- Vernon and Eli Miljevich of Wakefield, Michigan: "We are the log-sawing champions of the world." Howard Hill cuts a log with a chain saw in 31-1/2 seconds; they cut the same log with a two-man saw in 9-1/2 seconds.

Thanks for posting! These two are my great-great-uncles. I never met them but heard stories of their fame when I was a child. Nice to see them in action.

+remige2006 They were from a tiny town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which is still wooded, 45 years later. They had nothing to do with the Sahara.

Thank you so much for posting this. I didn't know it existed. The two men were my great uncles, my grandmother's brothers. Vernon was known by the family and friends as 'Toto' (pronounced TooToo). They also competed in log rolling.

I remember how everybody in town was at home that night watching this (or at a neighbors if they didn't own a TV) ...kind of like with the Beatles on Ed Sullivan a few years later.
