one of the reasons you heard them say "i will work hard" or "thank you for working hard" because it's in their culture.. even in schools, offices, etc you can hear those words. Respect and/or paying gratitude is one of the few traits Asian people have in general.
G DRAGON
KING
Saying "I will work hard" means more like "I'll do my best" or "I take this work seriously" and "You worked hard" means more like "Good job" or "Well done" ( it is a compliment) Respect or paying gratitude may not be said out loud but we, in general, have respect and gratitude toward people around us.
@@himaririku9254 although your comment is unrelated to the topic but if that what's makes you happy then i leave you with that 💜
"We'll work hard" - This is a particularly Asian slash Korean phrase that is used culturally as a greeting, not just for artists. Everyone uses this to introduce themselves to employers and any superiors, as well as say goodbye to them, end the work day for everyone, or for artists, thank the fans and staff. It's such an interesting part of the culture, because even though saying that is almost instinct, it still affects how people work as a community/group. That's what the woman was talking about - how people work hard in South Korea (or in the whole of Asia, to be honest), to the point where you as an individual would feel pressured to work diligently as well because otherwise you're just burdening others.
Totally agree. It's engrained in our mindset because we hear it all the time. It's such a natural part of us that we feel guilt or shame if we think we are not putting our best. It might be said as a greeting or a common phrase but it creates so much pressure internally and as a society....
@@chungster012 Exactly! We face so many struggles because of it for sure, but I really like that part of Asian culture. Working hard as a community, for your community, rather than individualism.
Absolutely. It's no wonder that Asia experiences the highest rate of emigration because not only is the population the highest, it is ingrained into people to work hard, and so companies get very diligent employees at similar or lower CTC than other employees.

those weren’t music critics.. those were underground rappers who have a very close minded and wrong image of what hip hop is and because RM and Suga once were part of the underground scene they got together like that at a small club or something and talked about the issue of “betraying” underground by becoming a “shiny girly” idol. which they then have addressed on their mixtapes and in the song “Idol” years later. also, that dude who spoke the most cr*p during this is a rapper called b-free, who kept throwing his stupid opinion around for a few years. but karma hit him and he ended up in jail for a bit lol.
Should've changed his name to b-jail or b-incarcerated 😅

The clip where the "rapper" asked if getting makeup was like being a girl was particularly offensive to ARMY because RM & Suga (not all 7 of them) were asked to go on a rap radio program with a bunch of other rappers, because they both started as underground rappers...and got ambushed. Watch the whole clip, you will see the other rappers went IN on them. They both handled it well (of course) and MCA is right, you need a thick skin & to be able to calmly & intelligently reply to questions, but these guys were just being jealous haters.
The cyphers are directed to these guys, particularly B-Free (Most hated man by ARMY) who is from Hawaii, as in "Go to Hawaii" in Cypher 2.( My fave cypher btw) He finally apologized 6 YEARS LATER.
Too little too late. They refer to THAT in "Mic Drop."
"No need to see each other ever again, this is my last goodbye
Nothing more left to say, don't even apologize."
That's why that clip is so intrinsic to their story, that radio interview inspired some great songs "Mic Drop, the Cyphers & Ddang."
They were rude & insulting, but they sure lit a fire under Suga & RM's asses!🙏🏼💜
I bet every one of those "Rappers" regrets that day A LOT. Especally "B-Free"
He can be free to live with his Mom. Cause his "career" is over.
#MicDrop
Well said, made me giggle.
@IPurpleU. See.😊💜
I heard B Free wore make up on his last MV shooting 😂
I love how you referred to that person as "rapper" So accurate!
@@bacerragraphics1 😂😂😂 And there were comments under the MV like *"Look who's wearing makeup now."* It was hilarious 💜
It was actually just RM and Suga in that discussion, which is why Cypher pt. 2 is mostly both their verses, letting out their frustrations from this convo. But I do agree that even if it was all 7 of them complete in there, they would still take it respectfully bc that's who BTS is. Just 7 respectful, mature, humble guys
It sucks that they didnt invite Hobi too but he only started rapping when he joined BTS, whereas RM & Suga had already been underground rappers for sevral years.
It sucks that they got trwated like that BUT it did inspire some great songs!
