For those of you wondering why you can't use the reactor or guns/shield - you need to be level 60. Also you need to join the UC Vanguard and do the first mission "Grunt work".

Ha! I just asked about those Vanguard weapons and scolled down to see your comment. I have the level covered but haven't hardly played any quest lines yet. Having too much fun doing everything but the main and side quests. Kinda like Skyrim. 11 years almost and still I haven't picked a side for my character. I just haven't had any interest because there is always something else to do.😊
Hey Angry Turtle! I just wanted to thank you for posting this video. I've been flying my variant of this ship (mine's called 'Gremlin') since level 12 or so (I had to upgrade as I leveled up). My character just hit level 60 with the relevant ship skills maxed out, and I finally purchased and installed the new upgrades... I'm playing on extreme space difficulty and it's like it doesn't even matter. I decided to use the Deimos parts instead of Nova Galactic. I swapped out the cockpit for the higher cargo variant, dropped a fuel tank for a single, smaller rear mounted tank, and ended up with the following stats: Gremlin Overview: Fuel: 140 Hull: 1204 Cargo: 420 Reactor: B 39 Jump: 30 LY Crew: 2 Shield: 1450 Par 0: 85 Par 1: 98 Par 2: 101 Value: 481200 Mass: 475 (-35 tons!) Gremlin is fast. Gremlin is agile. Gremlin eats ships for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Thanks again!

Same as me, i was fooling around upgrading frontier, mantis and few ships i took over on land from the those bandits mostly use grendel rifle. Guess im the one sucks at building ships
This is exactly how I wanted to give the Razorleaf the treatment it deserves. Over powered and over gunned, ready to deal death to Pirates. I just didn't know where to start with all the cowling options. My only issue is with a 2x1 I'm forced to choose between 4 crew and a bed...and sleeping before a mission increases xp by 10 % . But if nothing else i LOVE the cockpit . Thanks heaps !!
For minimized builds I prefer the Viking cockpit, it has more cargo, crew stations and weapon attachment slots than the Magellan for the same weight. For fuel you added two H10 Atlas He3 Tanks, which give you 420 fuel for 66 mass. More efficient is two M50 Ulysses He3 Tanks as they provide 500 fuel for 50 mass and look much better in my point of view. But these would require a slightly different ship design.
@@huntersorce20 So you are saying you actually dogfight in 1st person in this game? I really don't see how that is even possible unless you have settings on easy-mode. This game is NOT really set up for ship battles in 1st person.
You don't need a specific build for that. All you need is a pair of EM weapons, so you can reliably disable the engines without blowing up the whole ship.
By instead using the less heavy Viking CP-100 Cockpit and the 500 He3 Fuel Tanks, I was able to save quite a bit of Mass. Plus gain more crew as it allows 4 crew stations instead of 2 and only weighs 4 Mass. This allowed me to upgrade to the more powerful Helios 400 Grav Drive, add some "Structural" items to make it look cooler and still come in at 510 Mass with full speed.
Thank You for the design. I copied it mostly and have been having a blast with this ship. It suits me fine and I only used the bay that gives you two crew as I leave all those idiots stewing in their juice at the Lodge. I love running bounty missions as a stealth player and with my outpost making me skill points I have plenty of those so yep, all those goody two shoe companions are left at the lodge. First mission I picked up the key to gain access to the guy we rescued who had the artifact on his windshield and Sarah was giving me hell for picking up junk. I cannot stand to be in the same room with the one called Barrett. what a bunch of idiots. Great fighter ship for those like me who love going it solo and it simply melts everything in its path. Been looking for the right ship for my first playthrough. I keep seeing cargo and story related ships, but all I want and all I use my ship for is combat, so this is perfect!
agreed. Not a second of fluff in the video, except for at the end where AT justified his color scheme >.< -hahaha the build has some wiggle room in design but the synergy is where things should be in spec.
Watched this vid when it dropped for the lolz thinking i got a beast ass auto turret ship(of course) with 5k cargo, 100 mobility etc and thought why tf would i do this. Got bored last night and had credits to burn so gave it a try. Holy shit its way more fun going fast n fighting yourself. Ty!
Unfortunately lot of the parts are level locked. The reactor is lvl. 60, Engines need starship design 4. But stil the ship is great, even at lower levels.
There are a lot of very good parts after Class C, locked at higher levels and has extremely good energy efficiency for their mass... (Slayton engines especially).
Thank you so much for this video. 95% of the ship videos right now on UA-cam are people showing off their gigantic ships. I really appreciate someone like you trying your best to build a ship that is small and deadly. In nature, there are many creatures that have tiny bodies but are extremely deadly, the first thing that comes to my mind is the "Blackwidow Spider." The Blackwidow spiders are barely larger than an adult's fingernail, but one bite from this tiny thing could easily kill a full-grown adult. What level do you need for the "Ship Design" skill in order to build this ship?
Black Widows are not that deadly, they get kind of a bad rap. I like your analogy though, there's lots of dangerous things that come in small packages.
@@CallMeMrX a Brown Recluse however is extremely deadly and very small. The Black Widow can be deadly if medical attention is not sought out within a timely manner. Or if it's not available at all.
@@fdjw88 I'm sure by now you have tried to ghetto make the build with inferior gear, the weapon combination is really a key element. Level 60 is the melt zone but you can smash a lot of ships until you get there.
I absolutely love this ship thanks for making this video angry turtle I made a slight improvement to it aswell because there was 1 slot remaining so I added a conduction grid to reduce EM damage by 50% and increased shield regeneration by 25%
I'm lvl 40 and just started fighting in lvl 75 systems and above and still using a modified Star Eagle so still in the learning process and trying to figure out wether to make my ship a higher class or building a new one. This video was very helpful and I learned 2 very helpful things which wasn't very obvious in regards to dogfighting; 1. Use thruster function ( one of the bumpers on xbox) to position your ship easier at high speed. I often end up in a circle chase with the enemy trying to get them in my crosshair while taking unnecessary damage. 2. Boosting towards them while firing in a hit and run manner sems to mitigate alot of damage to your ship. I will try and impliment these techniques in the future so thank you
Responding to my own comment just to give some update on my progress in learning to dogfight; Thruster function is incredible. Basically gives you the ability to strafe around an enemy while firing at it without it hitting you or atleast dissipating alot of the damage you would have been taking. I took out the Blattodea and it's companions with this strat, albeit on normal difficulty but still... way better than my previous attempt
My class B Ship is nearly identical, but I took maxed Missiles in the third slot with just a couple points, and I also took the class B 1500 shield. I also bumped up the cargo to 2k because it made very little difference, and I have a Bed in mine, because apparently I can't go more than 25 minutes without needing to be 'rebuffed' by my companion. LOL. I also ran 2 and 3 engines, and it was still devastating no matter that combination I used.

