They use a lot of 7/8 string guitars. Their bassist is dumb good, but you're hearing the guitars. When the guitar is that low in tuning (drop f#), you hear a lot of the bass punch since its in bass range, but it doesn't have the fullness of a bass.
oh, i didn’t watch the full reaction. the bass solo you’re mentioning is again their 7-8 strings low register is what gives that bass vibes and the technique is called “thumping”. you should watch two videos on Tim’s channel to instantly recognize this technique in the future - How to thump tutorial and POV Reverie, first one is obviously a tutorial and second one is seeing his technique in action. Hope this helps a little bit, glad you like them sooo much!
Hate to “um actually” essentially the entire video, but virtually none of what you were calling bass was the bass If you’re looking for some wild bass action, check out The Omnific. 2 bass players and a drummer. Particularly check out Antecedent which actually features Clay Gober from Polyphia
There are some bands out there pushing music into spaces that few people thought could be done. Mixing genres seamlessly while combining melodies, harmonies, and beats into something that sounds amazing. Sleep Token and Polyphia are 2 of those groups and I'm here for it.
Homie's enthusiasm for Polyphia is unmatched😂

by the way, what you mentioning by bass guitar melody in the beginning is low strings on their 7 or 8 strings guitars they use on these heavier songs

That last part from the 2nd guitarist Scotty was the solo of 2022 for me! 🔥 🎸
The whole rhythm section is named Clay haha. Clay Gober for Bass and Clay Aeschliman for Drums!
Also, Scotts guitar solo on this is soooo good
Chino is from Deftones! He does a great collab with Anthony Green - Right Outside. Highly recommended!
Do a video on Cam Cole! “Mama” & “Desire”
What youre referring to as the bass is actually an 8 string guitar and thumping

If you listen for the bass, you actually hear the bass. The guitar parts you are calling bass are not the bass.