@@dkinla3408 They didn't invite Hobi because it was for underground rappers, which he never was. These were people Suga and RM grew up around and did music around for years. I think it would have been out-of-place to have Hobi there.
@@ipurpleu1668 Yes. I know. I wrote exactly that in my original post. Thank you.😊
Imagine all the pressure Jungkook had as a High school student and Idol.
When I see old video of his performances I always imagine him saying “I have to go to school tomorrow”
That's why we fell in Love with BTS was because they showed us they were human and not a bunch of dancing and singing machines. They showed us actual feelings that these idols go through that other companies don't allow their idols to even voice. BTS was like if we're having these difficulties imagine the other idols going through the same thing and can't even complain about it. BTS broke that mold by expressing their ups and downs, BigHit let them do it for their mental health. Army Love, Peace, Wellness and Continued Blessings to them All.🙋🤗😍💜💞✌️🙏🇺🇸 #BTSArmyCares #BTSxArmyWorldDomination
Last song was “Paldogangsan” or Satoori, which is the battle song, as they were coming from different province of South Korean, they brought their own accents from where they came from. The song was originally written and sung by the rapline only, later the band performed it together. It was a good song!
Being Asian and growing up with strict traditional Asian parents in America was very hard. The pressures of doing well in school and the fear I had when I got a B on a test was immense. Sure, all of it made me a successful adult but having two teenagers now I rarely pressure my kids about their grades. Support and encouragement go a long way! 💜 I always look forward to your videos every morning! Fighting 💜
Seriously, even getting an A was not fully satisfying. I would hear where's the A+?. No extra credit? 🥲
This, so much. This was exactly why I'd get pretty POed when teachers like to give lectures abt how grades aren't everything, acting like it was a "me" issue when it was my home-life (and often school and the same teachers, themselves) that stressed me out abt my grades. _I_ wasn't the one who needed to hear abt how grades didn't define me or how grades weren't everything, so it definitely didn't help when they acted like _I_ was the cause of all this pressure.
I think I read somewhere that RM and Suga were basically ambushed on that radio show. It was supposed to be a discussion about hip hop and they started picking on a 20 & 21 year old. Yes I agree that this definitely helped them develop a thicker skin and also fed their songwriting but I know Big Hit was not happy and Bang PD himself had words with them. BTS still fighting.💜
36:35 "It's like they're performing for you vs you're cheering for me." This basically sums up the BTS/Army synergy. Although this attitude of humility is quite common in k-pop, BTS has taken it to a whole new level. I think in part because what Army had to go through to help fight the injustices BTS was experiencing. It was mentioned that BTS thought they were the bulletproof vest for the youth but Army ended up getting hurt in the process. In so many ways, BTS got a lot of strength from Army and vice versa. This fan/artist relationship is beautiful! Definitely something uncommon for us in the west.
nice, I haven't mentioned this in your past videos but I really appreciate you putting the subs on the middle so us viewers won't have to squint our eyes trying to understand those small words there, Thank you🥰💜
I appreciate that as well. When I first noticed, I was wow, cool! 😊
In very broad general stereotype: In Korea, the term idol singer/celeb refers to bubble gum manufactured pop singers. They recruit based on looks or “visuals”, an official position within all groups. Thus they will train you to sing and dance. They tell you what to wear, how to act, what to sing. Idols don’t get much respect bc of this within the industry. Thus you keep hearing references to “manufactured” artists. Similar to how we don’t respect much bubblegum pop artists here in America.
They got so much backlash for trying to be a hip hop group in an idol system. They create their own music and have meaningful messages and lyrics. So they got hate on all sides. From the industry trying to keep idols in that box. From “real” artists looking down on them purely bc of them being idol singers.
Who's laughing now?!🤣🤣🤣🤣💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I love MCA's opinions on these matters (social issues). He really speaks his age, I mean in a really good way LOL. The way he expresses his opinion reminds me of my late grandpa. :)
True wisdom 💜
I'm amazed at the keen observation he makes that goes over most other reactors' heads. Furthermore, when he notices things that don't seem to make sense to him (usually cultural/historic based), he openly asks why. Whereas some people don't admit that they don't understand something or simply judge the situation per their own experience and views.