I have a question for you as I am thinking of changing my weapons combo and would like your opinion of what is the absolute best combo if credits and levels are not an issue: I currently have the following 1. Atlatl 280C Missile Launcher, 2.MKE-9A Auto Gauss Gun and 3. Obliterator 250 MeV Alpha Turret, Is this a good combo? Obviously for me hull and crew are important. What do you suggest?

Joining the Vanguard is really a good idea for getting good ship parts early. EDIT: I have been using this one video so much I didn't even realize I wasn't subbed. Fixed.
The Vanguard autoprojector obliterators are insane. Only weapon in the game that only takes 2 power, but has incredibly good DPS on both hull and shield that can last a LONG time as weapons with more DPS don't show up until you're much higher level.
25k? hehe just dump it all in the safe in the lodge with the power of a bag of holding aka it's limitless. If you do the Corporate faction quest in Neon you will also get and office with similar shame the UC questline's mansion you get doesn't have one or the Ranger one or Vanguard.
Followed this and tweaked it a little as my character didn't have enough levels for everything, but great little ship and a good guide thanks! Another tip if people don't like the small / no cargo, is to dump all your resources into the 'infinite' tool boxes in the basement of the Lodge, I used the one directly in opposite of a workbench. Then just transfer everything in there, and back into your inventory when crafting, and vice-versa. Then you don't need 5000 or more cargo on the ship. Ok it's a bit more hassle, but I much prefer smaller more powerful ships to the C class monsters.
One of the first actually good combat ship builds that ive seen. Most are ok or just complete trash. Nice job, ill be doing something similar to this 👍
You have 10 ship slots, no need to have a 1 ship fits all. Big barely armed cargo ship, a science ship(crafting), Luxury yacht, lazy let the turrets do the fighting, dedicated fighter... ship types galore that will make you wish you had 100 slots(there's a console command for that lol "SetGS uSpaceshipMaximumOwnedSpaceships 100" without quotes). As for that little fighter, I suggest using the Deimos wings, I think they look better than those rounded ones.
I think regular particle beams are better. With full power, you can get close to the fire rate of auto beams, but you dont have to wait for reloads as they reload between each shot
The reason the autos end up being better for a quick fighter like that is because you can have 1 power to them and have full fire rate and have full engine and shield. Not much will be left after the first volley, and if there is, you're fast enough to get away with plenty of shields left. I use 1 set of regular and 2 sets auto just in case I get stuck in a sustained fight.
Your design made me really examine what's going on with my own ship. I couldn't figure out why you were getting such a dramatically better performance out of your ship. I knew it had to do with mass. You worked this ship to be as small as possibly, but mine's no giant. I was looking for it to be as compact as possible within reason. Somehow, my mass was still Double your's. After looking at those engines you're using, i realized that difference in mass compared to mine was nearly 50 for each! So, back to the drawing board. It's a shame. I chose the ones i did mostly for looks.
I realized it doesn't matter as long as the top speed is at 180 and mobility is at 100 then your maxed... only way to get faster is with the engine perks that increase speed. He must have put like 4 point into that skill, lol. EVry thing on this game is just skill points lol.
@@xdarthpool6463 Yeah, we're all just kinda figuring this out. Seems like the bigger component is your crew. I kicked Sam out because i was fed up with the constant repeat banter and lost about 65 in speed. I guess i just need earplugs for space travel.
Whatever the bonuses from either skills or from crew, Turtle definitely still put together the most efficient and therefore powerful ship. You can certainly match the performance with a bigger ship by compensating with more engine, but you have to divert more power to get it. This little ship is only using 6 power to get that performance, leaving that much more to go to weapons and shields. I finally made my own version of this ship, way different looking (I'm a taiyo fan), but the mass and weapons are identical. It's way stronger than my main ship because of all that extra power available.
They all stop freaking out when you go the way of Piracy after a certain event in the main story I found, still him and Cora babbling on but learnt to block it out and I kicked him too and lost too much space from Cargo so put him back with Vasco, Andrea and Gideon. Learning that Leadership which I needed for Ship Command does very little if anything for Space combat which as you can guess I found to be pretty damned sucky!@@fud1238

