some nice and big ones over the years but some of these so called professional conversions are pretty crappy. You have done a nice modern and functional conversion Dan something that is usable👏🙏👍
Depending on what changing systems you’re putting in the bunk you may need some ventilation in it I have a Sterling b2b in my kitchen unit and had to put in extra ventilation as the cooling fan in summer would run for a very long time after packing up after a driving the van well done so far looking great Dan.
What a great set up, Dan. Great use of the space and as always, built beautifully. We’ll forgive your upholstery😂 The van has been transformed. Thanks for another great episode.👊
With the bed could you not use the famous IKEA laminated bed slats and have timber battens the entire length and pass one under the other locking them together so that you can still lift them together when they are slide together as the seat base. I think if memory serves me, Dantheman 321 does a similar thing on his builds and he works for a company that does custom Van Builds. I used to watch loads of vans being converted as I was going to go down that road myself of self building. I am wondering why you have a switch for your Solar, as We just run ours straight from the battery charge controller to the battery, we do have a fuse that runs between the panel and the Controller that can act as a switch if we hit the test button. We also have one that runs to the vehicle battery as well as our Controller is a dual charge unit. So once the leisure battery is topped off it then tops off the vehicle battery. The Van is coming along very nicely.
Dan this is awesome, I own a MK2 Golf and a T4 Transporter, both projects, this is why your channel started to be of interest, now I watch all your vids, keep them coming fella. Great work! Would love a work shop like that! What would be interesting to know is what its cost you in raw materials to build your camper cupboards and then your bed, therefore giving people a guide of wether they should try to DIY or Purchase a fully made setup?
I think it would be easier just to do one piece foam instead of those 2 long and narrow pieces and the small square. That piece can be fitted as a back rest for the back of the van. Yes it will be taller but I think it will look better. Also it will be easier to do/undo the bed. The only thing missing would be the back rest for the side of the van but in my opinion it would look good without it too.
Nah the way it is done is the best way. It is comfortable to sit on either seat and lean back as they are at the right height to support but also allow you to lean back more. If they were taller you would be more upright. I went through every possible option and this one works the best
The bed and storage are amazing fancy building me one lol amazing build only brought my t5 on Sunday electrics in ply and carpet just trying to figure put the bed etc I did like ur one and wife said that's what she wants if u have any dimensions and advice I'd be highly appreciative thanks 😊
Great video series. Lot of hints and tips. Although I have a question. You made all of those ventilation holes in the cabinets for the mattress to get air. But they are lined with ply. Why do you line them like this? Would foam not be strong enough? Sorry if it's a dull question but seemed a bit odd. Also really enjoying the polo build 👍🏽
Are you not tempted to leave the sliding section as is, instead of hinging it. Only reason I ask is that front piece would have to somehow lift up as well and I could.see it hitting ya nose a few times.
@@DanChambersDAC good job I said for me then 👍🏼Good job it’s my opinion then 👍🏼. Not everything is a personal dig pal. Put it open to discuss ppl will discuss.
Workshop looking like someone threw a grenade into B&Q 😂
If you put some wood underneath the slats, you could then put the hinge on the wood so that both sets of slats lift up when you raise the seat.

Well done Dan such a professional standard that most of us can only marvel at!
Fantastic that is ! Well done Dan

On the bed slides use French cleats that will make them 1 peace. 45 degrees opposite if u know what I mean by that
Great work, love the van, just wondering why you needed the extra bed when there is one already in the pop up roof sorry if it's a stupid question
This is something I’m very curious about too.
aslong as you and abbs can use the bed to get away thats what matter go enjoy a break great build as always pal keep it up
It's looking good Dan it is going to be amazing well done
Did a cracking job dude and hope you had a great time away in the van.

Great jobs 👍💯well cheaper then buying a camper van from a garage. Look forward to the next install

I laughed at that!!
Great work Dan…

Nicely done Dan, in the time you had I think it looks great.
That thumb nail mate 😂😂 class.
Looking good Dan.
Excellent stuff! For a "bodge", the mattress looks mint. 😂🛠👍
Sleeping on the job mate.. awesome work great seeing it almost sorted 👍
Nice one Dan, all done by yourself too. Respect for that and not just asking someone else to do it for you. 🤜🤛. Enjoy your holidays!
Brilliant job. Looking forward to the next episode
You make it look so easy Dan. Looking nice ❤

Great job Dan,good lay out and use of pace.
what a super job, well done.
Great job enjoy your holiday
Love that setup 👍 very inspired on what route I might head down when I get my t6 😁
Totally in awe of your skills, Dan! Wanna come and do my T2?
Good job all you needed to do was have sliding bit on the top side then the whole lot would of hinged up
Well done mate that looks fantastic nice touch 👍👍
This is looking sick Dan wish I had your talent 👌
Nice job mate. Looking great.
Looking great Dan!! Nice work❤
Great job, getting there now 👍
Hi Dan great craftsmanship and very neat. Could you give the name of the good contact adhesive you use for gluing the ABS edge band please. TIA
Can you sleep in the upper one and lower one and report back pros and cons of each and which you liked most?
Awesome workmanship once again Dan. When can i bring mine over for you to do 😂
Impressive.

What have you done to me !!!! I wanna build a camper now 🤔. Looks sick mate !!
Amazing matey 😎🤙🏽
Possible Key safe under the flap...wont it be inaccessible with the tailgate shut and locked?
Nice design, but the corridor is lost. Im gonna improve it😊
Nice van
Hi buddy we need updates on the project please 🙏
Why didn’t you just sleep on the Poptop and have decent seating and a table 🤔

Awesome work as always, with regards to the sliding bed base, could you not use draw runners to achieve your desired original plan?
Beautiful ❤video
Morning Dan, some great work on the van interior, where did you get the roll of veneer from and what glue did you use to stick it down? 😀
Really awesome. Did you cut round holes into the mattress bases to match the frame holes for ventilation?
Looks good, done a good job. What did you use to cover the front of your units?
Van looks good. Polo looking a bit neglected.
Always liked that kind of set up, but means the kids wouldn’t be going as couldn’t travel in the back
The set up works really well. Just got back from 7 days away in it. Luckily I have less than zero interest in having kids 😂 I like my life.
@@DanChambersDAC need to allow for accidents 😂

Isn't there a bed in the pop top?
That closing thumbnail Dan 😂🙈
Legs akimbo. Nice 😮
How do I register a complaint with UA-cam about your use of the word bodge! I’ve seen people paying good money for worse 🤣🤣🤣
Currently 3681 people know where your toilet is... no bog roll holder..

This is a good way to do your slide out bed to be able to lift both up while closed.
If you haven’t solved the bed problem, I have a solution for you
To much going on for me. Van too small to have a crapper just kicking about imo
Good job I am the one using it then 👍

Don’t understand why people convert small vans if it’s not a Lwb it’s a waste of time
What’s 400mm between friends? 🤷♂️
@@ashgtfc a lot when you are cramped in there because it’s raining
Might be a waste of time for you but not others
I have to agree, no real difference between SWB and LWB when driving but a huge difference when living inside of them for a weekend.
Well done dude! Sure looks cozy! 👌🏽
