- It’s unfortunate that Daisy quit making this excellent pneumatic pellet pistol. It’s easy to operate and shoot. No recoil, very quiet, if can be shit indoors with disturbing anyone, even if a person lived in an apartment.

I bought one of these new when I was about 12-13. I loved the single stroke idea, but being a kid I wasn't impressed by the low power and returned it. I remember it being well made. I was use to the Benjamin's and Sheridan's power. I did enjoy the 1377 though. Would sure enjoy one now. I do have a Beeman P17 now though.

Such a fun pistol! I replaced the seals and foam wiper and it made a world of a difference in my copy. Sounds odd, but single stroke pneumatics are very satisfying for me to use. Appreciate your video and impressions of this pistol.
It really is! I also like the single stroke pneumatic. I like the velocity consistency and same amount of minimal effort of each shot. I just got my Danco o-ring kit so maybe some of those o-rings will work in this 717? If not I’ll find the proper reseal kit as it felt like it wasn’t getting 100% full power when I was shooting it outside. Thanks for checking out my video!

Solid piece of air pistol, front heavy, trigger could be better...not suitable for one hand shooting. On the other hand Coocking is nice and low effort, nice sight and resonable power- it is decent and accurate pistol;)

Very nice looking and concept pistol. Maybe check to see if it holding enough pressure by testing over the chrony? It may need a seal or 2 to get it up to factory speeds again? Thanks for sharing as always!
That’s a good idea, a couple times the gun didn’t sound quite right when I shot it but the pump lever always has a firm stroke. I’m looking forward to shooting it a lot more as the days get longer and eventually warmer. I like the moderate amount of effort required per shot and that it’s accurate. I’ll only get better the more I shoot it. Thanks for checking out my video! 😄

Maybe it was discontinued because it was made before the Chinese world factories opened up for cheaper manufacturing making it too expensive to produce compared to sales ?Just a thought. Sweet little pistol .
Could be? It’s a hefty pistol, tons of metal parts. Very solid feeling when cocking, pumping and shooting.
Should chrono at 360-380 fps. I am big fan of these.
I feel pretty silly missing the FPS listing that was shown in the owner’s manual as I was making the video. I didn’t see it until last night when I watched my video on the TV to see how it looked. I was like “Doh!”

Accurate pistol shooting is so challenging! The influence your trigger finger has is pretty astounding. My 1377 & 1322 taught me a lot about pistol shooting but wow, those skills go away pretty quick if you aren’t shooting pistols often. I also like the historical aspect of this airgun as it was available brand new when I was a kid.
Oh cool did want a Daisy SSP pistol to go with your 753? I hadn't used an air pistol in years until I got the Drifter, it's been scratching an itch I didn't know I had I'll put it in a belt holster as a 'backup' to my PCP and plink with it to save air for something serious...squirrels taking over the world or something😆
I discovered I really like the single stroke style. This gun has been on my list of wants for many years but I never seriously looked for one until recently. I should have bought one decades ago. I guess I thought it was some weird target gun only good for shooting paper targets. Now I’m older and wiser, haha.
Last night I checked out how my video looked on our TV and saw the FPS listed right there on screen in the book. I totally missed that while filming, doh! The single stroke is really nice for repeated shooting.
@@airgunsalaska I remember seeing the FPS somewhere in there, stuff like that is why I save the manuals to things now lol. Now I've got to try a SSP at some point there's definitely fun to be had in low power mode. Although if I can't cough up the money for the Fortitude I'm really craving a co2 for next summer, the Pyramyd articles on how it works make it seem super cool again, and the Diana Chaser is cheap and probably great.
@@yoitired I’m curious why’d you’d rather have a Diana Chaser over a Crosman 22xx? I’ve not done any research, just looking at the Pyramid site on the Chaser and it appears to be a rebranded Chinese Snowpeak gun that is going after the same market Crosman has had forever with the 22xx. Seems like there are a lot more things that could be done to a 22xx than the Chaser.
@@airgunsalaska Good question I didn't think Crosman had anything equivalent to the long barrel Chaser, I did a google and there was something called the Rat Catcher which is up my alley. But in my experience the Stormrider platform is incredibly easier to work on and comes with everything you could want to upgrade a Crosman to anyway? I could get the Crosman pistol, long barrel, silencer, metal breech with rail, gravmag and hope I can put it all together where as the Chaser would just come that way. Plus I already have compatible mags and like the sights better. TBH I don't like working on airguns I'd rather just get the complete package whenever possible.
@@yoitired that makes total sense! 👍 Yeah, the Grav-Mag doesn’t work as well as a rotary mag and upgrading to a steel breech is not cheap.

I didn’t care for what Gamo had to offer either. They don’t currently make anything that compares to this Daisy so I don’t know why it went away?
