Magic Eraser (and the Walmart knock-off) was a game changer for me a decade ago when I had 4 little kids and a long central hallway in our home. There was a distinct line of grime on the wall for where all the little hands could reach. Magic Eraser always took it off like... well... magic. I still love and use them even though most of my kids are teens now.
I have different cleaners, because I like and prefer them. I always keep a bottle of bleach on hand, Magic erasers, rubbing alcohol, Clorox toilet sponges, ( I think keeping a toilet brush around is gross) some essential oils, and furniture oil/polish for my wood furniture, Murphy oil soap ( love how it cleans, shines and smells), Weiman glass stove top cleaner, Bar Keepers friend for pots and pans, (an amazing product) and disinfecting wipes for quick go overs in the bathrooms. I love my home smelling clean. Yesterday I swept and washed all of the hard flooring using lavender.....ohhh it made my entire home smell beautiful ! tfs 🍃🥰🍂🌵🍁🏜️💗✝️
I like the old fashion comet cleaner.I remember my mother used it for the bathroom cleaner during the 1960s.Its cleans good the shower toilet and tub and it's cheap.
Amen, to being exposed to various bacteria's. I so agree. I use mostly white vinegar & baking to soda or a microfiber cloth with plain water. Great video.
Wow! I didn't think magic erasers would be worth it, but, now I want to try it lol. I can't handle chemical smells either, I am super sensitive to them. Both amonia & bleach has sent me to the ER with burned lungs even tho I barely inhaled any fumes! Lol I use a vinegar solution for my all purpose cleaner and cheap walmart washcloths. I wish I had a washer & dryer, then I wouldn't use the swiffer dusters & mop pads, but, I am on disability & no car & don't want more fabric to have to wash, the general cleaning cloths I wash is enough. I don't like consuming & wasting duster & mop pads but I do for now. I use vinegar when I wash clothes & I wash dishes by hand. I prefer it that way too, I don't like dishwashers lol. I can only use Dawn because of my sensitivities. I find gloves too difficult to work with. Thanks for sharing what you use! 🙂
I have an easy way to clean greasy cast iron stove grates. I put some dinner in a crock pot (why at the end) Take the grates outside and lay them in a Hefty bag and spray heavily with oven cleaner. Come in and crochet. Eat your Crock pot meal that night because your stove is torn up. The next morning take the grates out of the bag and spray with a hose, bring in and wash off. Spotless with zero scrubbing.
I agree with you regarding the amount of cleaning products that people can end up using. Some of these are so toxic - sticking to the basics is best for us.
If you can put a water softener on your house you will not have a mineral buildup in your sink, tub or commode. Ours cost $1200 and has saved me so much cleaning time. I use Dawn, cleaning vinegar for most things and bleach in the toilet. I use the microfiber clothes for almost everything and I don't use a lot of disinfectants either and we are seldom sick. I do have a great disinfectant called Clean Smart that is nontoxic that I use now and then because I have a dog and a cat. I use a Shark steam mop on the floors. I cannot stand the smell of most cleaners. I put a few drops of essential oil on the steam mop head.
Thanks for this video, Rachel! We have just three spray bottles under the sink: A home-made window cleaner, a natural wood cleaner for the floors and furniture, and a diluted bottle of Simple Green (which is AMAZING) for everything else. We use a stack of discarded cotton weave dish towels that get thrown in the wash after using, and a tough scrub brush. Whatever you settle on for products and tools, though - simplifying your cleaning system, and having the minimal number of products makes it all so much more bearable!
Oh yes - simple green is amazing! I used it to clean a house where I'm pretty sure they cooked bacon every day and the vent didn't work. It cleaned the cabinet doors around the stove really well!
@@jaxx6536 Murphy’s Oil Soap, diluted per the instructions for everyday use into a spray bottle; I have a 1-gallon jug I bought at a Costco almost 30 years ago! I tried the EcoFloor product, it just wasn’t as good at cleaning stickier stuff. Happy Cleaning 😉
Thank you for this helpful information! The magic eraser is the only thing that cleans our old tub as well-- I have been intrigued by Norwex products before! I do not use paper towels except for cleaning the toilet- I keep a small box of disposable gloves and paper towels instead of a toilet brush, I decided I don't like keeping the toilet brush sitting around. Rachel, are you using the envirocloth in tandem with the window cloth for your glass? It kind of looks that way in the video...I think I will purchase the dust mit instead of buying swiffers. Thanks again!! Erin