@@cata7728 Exactly! I agree, I find it funny when some reactors just describe what is apparent or what we are already seeing on the screen. MCA has a sense of introspection and is able to convey his thoughts eloquently.
I completely agree. I really enjoy listening to both of their opinion because DJ is around my age but from a completely different background and MCA is older, experienced and wiser. It's lovely, this exchange of information
One of the best things to come out of this series in my opinion, is not just a better understanding of what BTS has been through in their journey, but also a better understanding of Korean culture in general. Some things that stand out to me from a cultural perspective is the attitudes towards hard work and respect that differ greatly from our western society. The line that hit me the most in this chapter is "everyone in Korea works hard". When I first discovered BTS and heard things like the fact that they practice 16 hours a day, I thought....how barbaric, but I have since come to understand that the whole society works to that degree. If they weren't practicing 16 hrs a day they would be in school or working for the same type of timeframe. It's just so much pressure (not even taking into account the pressures an idol faces to come across as "perfect") It makes sense that Korea has such a high suicide rate, there is just so much to live up to. Another difference I now understand is how BTS gives all the credit to ARMY, despite all the hours they themselves have put in. When BTS "take a bow", it isn't "yes, thank you, I am great"....it's a sign of respect to the person they are bowing to. Western artists are rarely so respectful to their fans and never show their appreciation as much as BTS do. Many in the west could care less about the fans once they become famous, forgetting it was the fans that got them there. Thanks for reacting. Appreciate that you take the time to also watch the bonus content and deleted scenes.
Totally agree😊
hearing namjoon dwell on whether he's an artist or an idol and then thinking about the 2018 song IDOL and the lyrics when he says "you can call me artist, you can call me idol, no matter what you call me, I don't care, I'm proud of it, I'm free" it's very interesting, it's like he found peace and solved that false dichotomy, setting himself free, I'm very happy for him
“I need to find time to make time”…DJ, I can actually relate to that sentiment so much. It may sound strange to others, but I completely get it.
It's like you said WHY DIDNT ANYONE SPEAK OUT FOR THE YOUTH...thats exactly what BTS did... Being older in South Korea is a big deal so they catch a lotta heat thru the yrs speaking up thru their music. It's one reason I love em. Don't forget Big Hit didnt have money to advertise these boys so they found their own way to get to ppl and UA-camD everything! No one will replicate this group cuz it's way too many reasons that make em who they are. They started completely from the bottom. It goes to show you if the ppl gather together as one the ppl can conquer the BIGGER PPL! That's what makes ARMY GROW stronger
Just a detail but Thank You for putting the subtitles on your reaction screen instead of the video screen, so much easier to read, much appreciated! 💜
What you have to understand about Korea is that they are a highly homogenous society - you need to conform to survive. For kids, standing up to adults may lead to problems in school, be labelled as rebellious (or even mentally ill), be treated as an outcast by their peers, etc. For adults, if you don't conform, it may mean not getting a promotion or even losing your job, people treating you as a public nuisance, etc. For BTS to rally the young ones to say "no", they are actually risking a lot. Also, they value "seniority" a lot - like how you can't talk casually to someone older than you, even if it's just a year.
I like your comment! 💜
@@skier___7843 Thanks so much! Borahae! 💜
I'm a Korean New Zealander and the pressure to perform well extends beyond Korea. I was expected to study well plus develop musical skills and I also was enrolled in sport throughout my school years. The pressure to do better than my friends and classmates was always present. This didn't finish once I graduated university. I was expected to excel and advance in the workplace. It is only recently that I have started working in the profession I love..I'm 52. To be honest, it's not only reserved for Korean culture to work and do well but most Asian cultures as well.
I love Jimin’s “ding dong” hahaha.
And also as you'll come to know BTS started their journey with alot of hate because they did not meet idol standards or Korean beauty standards. What you saw there was Jhope's first time receiving fan letters and if you recall from a previous chapter of this, he was emotional because he had not received any fan messages.