I followed u and made a downgraded version of yours bc I wasn't high enough starship engineering but it didn't matter the combat is the same mines just a little slower than yours it's my new favorite ship I named it The Black Pearl and it truly lives up to its name I just shredded the crimson fleet one go thanks a ton 🤙💪💪
Awesome video! I made an as good as possible replica. I got a question. How come some of the parts you add to your ship don't even show up in the list of parts I can chose? For example the last weapons you attach, the exterminator. I went to hometown, I don't have ship design lvl 4, but it doesn't even show up grayed out. You use exclusive parts? Do I need to do missions before being able to add them. Pls let me know

cool weapons configurration, exactly the same as I use, youcan ue the 28T defender shield with a B reactor though, 50 more hp and better regen rate, though it's also heavier.
Yeah...The blueprints were a bit stained, and they installed the wrong Nova 2x1 Control at Titan. Barrett and I managed to get Lift and picked on some Crimson. I opened fire on some friendlies while drinking my space mud. Barrett yelled, 'Oh SHEETS!', as my weapons ripped two ships by mistake. We looked at each other and nodded in agreement, then wiped out the other five friendlies and hauled it to Sol Earth where we found a bounty on our head for 105,800 credits. Barrett looked at me, opened his wallet and said, 'I got this'. We sat at the bar shaking without a single word...The only thing I could think was, there is now a God Mode. I Follow your guide (almost) and what a pleasant surprise...you done good! Thank you Commander. (Excellent guide-best I've seen)
Love this little guy. Added it to my fleet before this run of ng+ Unfortunately I forgot how I did it, but I managed to swap the 1×2 for a companionway to shrink it even more in my previous run since I don't have full crew as a skill yet. Think it was with the Eklund-Stroud pit instead which is the same stats.

