The amount of work you do is absolutely incredible ! Every time I see your videos pop up I literally jump I'm so happy I love you so much Lisa !!!!!!!!!!
One of the best channels around for art. Between you and Draw Mix Paint I think i've learned more about painting than any book or dvd I've ever purchased. So much info I have to watch it several times. You speak so fast you have a ton of info in each video. Thanks for making your videos.
My biggest hurdle with airbrushing is the time it takes to clean the thing out for colour switches. What you did there was really nice and quite informative, but tell me, how many brushes did you have on the go?? I have one but might buy two or three more cheap ones to speed things up and keep me interested!!
I am just wondering, as you mentioned being able to do this effect with oils and brushes; do you have a video showing a technique for it? I have been having trouble creating soft effects.
Lachri, in all your videos I am intrigued by your studio space. Would you please explain your setup? Specifically how you deal with oil rags as solvents. If you did a video on that subject I think that would be very important, you have a large audience and if you could encourage people to dispose of solvents properly you can help make a positive impact on the environment. Thanks hun! Love your channel
Tasli Shaw This is my studio set up right now ua-cam.com/video/4ehKMQaiHDk/v-deo.html I'm going to be moving into a larger space in a few months so much of this will change. As for oil rags, I don't have any. I use viva paper towels that are dried before I throw them out. For solvents just contact your city and they will let you know how/where they want you to dispose of those :D I will have to make a video about that one of these days :)
You are awesome!!!!!!!! Thats the best tips for airbrushing..for sooo long i been making my paint way to thick, clogged airbrush, and spattering of paint. I do the water thing and make my paint much thinner and all the other things u said and NOW i can finally practice airbrushing!!!! YAY!!!! awesome tip guys!!!! Thanks again!!!!!!!
Try actual reducer. It retains more of the pigment but acts just as water. I always reduce all the paints in the brush. Also, check your air pressure. If you thin the paint enough you can drop the pressure, reduces tip dry.
Hi Lisa, this video is amazing. I have 3 questions if you could help... Could you make a video to explain how to prepare paint for airbrush? What are the tips important to paint with airbrush? And how do you blend colors in your acrylic paints, what technique do you use? Thanks a lot
Hi Lisa. Is there an easier way to switch from one color to the other with airbrush paint? Also, Can you save your pre mixed colors for a future painting? I heard they’re are attachments that connect to the airbrush but do they keep the paint fresh so you don’t have to constantly change the barrel between colors. It takes so long 😐
I have only recently found your channel and love watching your videos. You explain so much in such a short time without going off the beaten track. Fantastic. I'm a Fan. :)
Hello. Thanks for all of your tutorials. Do you know if it is acceptable to enter an acrylic painting where an airbrush was used in art competitions? Thanks
If you're filling the airbrush with acrylic paints (like goldens high flow or holbeins, or even the type of createx I used here) then yes, it's still an acrylic painting. It's just like using a different type of brush. If you fill it with different enamel type paints that could be a problem.
Try the Createx Illustration line or the Com-art line by Iwata Medea. So much better flow with very little tip dry and minimal reduction. Those lines compared to Createx colors line are night and day. :) Thank you for your vids...always a joy to watch!!!
***** I actually have the comart paint. I like it when used alone, but when I mix it with traditional brush work or colored pencil I don't. It's more translucent (not usually what I need), It lifts off the canvas completely if you get it wet at all, and it has a higher gloss which shows up pretty badly with my acrylics and colored pencil. The createx blends more seamlessly with the methods I use :)
Thanks for pointing that out. That does make sense on the Com-art because it is highly re-wettable. Well buggers...I thought I'd save you from the dreaded cloggy tip dry :). I do 100% just airbrush so if I do any mixed medium then your comment saved me time and money :). Maybe that could be another tutorial on the horizen.. :) What mediums work together and what doesn't. Thx for your reply Lisa. facebook.com/caseboltairbrushart?ref=hl
this is probably a dumb question...but how do you know if a color is more opaque or more transparent when purchasing them.... is there a group of colors that is always transparent no matter what brand? thanks for your great videos
Your videos are so inspiring! C: I was just wondering... what air brush do you use? Your paintings are incredible and I learn so much from watching your videos!
Lisa, again this is great. The timing is perfect. because I have a question that may be related. After the background is in, if you were to paint your main object in a very light color, would you block the main shape out in white? If you were to block out the main shape in white, would you use an acrylic white or a gesso product? I know you have mentioned that you have used white paint that is opaque and other whites that are transparent. What is the name of each. Thank you so much for this and other videos that you produce.
Michael Parry It is SO funny that you bring this up. I just finished writing out this weekend's vlog topic...which is talking about the different types of white paint haha. I would personally use liquitex basics titanium white to block in the subject if I wanted white. In this case I actually used a mixture of black and brown to block in the corgi before I started painted him :)
I'm pretty sure you know this but, you can bend the needle back by using your finger and a piece of wood. Place the needle on the wood, press your finger on the needle and roll it. Easy fix. You'll never need to buy a new one again. Just be sure that the bent needle gets straightened out as much as possible before extracting it from the body.
mike Bart LOL I tried, it ended...badly lol. I just use the bent needle to scrape dried paint out of the airbrush now when I did a bad job cleaning it :P
Thank you for this, many of the air brush painting videos use torn paper to make shapes like a kind of stencil, I don’t like that technique, I much prefer what you have done.
i feel like i concord the world when i finish a painting i can only image how u feel i woudnt get half of my paintings done if my art teacher didn't push me to lolz

Thanks! I'm glad you like them! :D
I love it the airbrush makes it look very realistic on the background
Paz Hernandez Thanks :D
Awesome. Going to make use of this ASAP.

For the flowers, why did you do white then violet instead of mixing the paints together?

That really helps! Airbrush isn't that easy for me coz I never ever use it. Your art skill is astonishing!

KeeksSecretGarden Thanks! :D
what airbrush would you reccomend for a begginer?

@lachri fine art what kind of paint did u use? Your artwork is amazing!! love it!😀.
Thank you!.....
Hi Lisa, just wondering where you get your damask stencil for your backgrounds from? I love it!
Shannon Sand Ebay and amazon :D
Lachri Fine Art Awesome thanks Lisa! I love this video it's great! I really like how you do the blurry background. :)
Do you have a compressor or is it attached to an air tank?
Nerflover10097 Yes, I have a small compressor. I show it in this video ua-cam.com/video/-_RcpxvxHjw/v-deo.html
What did you use to draw the white outlines?
this is probably a dumb question...but how do you know if a color is more opaque or more transparent when purchasing them.... is there a group of colors that is always transparent no matter what brand? thanks for your great videos
Lana J Usually there will be some indication on the label of the paint. Otherwise you just figure it out through trial and error.
Cool ending 😜