Today, he receives so much love, it's endearing 🥺💜
True and that breaks my heart watching that clip. But now he has millions of fans loving him. They all deserve to be love and appreciate. Oh I love them all so much 💜💜💜
I think I saw a thing where J-hope didn't recieve any fan mail for a while, so Jimin wrote him a bunch of letters & gave them to him.💔
But thats ok because now he is LOVED by millions! And I am one of them!!!💜🕺
Yeah, RM does rarely cry or show those vulnerable emotions. He kind of laughs it off when he is feeling emotional. He may just not be comfortable with those feelings or just not comfortable sharing that side of himself -he does show it in his lyrics and I am so thankful for that.
I love that Bang PD went looking for that disrespectful rapper at his label after this panel and he wasn't
man enough to face him
22:56 Almost every idol before BTS were portrayed as "perfect".
Oooh I mentioned this in one of my comments in a previous reaction video of yours. It is not just Idols. The Korean Culture is so ingrained with the notion of hard work and effort that it becomes part of their everyday life. It is drilled into children that only hardwork will pay off and that's one of the biggest reasons for a) the success of Korea (the determination and grit); and b) the utter despair of the youth because their hardwork is not paying off like they were promised. Because somewhere along the way, the elders forgot to factor in every other element that goes into success, including luck. Baepsae is tackling exactly that, saying that we the youth work hard, but we'll never be able to catch up with you elders because the times and situations were different then.
They still to this day say that they will work hard and try to improve and they are the biggest act in the world. RM recently said he credits ARMY for 50% of their success, the company for 15% and each member contributes 5% to make the 100% and thats why they say anything they win they are only a small part each. Not every company pressures their Idols, BigHit never set goals for the boys they did that themselves because they wanted to succeed they are their own hardest critics. The whole make-up thing makes me laugh sometimes because make-up originated in egypt and was originally a male thing also all western artist hip-hoppers included wear stage make-up. RM very rarely cries he normally has this laugh that comes out when hes emotional I think he uses it to not cry. So children there tend to leave the house at 7am and get home any time from 11pm to 1am in the morning because after school they have cram school and any other activities their parents think they will find useful. Some of them have no time to actually be children, not all partents are like this but its a cultural thing and a large majority do push their children. So the main person who was being critical about them going the Idol route years later issued an apology but I know most ARMY think it was for his own benefit.
I love your reactions and the serene vibe of your channel so much. Some overly exaggerate reactions that sometimes overly done and ending up not paying attention to what they are reacting to. You are just chill but evidently open-minded and paying attention to what you are reacting. I love that. Thank you! 💜 The episodes keeps getting better and better. Great docuseries, shout out to Aneesa and volunteers.
but the thing here is lot of these idol groups don't make their own music. but BTS does that's how they were so different. they were accused of being these industrialised group when in reality they had full creative freedom. they were true artists.
열심히 하겠습니다 - “We’ll work hard” has the nuance of putting your all into it; doing something wholeheartedly.
12:49 "A.R.M.Y." was created on 9 July 2013.
As much as I hate to see that interview I love that such good songs came from it like the chyphers and RM Do you.......Love your reactions 💜💜💜💜💜
I really enjoy rewatching The Rise of Bangtan with you guys, it's amazing work and super impressive that the editing was done by just one person! Aneesa the creator does have a team, but it's mostly handling emails and the translations, she's been working on the project for over 4 years now and she decided to do this massive, time amd energy consuming project she's unable to monetize to show her family and friends why she loves and supports BTS. She's the same age as RM and has been a fan since the beginning and she experienced all the ups and downs of it as ARMY in real time.
The love and dedication of creative and talented ARMYs like her all around the world have helped spread BTS's music and message a lot more than what the company would have been able to without that driving force. It's really astounding what BTS, BigHit/HYBE and ARMY have accomplished and so far there are no limits, they keep rising, growing, evolving and breaking records, who knows how much higher they can go. They've been the top selling artists worldwide 2 years in a row (first time it's happened consecutively) and their live concerts also keep breaking records.
The series keeps getting better, can't wait for your next reactions!
you are in for a wild ride and this is just episode 3. I am glad you are enjoying this documentary series. i enjoy watching it again with you both

same decided to watch just cause i like their reactions lol but as a fan of almost seven years: it's not bad
One thing about BTS is they fought through so much on their journey! I know Army are often overprotective of the guys but these bunch are fighters! They've been forged by fire!
