The underground rapper guy who insulted RM & Suga to their face went to prison on the exact same day Suga released Daechwita, he physically fought with another rapper over some beef online. Then! He was released on the same day McDonalds was doing the BTS meals and tweeted about how mad he was that he kept seeing BTS around every corner. Lmao

Yes it's true they all left home at a young age. None of them were from Seoul...they all came from different provinces within Korea. JK was just 13 years old when he signed his Bighit contract (in global age). No wonder he talked about missing his mom and dad and why J-Hope cried so hard getting video birthday messages from his family. In "American Hustle Life" (a reality show they did in America) they talked with Warren G about not having seen their families in 2 years. I'm sure that was why they became family to each other and are so close.

I found this episode more fun because it was all about BTS and not the Kpop industry. While BTS had rules to follow and they were enforced , most other companies had much harder rules to follow and were very strict about things like dieting,dating and their behaviour. Bighit and the guys had a great relationship from the start , and they were truly encouraged and supported to bring out their potential. Other groups are trying to copy the formula of success,but there are so many parts and chemistry that have to combine to get that success that it is nearly impossible. BTS are truly once in a lifetime group.
When the companies say that there is a No Dating rule, that means no dating outside the company. Usually when companies have boy and girl groups, there is dating going on between these groups and also staff but it is all hushed up. The no dating rule was introduced by the big 3 because these idols have to be immaculate and they want to promote the artists as the dream princes and princesses of their fans. That the idols only belong to their fans. That also resulted in a very harsh and toxic fan culture that if an idol is caught having a girl or boy friend, these idols get cancelled. They usually are taken off their schedules and then have to reflect for a certain amount of time and usually publicly apologize to their fans afterwards. As for creative freedom, BTS was the first group to have much more say in what their songs should be about than their peer groups and those before them right form their first EP. As was said, idols sung what the company wanted them to sing, danced what the company wanted them to dance. Hence the public has a very low view on idol culture - they think they are just puppets. Because Big Hit was such a small company, they needed to draw on the creativity of BTS, HItman Bang explicitly had looked out for boys who not only did hip hop but also wrote their own lines and were fresh, intelligent and raw. Now with BTS' success so obvious a lot of the newer generation idol groups have much more creative freedom now in what they sing, and a lot of idols now try their hand in producing, too - within reason by their own companies. Big Hit groomed their boys to be artists not idols. They are so confident in their work that they even let them plan, schedule, produce their last album *BE* . Each member had an area he felt comfortable with, being it producer, song writer, director of photography, videography, director of MV etc. They even decided how their album should look like and be packaged and what goodies should be included. They also did the whole scheduling for shooting, locations etc. They have become familiar with the whole process from writing to producing to shooting to promoting - something that was unheard of in the idol industry to that point.
It's RIDICULOUS! They should be able to have normal lives. They should be able to love & be loved by someone special. And not have to hide it. I hate, hate, hate the restrictions. So cruel. If you really love them, you want them to be happy.💜

Some fans really loose it - I still remember the hoopla that went through the VIPs, the fans of Big Bang when Taeyang not only dated but later married. It was crazy, demanding him to be banned from the industry and all that shtick. Yeah well, Big Bang then had their own bigger scandals like drugs, prostitution rings, so Taeyang being married (and now being a dad) wasn't that bad anymore.

'hey your idols are getting harrassed, well tough shit, they are idols what do you expect?'. It was an uphill battle, but at least Bang PD was tenacious and protects BTS (and their dongsaeng groups). In Korean (and also Japanese culture) teenagers don't date like in the Western world, they simply do not have the time or the space to date/kiss/makeout with their boy/girlfriends. They go to school, then attend cram school and then sleep, there is no time and every space is heavily regimented and supervised. Usually Koreans (and Japanese) ppl have their first sexual encounters in their early to mid 20s, and evne then some if not most are very blue-eyed what the whole thing is concerned. Idols channel all this pent up sexual desire so when these idols have a dating scandal all that frustration gets out and it isn't pretty.

Johnny Jimusho actually changed that when Kimura Takuya not only dated but actually gotten female singer Kudo Shizuka pregnant. KimuTaku was THE idol of the late 1990s and 2000s and a shockwave went through fandoms. But the Jimusho (Johhny's Juniors company) backed Kimura up and while he had to apologize publicly for having pre-marital sex LOL, he and his band SMAP not only recovered, they went on to become THE Japanese national treasure. Even to this day, Kimura is one of the most beloved actors, singers and entertainers. But at the time of the scandal ... death threats, threats of suicide by fans ... the whole shebang. But the whole fandom culture changed because the company changed their handling with this 'scandal'. So unless the companies change their policies and handling of such things, fandom will not change unfortunately.

