Updates: 1) The official price of the Procaliber 9.5 Gen 3 is $2,499.99 USD, so luckily not a huge price increase! 2) The images for the stems are reversed in my video. The Rhythm comp on the gen 2 bikes is actually pictured on the right, while the elite is pictured on the left. Thanks to @Chan1881 for the correction!
Nice comparison video! Good to see that competitive XC hardtails are still alive and kicking. The new frame might make a great fast, light weight trail bike. (steered clear of the downcou.... word)
My biggest complaint with Trek's premium hardtail XC frame it that it has always been heavy compared to the competition. It's good to see they made a change in the right direction.
Thanks! Although I have not ridden the new one, the Gen 2 would most likely be faster on lighter trails and flatter ground, but if the trail has more obstacles/rocks or steeper downhill sections, the Gen 3 should be faster since it has more trail focused features now.
Can you do comparison of aluminum and carbon versions of this? Not sure it’s worth it to spend more on carbon. Weight savings wasn’t as much as I would have thought
why didnt trek only update the color for the fx sport 5?i would have upgraded to this years version but im not paying 2000.00 just for a new paint color.
@@TalalipopMTB Love your comparison videos by the way, and appreciate the time you take into making them for the benefit of cycling enthusiasts. Your video have helped me in researching, buying and upgrading my and my wife’s bikes.
No worries haha! I was let go in December of 2022 since Trek was cutting a lot of employees. I explained the story better in the 2023 Trek Marlin 8 Gen 3 Review video but that's the gist!
@chillstep4life I've heard that procaliber replaced x-caliber version so the X one won't come back. But yes, as the author said procaliber 6 and 8 are on aluminum frame.
Thanks for a great review and comparison. I would get a 9.7 today if available but it is only available overseas. Is this to prevent competition with the similarly priced Supercaliber? I reached out at Trek but they couldn’t/wouldn’t tell me why or when the 9.6 or 9.7 would be available in the US. Do you have any insight into this availability deficiency? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I love the two tone green 9.7. Patiently (not) waiting in Wisconsin 🚵♂️🐄🧀
It’s mainly because different countries and markets prefer different models. In the UK the procaliber is a lot more popular I believe so they get more models over there, but I do think it’s annoying since I too wanted the procaliber 9.8 at one point and couldn’t get one here

Love my Gen 2. It's taken me on loads of adventures, races and rides. Nice to see how it's evolving.
Love my Gen 2 as well! It's an awesome bike

Thank you! And yeah I was thinking of the same forbidden word hahaha
Nice rewiev, that blue/purplish 9.5 looks awesome.
Thanks! And yes that color is amazing
Great bike! I really liked new models! Thanks for the video
You’re welcome!

Yeah I can understand that critique. It may be a smaller step but a good step nonetheless!
Thanks for the video! It would have been nice if you wrapped it up with a comparison between the 9.5 9.6 and 9.7 (gen 3).
I have a supercaliber but this looks really good.
Great video. Thank you for the comparisons. So will the procaliber 9.6 gen 2 be faster than the gen 3?

9.6 and 9.7 are not available in the US and only can get the 9.5 now😢
AWESOME video my friend! Any ideas if there will be a 2025 release of the Farley?
Thank you!! And no news on the Farley yet unfortunately

Yes I'll look into that next!

They just build a 1990 Corratec?!
Still Press fit BB?
Yes still press fit, same as gen 2 bikes
For the stems, I think you have the pictures reversed. What’s described as the Comp looks like the Elite stem.
You are completely right, nice catch! Gonna add that correction to a pinned comment now.

SO they got rid of the bearings and are now relying on carbon fiber material movement for compliance
Yes basically, similar change to the new Trek Madone as well
Not sure I have seen anything in this gen over my current 9.x that wouldn't just make me wanna jump to a super.....
Will Trek release new X-Caliber frame for 2025? I love XC race bikes but I cant afford the prices of carbon fiber.
So far I haven’t heard any news about those, but the procalibers do have aluminum models, but those aren’t necessarily cheap either.

Heck yeah if they ditched the massive trek logo i would actually get one but its such a tacky look
Rattle can it.
Yeah really 😅? Like no other bike manufacturer (or indeed any manufacturer) puts a great big logo on their bike.FFS
❤❤❤❤
I’m calling it; IsoBowllocks