These young boys helped me to understand that to fulfill your dream you need to work hard! There is no other way.
im taking the opportunity to recommend one of my favorite bts songs lol the song at the end of ch. 3 and beginning of the bonus video and deleted scenes is called "Paldogangsan" also known as Satoori rap, its a really fun song where the members playfully fight over who comes from the best province and who has the better dialect lmao, the song might be kind of hard to understand bc its basically a whole korean history class for us non koreans but thankfully theres a "explained by a korean" video thats really helpful
The Rise of Bangtan series is the best docu-series out there. I've seen all of the chapters already, but I'm enjoying rewatching it through your reactions. I'll look forward to your reaction vids every Sunday! Thank you!

Remember when you listened to the Cyphers & wanted to know who these supreme dis tracks were aimed at? You just saw. B-free & the other "underground" rappers who insulted them on this show. The same goes for "Ddang, Baepsae & Mic Drop." And I thank them for inspiring RM, SUGA & J-hope for writing such "Dope" songs! Thank you B-Free, for putting extra fire in their bellies. Look at them now! #thankyouhaters

Jhope was v first kiss lmaoooo I think v was 17 at the time and jhope was 18😭😭😭 they r hilarious I’m glad they never shied away from being silly and trying to portray this “perfect” image idols r supposed to have. Many groups these days r influenced by bts and show more of their personalities cuz of how well it worked with bts. I would say their music and personality goes hand in hand with why they r sooo famous today
so nice to rewatch this series again. Anaessa and team , you did an amazing documentary! thank you!
Paldogangsan .... the song you want to listen to ! It's lit!
It's in East Asian culture to say "work hard" as a greeting and affirmation, even when just passing each other in the hall or passing by a cubicle at work. Usually japan and SK. Also regarding the school system in SK. SK students have made it possible for teachers globally to have an online teaching career for subjects like English, Math, and even Art. They're the biggest market, and this is why.
It depends on the artist. I have heard Beyoncé say that she is working hard on a new album and ask fans to be patient and wait for things to come. Working hard is also a big part of Korean culture. They say that no matter what they do.
“I will work hard.” “Thank you for your hard work.” “You have worked hard.” Is a way of life of Koreans. But, sadly it’s more true and possible for the older generation to achieve their goals with this work ethic. It’s a lot harder and has been a lot harder to maintain this work ethic and mind set for the younger generations coming up in Korean society. It’s so much harder now to reach your goals by “hard work.” But since our elders achieved it or made life work with this mantra they think the younger generation can do it too, but times have changed. It is a great way to show appreciation as well. Instead of thank you or I appreciate you, which is something that I am taking for myself for myself. “I will work hard” “you have worked hard” one recognizes the effort put in for someone other than yourself. It’s a great way to keep you humble and always thinking that we can all work hard.
As a army since 2015 every time they say we’ll work hard” it makes me want to tell them they don’t have to anymore. They’ve worked so hard so far. I would be happy to see them take it easy, I don’t know how much harder they can really go?
I can’t believe I watched an hour long video, u guys are too good thank you for your hard work in uploading reactions everyday💓
I love your discussion about Korean artists saying they will work hard. Definitely this differs maybe culturally, or depending on artists, but as a fan in general, I feel the love
I'm loving rewatch those with u guys, the bonus content it's just an endeless "WHYYYY BTS, WHYYYY"
Is not only "i work hard " but is also an acknowledgement that they work hard meaning they BTS , the filming crew, the BTS staff and ARMY, so they are saying they will continue to work hard and they also are thankful for all people who are working hard alongside with them .

It's great to see that they've been how they are from the beginning 💜.
In Korea age really very very matters
- If someone is Older, even if months older . you still have to respect them .
If you are girls you have to respect older boy by calling him " oppa " and girls by " unni "
If you are boy you have respect them by calling boys as " hyung " and girls by " noona "
- you always have call them with honorific way , like jungkook is younger one so he call everyone hyung .
- you can't back talk to olders .
- you always have says we appreciate your hard work for us / we will work harder .
