    THANK YOU. This was the only video that showed how to remove the front cover by squeezing the bottom sides.

    I followed this video hoping to fix a noise inside my AC. It didn’t, but once it was open I was able to keep going and replace the bearings on the fan motor. Thank you for the clear and well edited instructions!!

    Thank you for showing how to cover the electronics area with a plastic bag! No other videos suggest this. Unfortunately, I may have damaged the electronics with some water spray so I hope my experience helps others.

    I'd like to see how a screwdriver was inserted with that front cover that will barely go low enough to take out the filter!!! It would break if I tried that. Goodness what a job. Taking the entire ac apart! I'd never get it put back. & kerosene ! Do it if you like to live dangerously !! I'll just use soap and wet cloth as recommended by Frigidaire. My ac is exactly like the one in the video . I'm sure some people who are talented, will take it apart and clean with appreciation. Incredible video !

    Thanks so much for this video, I would have been afraid to take the chassis apart on my own.
    I fixed fins I bent by brushing the wrong way with a small plastic spudger.. one by one.. on the smallest air conditioner you can get. Took about an hour, but they look better.

    The outside coils are just as important of the inside. When I buy a new unit, I cover the outside vents with cut-out sheets of ground cover and tape them to the frame. Keeps bugs and dirt out all year long.

      That ground cover remark caught me up too. It just dawned on me that he or she (have watched too many of these today) is talking about the weed barrier that comes on a roll the keep weeds from growing thru mulch and such. It always water thru so it would allow air as well. Smart thinking!

    Hard no. Using karosene to clean with? Why not just huff gas? Drenching electrical components (motor, etc)... can cause corrosion, remove lubricants and cause a short AFTER drying. Might have worked once for someone, but a pile of bad ideas.

    Don't use a wire brush it could cause damage or smelly greasy kerosene. Just use peroxide and a hard-bristle toothbrush. Peroxide kills mold, germs, and bacteria, and it cleans the coils very well.

    I guess my only question is why kerosene? I mean I've used it as a degreaser on chainsaws and dirtbike parts but I always thought it would mess with painted surfaces? Just curious is all. It's probably more versatile than I realized

    ... so I got the front cover off but it won't completely come off because the fresh air vent seems to be in the way and stopping me from pulling cover all the way off, I don't want to break it, in your video your cover seems to come off easy without fresh air vent getting in the way, any thoughts?

  • @mikecraft5851
    @mikecraft5851 7 місяців тому

    You have to take the white cover off of the back as well so you can get all the way up inside of there in the corners and everywhere. Once you take the grizzlies, you’ll be able to carefully pull the back radiator out very slowly so you can get in there and then you can put it back in. It does come out.

    No no no, never ever use metal bristle brushes or thick bristle brushes on those condenser fins. They are extremely soft aluminum. . Use a soft tooth brush. Spraying the unit down with cheap awesome degreaser from dollar tree works great. No need to scrub the dirt. It just sprays off then. Then i let the unit sit outside on a hot day all day and let it dry. Fully dry before plugging in. Helps incase there is water in the electronics.

    I liked your video. I wash my air conditioner every year still in the window. I mean rain gets on it so a water hose and soap with bleach should be fine. I do unplug it though. But after seeing your video, maybe I should take it apart and clean it differently. Honestly, I don’t have the confidence to put it back correctly.

    • @MichelleLevasseur
      @MichelleLevasseur 3 роки тому +1

      @@Prad2007 I ended up taking the outer casing off first and took the styrofoam out with the front panel. The vent tab was still attached of course and I tried every which way to remove it - no joy. Then it suddenly just gave way. I wish I knew what I did so that tomorrow when I reassemble it will be easier lol! The other problem I encountered was trying to remove the covering from the fan blades. That is impossible without removing the front fins and the styrofoam underneath that. I wasn't willing to go that deep into the deep dive cleaning I was doing. I made use of an old stencilling brush to remove debris from the fins and let me tell you, that was fun trying to get in behind the blades! Did a pretty good job though - more useful that it ever was as a stencil brush :)

    I clean the filters monthly and I just saw brownish and grayish slime on the metal front that's behind the pull out filter. It looks like globs of snot. We've had both of our units for 3 years and prior we had units that lasted 10 years and I've never had this slime present. We had really bad red tide this year and we live under 2 miles from the bay so I'm curious if that has something to do with the slime.

    After putting kerosene on it, I would probably light it on fire and then throw it into a bathtub that I’m sitting in filled with water while it’s plugged in and running to put the fire out. This is one of the most dangerous videos I’ve ever seen. There are much safer ways to clean an electronic device.
