10:15 with rhr clans already having such a range advantage, the 9N really fors from a great city fighter that doubles as an incredibly solid generalist trooper to a pure city and maybe mountain figher. We know at least one wyvern, possibly a clanbuster, possibly another one was deployed in the mountains during the final battle on Tukkayid, foct was even getting guncam from it before I think it got decapitated.
My friends and I love this one! You will note that rather than the usual MGs and flamers the default Wyvern just goes straight to the SRM6 for Taurian Urban Combat. One showed me a fun build for the Wyvern sl in an old build of Roguetech that pushed its jump to like 4/6/13 or like 4/6/20+ with a pirate engine
The 5UX is what first made me realize this machine existed, but the Wyverns that aren’t experimental SLDF commander units have earned a place in my heart. And never forget the Four Horsemen of Errai.
My local games store had a bunch of Wyverns on the blue card. No one ever wanted to buy them so they got discounted a lot. I ended up getting them one by one just to fill out whatever company I was building at the time. It's not a bad mech, pairs up well with slower medium mechs like the Vindicator or Crab
How to make a good succession war variant. Step 1 move the LRM tubes out of the CT to the torso where the ammo for them is. Step 2 pull the small lasers for a flammer or medium laser depending on customer preference. Optional Step 3. Make the LRM-10 into 2 LRM-5s to save weight to bring the armor back up to 9.5 tons. Also man there's a lot of solid FE 180 using designs out production during the late succession war period. Galahad, Blackjack, Falcon, Javelin, and of course the Wyvern
Hello Professor. My Merc 'company' (really a reinforced Regiment) obtained Wyvern parts and assembled their own variant upon the venerable unit. The Ghost Lions Legion was often called upon to deal with rebellions and fight other forces inside cities. So, they took the Wyvern and rebuilt it for their needs. The resulting Mech was considered to be inferior the Legion built 'Kitten' Mech, which sported a movement of 4-6-4, 10 double heat sinks, a 180 XL Engine, TSM, 3 ER Medium Lasers, and TEN Heavy Machine Guns. So, as you can see, although the Wyvern is a decent Mech design, it can be 'bettered'. The Wyvern was the basis for the 'Kitten's' design.
@@ProfessorHeyTeeEn : I just got sick and tired of Battle Armor swarming my Mechs. So, I did something about it. That star of Elementals you prize so much? Yeah... they're gone. Smears on the landscape. You're Welcome. 🙂 4-6-4 isn't very fast these days, but still more than fast enough to maneuver around inside a city. Believe me, 3 med lasers and 10 heavy MGs can totally ruin just about any Light Mech's day, and even send Mediums and Heavies to their dooms if you get up right behind them. And that was why the KTT-1N was designed. City Fighting. Other than the 180 rated XL Engine and TSM, the rest of the Mech is 'standard'. ER Med Lasers are not all that expensive, either. So, the overall expense per Mech is fairly low and thus the Mech can be fielded in numbers for defense.
I really quite enjoy the SL Variant the most of the official models. As for an IlClan Variant? Plasma Rifle with a Small X Pulse laser in the arm with AES for better shooting. Clan SRM6 and Clan LRM15 for support options. Keeping 10 Double Heat Sinks to keep it relatively cool.
I like watching these, however you constantly disparage mechs you don't personally care for. Have you even bothered to refit them so that they are better?

Ah yes, the Wyvern... No one's first pick for medium mechs.
A but tragic, because I am sure we could do something good with it.
It sure is mine. This funky 45-tonner has a special place in my heart.

I acquired a couple of Wyvern 6N in my MegaMek campaign and I really like them as mentioned very effective in built up terrain and urban environments.
They are the non-meme Urban Warfare 'mech for sure.
6:35 or even a aingle small pulse instead of 2 normal smalls. 1d6 infantry vs 2 is a bit swingy though wait no, 2d6, so a flat upgrade.
You know what fit nicely in 3 IS streak SRM2 slot on thr SL? A clan dumbfire SRM6. Just be prepared to get even toastier.

In a urban or canyon lance, they do just fine and they do hang out really well with Vindies, Panthers and even the odd Hoplite.

I got the idea to build one with a C3 Master using more modern tech, then load up C3 slaves in hatchetmen and other city fighters for extra fun.

10 heavy machine guns... Sometimes infantry needs to be reminded of why Battlemechs exist.

That wouldn't be a bad setup, but of course we never really know "what" they are allowed to put as Clan or not on a 'mech these days.
