If you don’t mind me asking, are you going to do a video where you talk about sprite layering? You know: a method that was used in Mega Man (among lots of twilight year NES games), and numerous late in the life Game Boy Color games? It was used to make characters have more colors-even Shantae had that.
I hadn't considered it until now! I will add it to my list of video topics. I'm not sure how advanced it could be in GB Studio but it is definitely a possibility, thank you for the suggestion!
Tossing this question in here just in case someone has done the same: Will comment here if I figure it out in time! I've created a nice crouching script that changes the player from a standing animation state to a squatting state (aiming for something like the crouch in Wario Land 1). However, I can't quite sort out how to change the collisions between the two states. I've downloaded the 'Actor Set Collision Box Plugin,' but I'm having a hard time figuring the best way to use it. Any pointers?
I created my sprites in Clip Studio Paint. When I bring the png in, the background is of course transparent. When I play the room, there is a white box around my png. How do I keep the transparency of the art?
Could you show us how to implement a jump ability? Similar to Link's Awakening. I had an idea to use triggers to force the player to the other side of pitfalls, if they have a certain item. But I'm worried about the trigger limit. I would really appreciate some help. : )
Links awakening seems to use lots of small rooms so I would use that idea and worry too much about the trigger limit, give it a try yourself! I'm not sure how I'd make a jump ability in top-down. It's a great video idea though, thank you!
@@BryanRollinsTV Yeah, on the background it shows you how close you are to reaching that limit. I've reached it before and it wouldn't let me place any more

Sorry, found out right after I asked the question. I didn't have the transparent background color set to 65ff00
how do I make a background, because my pencil draws very small pixels, I use gimp
To make a background I suggest you make the individual tiles on an 8x8 grid, then use the program Tiled to use those pieces to construct backgrounds
@@RobertDoman is it mandatory to use tiled?
@@Engi-sc3ho not at all, I use it because it's free and is extremely helpful
how is called that program to make sprites?
I use GIMP
how is whit the full color?
I'm sorry but you'll need to explain a bit more, I'm not sure what you mean
@@RobertDoman i mean the color full, like game boy color
@@Engi-sc3ho there is a setting to turn it on. If you play a color game on an original Game Boy it will be back to the basic colors
@@RobertDoman ok

there's a trigger limit?
@@BryanRollinsTV 30 per scene?
@@flawmore2625 i know there's a 30 actor limit. i didnt realize there was a trigger limit. can't find it in the documentation.