- older have all the authority and younger must have to follow them
[ As jin was the oldest in bangtan but he is youngest in his family so that's Why he never apply so many rules , it's depends on older how they treat younger / that's the reason bullying is most common thing in korea ]
I'd just like to add, and I hope MCA and DJ get to read this:
Remember that Jin came from a well off family (his father manages a successful multinational company, I believe) and was in university to become an actor before all of this. Suddenly, he gets recruited into a band, where he not only has to work hard every day, but also come home to a dorm where he shares a bedroom with 6 other people, has to share a food budget with them, and generally just live below what he's used to. Even in spite of all of that, Jin took care of the younger ones (especially Jungkook) as well as he could. Buying them food out of his own pocket, cooking for and cleaning up after them, and even borrowing cooking equipment and taking ingredients from his own home (See: Jin's old cooking blogs where he would say sorry to his mom for sneaking out another cooking pot or etc.). Aside from the age factor (which is a huge influence), I also think Jin is respected as well as he is because of all that he's done for them. And yet he's also the member who acts like the younger the most often (comes from being the youngest in his family, as you said LOLLL) and doesn't really mind when the others tease him and joke around with him. He's amazing 💜
@@alexis.george Jin didn’t come from a “well-off” family, he was middle class like most of BTS was. The only member who didn’t come from a middle class home with j-hope, whose family struggled with money when he was growing up. Jin’s father is a normal office worker for a German-Korean company, he doesn’t “manage” a large company. I feel like people exaggerate the members’ backgrounds heavily.
The big difference between Jin and the rest of them is that he was from an area very close/basically a part of Seoul. So his family was right there, while the others were from other cities (where the middle class weren’t as rich as Seoul’s middle class) and were far from their families, who just weren’t close enough to help like Jin’s family was.
@@ipurpleu1668 Jin has talked about this in a Vlive with Jimin back in 2018. His parents definitely own a company, but not much has been revealed (as it should) about what industry it's in or the name of it. It's not exaggerating to say the truth.
@@alexis.george They do not own a company. He said he WORKS for a company and RUNS a part of the company NOW. 10 years ago when BTS started, he was an office worker and has worked his way up the ladder. There is a big difference.
I like that you’re keeping up with this series every week!
I'm just glad they were 7 so they can endured all the hardship together, dang pd told them that they have to find ways to be happy, because he is worried that they end up feeling miserable. So there you can see that they goof around any time at any place. They are really good at balancing everything.
They sang and danced and spoke up about things that mattered to them.
They "held their ground", felt the responsibility from management, their new fans, themselves......
All When They Were Teenagers!!!
Absolutely amazing.
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I loved your guys reactions, and the reason why I watched many reactions, is to listen to different points of view, and as you said with that awful experience, is that they held their ground and that is very hard to do especially when someone is criticizing with all malicious intentions all your hard work, which true sometimes it might not be to others standards but is very hard and overwhelming and disheartening and you question yourself about what you been doing. However they held and persevere, and here we are. The reason they inspired me to be a better more broad minded person and think carefully on my words. They reminded me to breath and persevere. Wow this is long sorry😅but They proved everyone wrong, and their hard work paid off🙏💜
I feel like because there were so many songs you haven't heard yet and liked means that maybe you two should do full album listen-throughs after this series?? 👀
i really enjoying your thoughts on all the new information you're learning, thank you for continuing to be respectful! 💜✨
Really enjoying watching these on Sunday with you. So happy you've decided to react to these. I didn't know about them since the beginning but you can see the love they have for ARMY since the beginning til now. Truly respect them and how they treat their fans is incredible. True Artists 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
The upcoming episodes keep getting better and better. These are well put together.
chapter 3!! i wait for your reactions everyday! and rise of bangtan series is my fav! thank you for making my day 💕💕 have a great one!
I always find it interesting that so many kpop artists have continued their post high school studies after debuting. Like did you know all 7 members of BTS have graduated college and are now pursuing their masters degree? I think maybe it helps when it comes to schooling after high school they can go at their own pace and there isn't pressure to finish by a certain age. I only say this because they talk about how much pressure they are under and it shouldn't be that way, yet they put so much pressure on themselves by not only having this hectic work schedule but adding studies on top of that, I don't know how they do it all.
It's common knowledge they all have
"B. Degrees," but the rest is a mystery.
I know Jin has a B. Degree from Konkuk University..Dept of Film, Acting, Video, etc. He's talked about it several times.
