The level of tonal and rhythmic contrasts, groove and flow that this band possesses is just breath taking. The soundscapes are immense and does not feel forced or are covered in a never ending svirl of reverb, something I see a lot of in other post rock / alternative / progressive bands these days. The level of musicianship, live presence and instrumental dynamic hints to something I can only describe as passion and I truly feel inspired. You all have a good day, cheers!
They're my favourite post-rock band, and as it happens, the first I discovered, thanks to music used in a Dr. Alice Roberts documentary she made about wild swimming. Others are often too soft-rock or twee, where with sleepmakeswaves the definite metal grunt adds to the expressiveness and yearning of the twinkliness. Their original, single version of One Day You Will Teach Me To Let Go Of My Fears is my favourite thing ever, besides Muse's Map of the Problematique.
The emotion I feel after listening to this is so strong, I was going to try and write a comment but you have done a far better job to articulate my feelings. This music truly is magical.
It's been a couple years since I first listen to this song (5 years, actually) and still has the same effect on me. I'm a Love of Cartography fan for life
delicious. i wish i had that sort of energy for doing ANY thing. these kids from Canada by chance? cuz we've bred that sorta enthusiasm out down here in the states, i thought
