Peter Lawford never ceases to amaze me. You think he's going to run out of time, then he comes up with the perfect clue. Definitely one of the best Password players ever.

He annoys the crap out of me. He knows exactly what he's going to say, but he sucks up all the camera time he can get. Every time Allen says 5 seconds, I wish they'd buzz him.

@@MichaelSimmons. He is dead, ya know? Your wish will never come true. He gave clues within the alotted time given and that's all that matters. Some people like to think before they speak, so as to not sound like a blubbering idiot. That is why he was so good, because he gave it thought and said the best clues he could think of.

You’re both a lot sharper than me. I’ve watched this episode (and others) a number of times in recent months, and yesterday was the first time it occurred to me that Ludden’s question might have been barbed. I knew Lawford was a part of the Rat Pack, but Rush naming off people in this film, almost all of whom I knew Lawford would have known well, was what finally alerted me that the question was actually a very awkward one, with Lawford sitting there. That and the fact that she stumbled slightly when she mentioned another person on the film named Peter. Maybe Ludden was taking revenge for all the times Lawford barely concealed his impatience with Ludden’s gooey stereotyped questions and responses to contestants. ‘Are you a working girl?’ My response would have been - Yes Allen you’ve found me out, I AM a high class prostitute. ‘A doctorate! Well you’re one pretty graduate student!’ Why thank you Allen! That remark makes all my arduous research work and studies at last feel worthwhile🙄
I actually really do like Ludden, and I know he had some very hard knocks in life, plus anyone who received the praise as a husband he did from a woman like Betty White, must have some exceptional qualities. But watching game shows like this one from the ‘60s makes the women’s movement much more understandable.

@@janetgraige8572 I think that could have easily been answered "Wilde" (or Hammerstein or Peterson, etc). However, if the person giving the clues stretched out the word "Academyyyyyyy..." at least where celebrities such as those on the show would be giving the answer, I think that might be a better chance at least for a first clue. Oscar could work down the line, after a couple other clues pointed in that direction, for sure.

Ouch, a cringeworthy Password. Allen mentions Barbara's new film -- which Peter was supposed to be in (he was going to be Alan A. Dale, who was played by Bing Crosby), but he had a falling out with Sinatra before the film, and was no longer considered a "Rat Pack" member by Sinatra.

Sinatra had done a lot of campaigning for JFK which JFK liked & approved of. JFK was advised not to have anything to do w/Sinatra after Sinatra had built a wing for JFK. JFK didn't even call Sinatra to give him the back story of why he wasn't going to stay at his home. JFK instead stayed w/Bing Crosby a staunch Republican a slap in Sinatra's face. Sinatra took it out on Lawford and Lawford was no longer included in the rat pack movies & other perks. Sinatra never supported another Democrat again.