A question about your microfiber items: do they catch on your fingers? This is why I mostly don't use microfiber. I have used several brands, not Norwex, and had this problem with most of them.
I know what you mean, I hate that feeling! When you get the cloth wet it doesn't catch, and they have to be wet to work. And I generally just use rubber gloves if I'm dealing with anything wet, otherwise my hands get dry and crack.
Thank you, lots of great advice! We have VERY hard water as well. Here's a tip that I do: I take my fabric-type shower curtain (it hangs on the inside of the tub, and I have a lace one on the outside) every once in awhile and soak it, bottom first, in a bucket of white vinegar and water. I use about a 50/50 mix, maybe more vinegar if it's especially bad. Then I throw it in the washing machine. Works better/easier than trying to spray every area of it, and it's cheaper than CLR. Oh, and I have the type of shower hooks that have two open hooks, one for the inner curtain and one for the outer, so that makes it way easier to take the curtains off and put back on, something that would be a hindrance for me to get motivated to clean them in the past, so those were a very helpful buy! Hope this helps! 😀
I don’t use many cleaners and think we don’t need to be exposed to chemicals as well. But my only dislike of the Norwex is the washing takes their special detergent. 🤪
Oh, I've never bothered. I use free & clear type detergent and no fabric softeners, I think that's what they're concerned with, but I could be wrong. :-)
Great video. I also do not prefer using paper towels. Do you have any tips where to store the cleaning towels that already have been used but can be used a couple more times before putting them into the washing maschine?
I do the same, I usually just have a secret corner I throw em into but it would be nice to give em an official home, like a bin with label that reads...? (almost ready for the washer?, not clean but not that dirty?... )
you dont need to scrub pans as hard if you put hot water in them and sprinkle with baking soda & a squirt of dish soap, boil for about 10.. it softens the gunk well. and will be easy to clean without hard scrubbing.
🦋 Should a task as dusting window blinds be done in all rooms while the dusting tool is in my hands, or should I focus on doing all cleaning within a room to completion before moving on to the next room? Another example, when the vacuum is in use, I run it through all the rooms before the next task. Thanks so much.
It really depends on personality and what YOU prefer. I would probably do it all at once... but I'll be honest, I don't dust the blinds very often, but I do dust the surfaces every week. :-)
Another super helpful video! Love your tips as always. 😊 I like the point you made about bacteria and our immune systems. I think you're right! Also, I've used many different harsh cleaning chemicals and they really are downright awful to breathe in, especially being prone to getting migraines. I cleaned my bathtub the other day and was just thinking how toxic they must be for my health. I'm going to follow your tips and ditch the harsh chemicals for a while and see how it goes. Thanks! God bless 💖

Relevant and helpful . Biggest thank you ❤️ . Looking forward to the next one 😃

There are many companies that sell similar products to Norwex without being a MLM(aka pyramid scheme). Thanks for the rest of your ideas ❤️
Totally agree. Cleaning more often works and is easier!
I always keep a bottle of Murphy's oil soap in the house. It's great for cleaning cabinets, doors, and walls.

Norwex is a dangerous predatory company. Please don't recommend their products.

I ❤️ this. I’m getting these products today. ☺️ 😊 💫 🌺 ☮️
For disinfecting I use a mixture of water, vinegar, essential oil and either alcohol or vodka. I got the recipe from clean mama.
Consistency is key! TYSM! 🌹
My cleaning routines have definitely been a game changer! Another great video, Rachel!

I just toss the in the washer, but a lot of our spills happen on the floor and I just don't want to use it again after that.
you dont need to scrub pans as hard if you put hot water in them and sprinkle with baking soda & a squirt of dish soap, boil for about 10.. it softens the gunk well. and will be easy to clean without hard scrubbing.
I really like Norwex. I don't sell it either, but have had great results with all the products you talked about.
Please research what an MLM is.
Norwex laundry detergent works great as well.
MLMs are dangerous