Jesus then I have the best Reactor and Engines my level at 54 but way behind you there but then I do have 5k cargo on my Kepler R and 9k on my hauler which has a mobiiity of 10 atm as I need to upgrade everything was spending all the creds on the Kepler which now looks nothing much like it was when I reiceved it! I’m curious why, for the Exterminator and the PB-175 you chose the auto turret versions and not the regular versions when the regular versions are higher damage with the same power and mass as the auto turret versions? 🤔 Do you have Rank 4 auto turret in the Tech tree? I love this build. I typically use a cargo hauler that has about 59k cargo but zero mobility. So I enjoy the nimbleness of this ship whenever switch it up and go ship stealing
Great job on the build, its extremely fun to play the fast paced dog fights, I am having a bit of an issue tho. I'm only hitting around 850 top sped with boost, is the extra speed from a certain companion?
Nice, but I think a more balanced ship with some cargo space isn't gong to matter much when you have shields at over 1400. I'm doing fine with the Star Eagle's stock shields and engines. All I did to it was add two fuel tanks at the rear tucked in on each landing gear, different reactor, and better Grav Drive to give me a 29 light year jump distance. This is increased by adding skill points. Over 800 plus shields in the stock Star Eagle is plenty. I am at level 2 in shields which adds 20 percent. I have 2500 cargo space right now, 5 crew spots and three levels. None of the Starborn ships have taken me down yet, nor any of the Crimson Fleet....or anyone!!
Which difficulty level though? I am on normal this play through and have a really tanky thing with 1950 Shields 3500 mass and 2k Hull 850+ Missiles and even with all that I found the Crimson PIrate space battle somewhat challenging vs the Vigilance had to boost far too many times for my liking considering the whopping huge shield and hull there still made it through but took far more damage than I was happy with for a normal difficulty run.
Unfortunately I have to wait till im lvl 60 to buy the 104ds reactor but running 102ds with almost everything (had to step down the 95MeV Eradicator to a 75MeV but still it melts ships.) I can get almost 3 ships in a single 4000m joust and with a max boost speed of 860 till you can get the 3015 engines. Very mean she really is a beast of a machine! Thank you Angry Turtle!
Very insightful build! Can this idea being scaled up to a max sized C class ship? something that can tank a 3v1 situation? I'm guessing the weapon mechanics and its limitation requires a different approach for a C class ship.
Just use the obliterators as a main weapon, then add auto turrets facing each side & behind, get the best shield & reactor you can fit. Then power down your engine to minimal like 1 or 2 points, shields to maximum, obliterators to maximum and whatever is left for the auto-turrets. Worry about one ship at a time, hit the boost if enemy locks on missiles, and leave the turrets to shoot other enemies.
What a beast! Love your videos, they're set out really well & easy to follow, look forward to more. How much did the Red Viper cost to build? I think I counted about 300k credits as you started off 37k up from whatever you scrapped, but I might be way off 😅
seems pretty fun if you want to roleplay but there is not much practical usage with even slower max size ships can dish out the same or more damage with the same cheese range
Hello great video on ship design , BUT, I keep getting the error code that ( one item is over rated more than the reactor.) what would cause this. Question, can you put class b or c with class a . Does every part must class b or all class a.
How did you push your cruise speed to 280, when the max is 180? I know engine skill gives speed bonus but even at max skill it won't give you a 64% increase. Do you also have Sam Coe in your crew too?

Even though my Piloting and Ship Design skills are maxed out, I must need to get further along in the game, or add some more skills. Because all I see anywhere I go is the 102DS Mag from Dogstar. I don't see the 104DS Mag Reactor Do I need to put points into Starship Engineering skill?
A word of warning after the latest patch (Sept 25 2023). The Vanguard Obliterator weapon is borked. If you add it to a ship the ship disappears underground. I tried to add it at Hopetech and had the same issue.
@@breez2602 Could have been my save in that case. It is on NG+ 8 and I had to console command a quest to get it to trigger. Could very well only be on my end, sorry.
wish it was a little more aesthetically pleasing, the one landing gear doesnt look like it could support the weight of the whole ship but i get this build is more function over form and its really fun to fly around so fast
Big tip for everyone building ships. Pay attention to your Reactor and Equip power. If your Equip power is higher than your Reactor power you will not be taking full advantage of your ship's capabilities e.g. weapons will not be full strength, engines will not hit max speed, shields will not be full capacity. Mid-Max by equaling equip power to reactor power.
A single beam, yes, but when you have 2 or 3 the numbers add up. If your auto-beam does 34 hull and 34 shield, but your allowed equip power for it is half you're only going to do half dmg with that beam. If you have 3 auto beams that do the same but your equip power is half, then after the addition of those numbers your power in that slot of weapons is halved. This is a theory still, but you can kind of see it in the shield and engine logic as they give straight numbers when you half them. If my engines added up are 6 power max, and I half the power to 3 and my base speed is 214, I will go 107 base speed at half power. All of this is assuming the weapons work with the same math.
Very clever build. The brain trust at Bethesda nerfed the fuck out of PBO-175. Slight increase to damage and massive decrease in range. Went from 3899 to 3000.
I built this. Its crazy.. I just fly around Serpentis on very hard taking on whatever shows up. Unless i get three ships at the same time thing thing just melts them.. I tried to capture a few and OOPS…. Trigger happy fingers blew em up LOL fun little fighter.. it’s basically my Razorleaf now