What University for the others? Degree program? courses? Did they physically go to classes, or all online?
A community College?
Am I missing something? University is a
LOT of work and pressure and commitment. (3-4 yrs, longer if you're a part time student.) I just didn't see 6 members talking about, or doing any homework/reading/papers/exams/assignments/ etc. of any kind.. or was that on purpose for some reason? I was constantly reading, reading, reading every spare minute. Articles, essays, chapters, entire books! And writing lots of papers.
Does anybody know when they graduated? And now a Masters...
They already have a crazy schedule, how does this even work?
But, maybe a B. Degree is shorter, less intense in S. Korea, than in Canada, maybe that's where I'm confused..
Also, their whole ethos is about Not doing what other people tell you you should do, maybe including University.
You'd think if anyone would be interested in University, it would have been RM, with his sexy brain, but he told his parents he didn't want to go, he'd rather do music.
(Was this degree just something to fall back on in case the Idol thing didn't work out?)
Anyway, so many questions.
Could someone please let me know.
Thanks.
I’m watching all of these with you so keep ‘‘em coming! Great job and can’t wait for Chapter 4!!
That's the way they motivate us and tell us that we are humans we didn't have to work like machines
BTS 💜 ARMAY
I love re-watching these here!
In the context of performers, when they say "work hard" I take it as them feeling a sense of responsibility to always give their fans more each "comeback". It's like really taking accountability of the influence they have on their fans.
It's not what those in the western world would feel too guilty or responsible about. Not saying it's wrong or right, there is good and bad being one way or the other.
All Koreans, regardless of their job, says “I’ll/we’ll work hard” at their job. It’s not even restricted to working, they say it in a lot of situations.
It’s just a Korean/cultural thing
Omg I can’t wait until you go through all the episode💜
Yes, that's right, and saying that I will work hard is also a sign that I will do my best ^^
Thank you so much for all your work! Gaps or no gaps, I'll be here for all your BTS content. You're my favorite reaction channel by far!
Part of me laughs about about the diss on makeup. Can we talk about KISS, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, etc.? So much of BTS' success, besides their outrageous work ethic and talent, is that they know and express what youth today are going through in their lyrics, and it creates a bond.
The song at the end is called Paldogangsan, also known as the satoori rap. The members are from different regions and speak different dialects and this song touches on that. Watch the explained video by DKDKTV to understand the lyrics
RMs answer to those pple who were disrespecting them always gets me bcs it shows the kind of person he is, even if he was a bit clumsy and silly as he was at such young age he always showed he was very wise in terms of speaking about his art.
He said "If you feel that way then you can feel that way". Even when he was conflicted himself about all of the artist/idols matter he knew that what they were telling them was out of a jujdmental and closed minded view and you cant really change a persons mind unless he educates himself so there was no point in arguing with such people. Eventually they just proved an entire industry wrong.
I always wondered if BTS wasn't just for Bangtan Sonyeondan, but also a play on words for "behind the scenes". The way Big Hit does things, I wouldn't be surprised. They showed they could be idols, but also showed all the bad parts that idols go through.
The infamous interview was only RM and Suga at a rap event and then got grilled in an interview panel with other rappers so it was for,er peers in underground rap being so rude. They were beyond mature I’m impressed their response was very well poised. BangPD was incredibly pissed after this happened (he wasn’t there) he went in person to talk to the manager of the guy who called the, girls. They wrote Cypher 2 after this a direct response to these guys (and on it JHope who wasn’t there has a very short part because RM and Suga are pissed but put it into their art) Cypher 2 is so so so good. I also think they took the girl thing personally a bit I’ve noticed Suga from the 2013 days on is the one who occasionally will wear skirts on stage (in a more punk way) and I’ve always wondered if this is his way of saying “call me a girl I dare you and I just don’t care” they really are the type to do that (just my own speculation and they way they tend to be gender neutral about clothes). In general they’ve always used haters to fuel the art sadly they had no end of it.
Thank you.
once again, i had fun watching the episode with you. i just want to tell you just in case you're wondering if we're really watching the full video....yes, i finished until the end and will watch the future episodes too. so i hope you'd continue with the series.