Their dorm had a very small living room / kitchen combo- like a tiny 2 bedroom apartment. Their bedroom was so full of bunk beds that there was no room for clothes or belongings- their clothes and shoes were in the living room as well. In Ohio, it would be like a $400/mo 2 BR efficiency apt (in the part of town that you drive thru quickly, with the windows up) . With 1 tiny bathroom, and no seating space in the kitchen. No counter space- they set a cutting board on the floor to prep food. And a manager had to stay at all times because several of them were minors, but also to enforce the ‘rules’ .
When jhope broke down and heard kind regards from his father, it was joyful tears. Bts doesn't hear from their family often because of their busy schedules. His father in the past expressed his disapproval with jhope joining bts as a trainee and becoming an idol. His dad said he would amount to nothing. The craziest thing to me is the most recent break they took over the 2021 christmas season was the first christmas they got to spend with their families since debut, so since 2013. That's partly why they're so close, it's because for a lot of their formative years, especially JK who was an actual kid, it was spent with the members and everything they've experienced into adulthood really has been with the members by their sides.
the thing with kpop idols is that they usually really don’t write their own lyrics and just sing and dance to other people’s songs and dance too choreographies. that’s why bts are so different from everyone. as for the rap line, they always wrote their own rap verses since their debut. and people had trouble believing that because that wasn’t very common in kpop. it took a lot of time for people to understand and accept the fact that bts really write and sing about their own experiences and their own thoughts. to this day rm has the most credits on all bts songs overall. they are honest in everything they do and that’s why they have so many fans.
I don't know if you noticed but that drawing of Bang PD is what yoongi shows during daechwita's video when he sings "revenues keep going up-up-up, everyday Bang PD goes dance-dance-dance" next to the car ^-^
It brake my heart to see them so young specially for Jungkook only 13-14 years old to be away from his family and friends, working hard on a tight schedule like for 12 even 15 hours a day, no breaks, no days off, no holidays for months on end, no dating not even the possibility to go out at night with friends doing silly teenage stuff. It's like military boot camp but longer. I know that the company pays for all the trainees living expenses and reimburse themselves when the group starts earning money so that a double burden for the trainees to make it. I'm so glad that Bangtan pulled through and accomplished their dream🌟

They did not see their families for almost 2 years straight at their young age , except jin who drove to see his family once every couple of weeks , he use to take jungkook with him cause jk was 13 /14 and did not see his parents in a while . Korean kids do not move out at 18 unless they gonna study abroad etc . For almost six years straight they saw their families for 1 week a year , no xmas , no new years etc cause they had to do shows etc . I dont think jk has a very close relationship with his fsmily because he moved when he was 13 , he obviously had to make himself not miss his mom as much and every child eventually gets use to not being with their families after not seeing them for years etc . Jimin aswell . V however did not get use to the separation and as soon as they got money , he moved his family close to seoul and moved out of the dorm part time i think , 2019 . Anyway , all of them get to be with their families and since 2020 they have more control over their time , their schedule etc , they earned their freedom and and can do what they want now , they can date , have tattoos , do what they want without managers and company rules crazy shit ,
Idol "culture" in japan and korea is very intense. Many Idols have lost their careers over dating "scandals" its very sad because many people believe they "own" their idols and so they CAN'T date. Even japans virtual idols (e.g. vtubers) have been kicked out of companies from even daring to receive a message on stream pop up from a guy. Its really insane.
The struggle BTS is facing is from the S Korean inside netizen, media TV, and fans of other K-Pop that don't want to see/feel threatened by our BTS if they are gone be successful. And look at our *B T S* now - they are a global sensation - Biggest - and became a Legendary of the S Korea!

Jungkook was only 13 when he travelled halfway across Korea to become an idol and Jin was only 18, and the members were in between those ages! Joke of their family lives in Seoul so it was just them and bang pd pretty much.

Bang PD didn’t give restriction to BTS on dating they made that decision on their on, because they didn’t want the distractions. They was too busy. Now with BTS' success so obvious a lot of the newer generation idol groups have much more creative freedom now in what they sing, and a lot of idols now try their hand in producing, too - within reason by their own companies.
Big Hit groomed their boys to be artists not idols. They are so confident in their work that they even let them plan, schedule, produce their last album *BE* . Each member had an area he felt comfortable with, being it producer, song writer, director of photography, videography, director of MV etc. They even decided how their album should look like and be packaged and what goodies should be included. They also did the whole scheduling for shooting, locations etc. They have become familiar with the whole process from writing to producing to shooting to promoting - something that was unheard of in the idol industry to that point.
It's RIDICULOUS! They should be able to have normal lives.
They should be able to love & be loved by someone special. And not have to hide it.
I hate, hate, hate the restrictions. So cruel. If you really love them, you want them to be happy.💜

Some fans really loose it - I still remember the hoopla that went through the VIPs, the fans of Big Bang when Taeyang not only dated but later married. It was crazy, demanding him to be banned from the industry and all that shtick. Yeah well, Big Bang then had their own bigger scandals like drugs, prostitution rings, so Taeyang being married (and now being a dad) wasn't that bad anymore.

