I like this style of video. Talking to camera explaining your thinking and problem solving. Then interjecting that with clips. Really good idea. Hope you stick with this approach, because I think it really works.
Thanks mate! Really glad you liked the style of the video. I want to include more behind the planning of my projects too so I think this style will allow me to showcase those elements too 🙏
I got sent the detail and random orbit sanders from trend…. Used them throughout the summer 2021, and i think they’re ace!! Have you used their mesh abrasives? That works great too!
The 3/4 sheet sander is my favourite so far haha the mesh abrasive is great but I’ve found that the grit doesn’t seem as coarse as I’d expect, at least compared to the traditional abrasives
Minimalist approach is the best approach mate, all things are platforms or cupboards & costing for this saved you tonnes of loot. I like using 4X2s for making legs & also spraining them black 🤠🍻👍
So true mate! I’m cutting back loads and its making a difference to my productivity. 4x2s make great chunky legs for sure! Looks like steel when sprayed too plus loads cheaper 😅
Great video and desk Joe! I can lots of time and thought went into it, thought we might see magenta legs, but now seeing it, that would have been too much.. well done mate, looking forward to the desk add ons, cheers rob 👍
Thanks Rob! The shelf storage I’m working on at the moment will feature some more magenta, but again, just subtle and hidden. A little splash here and there will hopefully have more impact. 🙏
Excellent work Joe! I truly enjoyed your video. You clearly and simply explain your process and how you solved the problems encountered along the way. Lighting is excellent and I really admire the bevel work. Keep up the great work.
Thanks mate! I really appreciate that. I like to cover to when things go wrong because there is always something that catches us out haha hopefully I can reassure people that it happens to is all and there are always workarounds 😊
Hi Joe! I watched the woodworking competition show last night with my family, didn't know anything about the show beforehand but thought wow this guy looks so similar to that UA-camr I'm subscribed to 😆 I've been subscribed to On A Budget for ages! My family is really enjoying the show, hope you are doing well!
I love that you sprayed the underdesk screws magenta! So lovely (and so much like me) to plant a little spot of beauty just for future-you to see every time you clean it 💝

That's a great build Joe. Well done. It's the opposite of my setup. I think "cluttered" and "messy" would be two good words to describe mine. haha.
Lmao Messy desk = Clear mind 👌 I’ve seen a huge improvement to my productivity since clearing things and going down the minimalist route though
I have the same problem, 🙂. Despite all my efforts to the contrary my desktop remains a disaster area.

Nice job Joe, I really like the bevel it makes the table look very 'light' 🔨👍😊
Cheers mate! I’m glad I added the bevel. Like you say it’s lightened the top a lot while still keeping the robust feel to it 😊

Thank you! Hope you enjoyed the show 🙏 It was a fantastic experience. I loved every second of it. Thanks for sticking with me for so long haha
Great build sir!
I have found it takes a concentrated effort to mess up finishing Rubio.
Thanks John! I love how simple Rubio is to apply. Splosh it on, wipe it off and buff. Job done. So glad there arent any blotchy patches too!

Thanks Nicky! I always find on big projects like this that it’s the small details that shine through. Even if they’re hidden. You know they’re there 😊
Great video and outcome. Really like your channel

Top notch man. That ol' brick wall has come a long way bro.
A snake walks into a bar.
The bartender says, “How the hell did you do that?”
It’s wallpaper 😂

"Knife edge" desk. Looks good. Actually agree with your choice on the screws. Go full custom mate
I like that name! 😍 wished I’d thought of it haha I’m glad I put the effort in with the screws. The little details make the difference