Those underground rappers who looked down on them nowhere to be found now. They flop real hard. Suits them well. And as far as i know some of those still keeps on talking bad things about BTS. Talk all they want bcos in the end BTS will always have the last laugh. They've become successful and will continue to do so. And ARMYs will be with them forever. We will forever protect them and we will never leave their side. We are in this Bangtan Sonyeondan shit FOR LIFE!
Thank you for this reaction.🙏🏻💜
i think in most Asian countries, "the work hard" policy is pretty much ingrained in our culture. in SK, Japan, China, SG takes work seriously. So maybe that is why at some point, you see the hard work pays off. Not just in SK, the Asian community knows the value of putting extra effort into something they work on
I just want to take the time and let you know that I am grateful for these videos cause I don't have a Dj or MCA to watch and react to their videos. So thank you for leading the way down this fun rabbit hole
Love your reactions!
They debuted on June 13, 2013, and on July 9, 2013, the ARMY was established as their fan group name.
HAHAHAHHAHA MCA'S FACE AT THE END😂😂😂 It's like how Namjoon's face being done with BTS, and DJ's gun "pieu ii" has came back 🤣
This chapter is an interesting one for me. Personally, I never liked rap - in all languages and I live in The States and we got the best original rap artists here, but it's just not my thing. It was really about the content of the lyrics I suppose. Never could relate to it at all and music in general because most of them, if not all, are pretty much about the same concept. When I heard BTS rap and read their content - I was hooked and it "changed" me. The rap-line had very distinct and unique voices and with lyrics that were just more to my taste. I've been listening to their raps and music everyday since I discovered them over a year ago.
Same here. I was never a fan of rap, but watching the first Bang Bang Con with Cypher part 3 at 6:00 in the morning blew my mind. It will always remain my #1 song.
I can relate. (Im actually asian.) Rap is just not for me. Or so I thought. Until I discovered BTS. 😌
Agree. I never listened to rap or hip hop. I was always into heavy metal and country music. When I was introduced to BTS several years ago, my interest has broadend. So I always say , BTS introduced me to rap and hip hop. I really learn alot from them in general. I love their mindset.
I also never liked rap, because of the foul language and the horrible comments made to and about Women. I had arguments with my Daughter when she was a teenager, because she loves it. But, when I listened to the Cyphers and how meaningful the words were, yes I was shocked Regarding the few “bad words” that were in the rap. Do I now listen to rap, no, only when it is BTS, because they don’t just put a few words together to sound good.
@@mamabearlovesbts6087 Very true. That is still my stance on the derogatory nature of rap in general. I don't allow my teenagers listen to that kind of rap and reinforce the why I don't allow it. But BTS did broaden my views on music.
Hi MCA and RJ… as usual I thoroughly enjoyed watching us with you, so to speak. I always hate it when it ends, but, I know I can watch it again with you, so to speak, next Sunday. A lot of the clips of these chapters I have seen numerous times before, but still I learned so much. I realize there are other artist to work just as hard as BTS but, the fact that they came from a small company and won awards, that were not not part of the big three companies in SK…SM, YG and JYP. Love you guys…💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
J-Hope is our sunshine!💜☀
Those interviewers were mad rude and were just highkey disrespecting their decisions on why they became an idol, etc etc. Oh well, we got iconic cyphers out of it LMAO
They are called comebacks because some groups actually disband after like an album or two or even before so if you comeback it’s really really huge. Back then people thought BTS would never have a comeback. Well jokes on them😂💜💜💜💜💜borahae. Love the reactions
I love you reactions!!
a very satisfying fact: the dude who called them girls because they're idols and wear makeup went to jail for assault and his whole "career" flopped after he kept trying to come for bts even after they were globally famous lol it didn't work because he's literally a nobody and apparently wasn't aware he can't attack them anymore without facing the consequences
To understand the things you are wondering about you really have to understand Korean culture and history. I always say that Korean history is so beautiful and very heartbreakingly tragic. I don't know everything, lol. I can honestly say my first Korean Idol was King Sejong The Great ^.^ LOL! I saw Korean drama and was curious because it was based on true Historical facts or w/e and I looked him up and fell in love. Times of slaves and only the nobles/ rich families could learn and they only used Chinese characters to read and write with until King Sejong. Learning was always important.