Idols on the other hand are replaceable, as hundreds of groups debut every year and most of them do not even stay together their first 100 days.
When HYBE or Big HIt at that time took first legal actions they had problems getting the police involved because ... 'hey your idols are getting harrassed, well tough shit, they are idols what do you expect?'. It was an uphill battle, but at least Bang PD was tenacious and protects BTS (and their dongsaeng groups).
In Korean (and also Japanese culture) teenagers don't date like in the Western world, they simply do not have the time or the space to date/kiss/makeout with their boy/girlfriends. They go to school, then attend cram school and then sleep, there is no time and every space is heavily regimented and supervised. Usually Koreans (and Japanese) ppl have their first sexual encounters in their early to mid 20s, and evne then some if not most are very blue-eyed what the whole thing is concerned. Idols channel all this pent up sexual desire so when these idols have a dating scandal all that frustration gets out and it isn't pretty.

Johnny Jimusho actually changed that when Kimura Takuya not only dated but actually gotten female singer Kudo Shizuka pregnant. KimuTaku was THE idol of the late 1990s and 2000s and a shockwave went through fandoms. But the Jimusho (Johhny's Juniors company) backed Kimura up and while he had to apologize publicly for having pre-marital sex LOL, he and his band SMAP not only recovered, they went on to become THE Japanese national treasure. Even to this day, Kimura is one of the most beloved actors, singers and entertainers. But at the time of the scandal ... death threats, threats of suicide by fans ... the whole shebang. But the whole fandom culture changed because the company changed their handling with this 'scandal'.
So unless the companies change their policies and handling of such things, fandom will not change unfortunately.

Their dorm had a very small living room / kitchen combo- like a tiny 2 bedroom apartment. Their bedroom was so full of bunk beds that there was no room for clothes or belongings- their clothes and shoes were in the living room as well. In Ohio, it would be like a $400/mo 2 BR efficiency apt (in the part of town that you drive thru quickly, with the windows up) . With 1 tiny bathroom, and no seating space in the kitchen. No counter space- they set a cutting board on the floor to prep food. And a manager had to stay at all times because several of them were minors, but also to enforce the ‘rules’ .

When jhope broke down and heard kind regards from his father, it was joyful tears. Bts doesn't hear from their family often because of their busy schedules. His father in the past expressed his disapproval with jhope joining bts as a trainee and becoming an idol. His dad said he would amount to nothing. That video recording was the first time he finally got his father's approval and appreciation.

This chapter really showed since they didnt have all the rules like other companies ( all Bang PD ask was they be there on appts and write their own lyrics. Far as practicing all those hrs and everything they did that on their own) so it helped their personalities show as they filmed themselves being broke. Just wow
people back in the day criticized them so harshly and they didn't stop to think, they are just kids. they were literally teens living away from their family. thats hard enough but now they had to deal with juggling work, school and being far from the ones you rely the most, your mom and dad.

The craziest thing to me is the most recent break they took over the 2021 christmas season was the first christmas they got to spend with their families since debut, so since 2013. That's partly why they're so close, it's because for a lot of their formative years, especially JK who was an actual kid, it was spent with the members and everything they've experienced into adulthood really has been with the members by their sides.

the thing with kpop idols is that they usually really don’t write their own lyrics and just sing and dance to other people’s songs and dance too choreographies. that’s why bts are so different from everyone. as for the rap line, they always wrote their own rap verses since their debut. and people had trouble believing that because that wasn’t very common in kpop. it took a lot of time for people to understand and accept the fact that bts really write and sing about their own experiences and their own thoughts. to this day rm has the most credits on all bts songs overall. they are honest in everything they do and that’s why they have so many fans.
I don't know if you noticed but that drawing of Bang PD is what yoongi shows during daechwita's video when he sings "revenues keep going up-up-up, everyday Bang PD goes dance-dance-dance" next to the car ^-^
It brake my heart to see them so young specially for Jungkook only 13-14 years old to be away from his family and friends, working hard on a tight schedule like for 12 even 15 hours a day, no breaks, no days off, no holidays for months on end, no dating not even the possibility to go out at night with friends doing silly teenage stuff. It's like military boot camp but longer. I know that the company pays for all the trainees living expenses and reimburse themselves when the group starts earning money so that a double burden for the trainees to make it. I'm so glad that Bangtan pulled through and accomplished their dream🌟

They did not see their families for almost 2 years straight at their young age , except jin who drove to see his family once every couple of weeks , he use to take jungkook with him cause jk was 13 /14 and did not see his parents in a while . Korean kids do not move out at 18 unless they gonna study abroad etc . For almost six years straight they saw their families for 1 week a year , no xmas , no new years etc cause they had to do shows etc . I dont think jk has a very close relationship with his fsmily because he moved when he was 13 , he obviously had to make himself not miss his mom as much and every child eventually gets use to not being with their families after not seeing them for years etc . Jimin aswell . V however did not get use to the separation and as soon as they got money , he moved his family close to seoul and moved out of the dorm part time i think , 2019 . Anyway , all of them get to be with their families and since 2020 they have more control over their time , their schedule etc , they earned their freedom and and can do what they want now , they can date , have tattoos , do what they want without managers and company rules crazy shit ,

Idol "culture" in japan and korea is very intense. Many Idols have lost their careers over dating "scandals" its very sad because many people believe they "own" their idols and so they CAN'T date. Even japans virtual idols (e.g. vtubers) have been kicked out of companies from even daring to receive a message on stream pop up from a guy. Its really insane.