Loving your content as always buddy. How about a video regarding the cheapest way to level up Starship Design. For example use Frontier or steal a random A Class and want to add to get to rank 2. Then scrap and what to get to 3 and 4. Cheap is the key.
I am surprised to see you outside of Fallout 76 my friend...... I am glad you are is this game as it is sort of like Fallout 76 and Eve Online combined IMO And since you asked what we think I think thoughts..... No but really, I think it needs a bed so I can heal since I run overencumbered just like I do in Fallout 76 :)
I was able to extend the design of the ship backwards a few meters to remove the bottom layer so it's not as tall, making the whole thing more streamlined. Mobility stays the same, ship builder says speed dropped from 180 to 150, in-flight speeds drop to 230 without boost, 933 with boost. More than enough speed for me to justify the nicer design.
for some reason I do not see the 104DS reactor nor the Exterminator 95mev Auto on my end. I followed this guide to the dot. while I was able to get everything else, those were the two things that was different, so I had to settle for whatever was second best. I am level 55+ and have maxed Starship Design + Piloting just for insurance. is my game bugged or am I missing something? edit: problem was I wasn't level 60. hitting level 60 wass when I got everything to show.

viking cockpits have better stats, but the 1st person view is so limiting that i can't personally use it.

The Freestar Ranger quest reward ship is probably the fastest one you can get with that spec
You don't need a specific build for that. All you need is a pair of EM weapons, so you can reliably disable the engines without blowing up the whole ship.
This ship has so much power, you could swap out a couple of them for EM weapons. That is my plan.

By instead using the less heavy Viking CP-100 Cockpit and the 500 He3 Fuel Tanks, I was able to save quite a bit of Mass. Plus gain more crew as it allows 4 crew stations instead of 2 and only weighs 4 Mass. This allowed me to upgrade to the more powerful Helios 400 Grav Drive, add some "Structural" items to make it look cooler and still come in at 510 Mass with full speed.

It suits me fine and I only used the bay that gives you two crew as I leave all those idiots stewing in their juice at the Lodge. I love running bounty missions as a stealth player and with my outpost making me skill points I have plenty of those so yep, all those goody two shoe companions are left at the lodge. First mission I picked up the key to gain access to the guy we rescued who had the artifact on his windshield and Sarah was giving me hell for picking up junk. I cannot stand to be in the same room with the one called Barrett. what a bunch of idiots.
Great fighter ship for those like me who love going it solo and it simply melts everything in its path.

Really a compact and powerful beauty, have spend hours with the shipbuilder an A with B parts fit pretty together.
Unfortunately lot of the parts are level locked. The reactor is lvl. 60, Engines need starship design 4. But stil the ship is great, even at lower levels.
This is the info I needed...couldn't figure out why I couldn't find the reactor 😂
There are a lot of very good parts after Class C, locked at higher levels and has extremely good energy efficiency for their mass... (Slayton engines especially).
Yeah I waited a few days and ground out the XP till I had Starship Design 2, but it was worth it.
Nothing that glitches can't fix😉 (btw I don't use them, I just say that with glitches, you can achieve it without the perks.)
Thank you so much for this video. 95% of the ship videos right now on UA-cam are people showing off their gigantic ships. I really appreciate someone like you trying your best to build a ship that is small and deadly. In nature, there are many creatures that have tiny bodies but are extremely deadly, the first thing that comes to my mind is the "Blackwidow Spider." The Blackwidow spiders are barely larger than an adult's fingernail, but one bite from this tiny thing could easily kill a full-grown adult. What level do you need for the "Ship Design" skill in order to build this ship?

Black Widows are not that deadly, they get kind of a bad rap. I like your analogy though, there's lots of dangerous things that come in small packages.

@@CallMeMrX a Brown Recluse however is extremely deadly and very small. The Black Widow can be deadly if medical attention is not sought out within a timely manner. Or if it's not available at all.
@@fdjw88 I'm sure by now you have tried to ghetto make the build with inferior gear, the weapon combination is really a key element. Level 60 is the melt zone but you can smash a lot of ships until you get there.
I absolutely love this ship thanks for making this video angry turtle I made a slight improvement to it aswell because there was 1 slot remaining so I added a conduction grid to reduce EM damage by 50% and increased shield regeneration by 25%

I'm lvl 40 and just started fighting in lvl 75 systems and above and still using a modified Star Eagle so still in the learning process and trying to figure out wether to make my ship a higher class or building a new one.
This video was very helpful and I learned 2 very helpful things which wasn't very obvious in regards to dogfighting;
1. Use thruster function ( one of the bumpers on xbox) to position your ship easier at high speed. I often end up in a circle chase with the enemy trying to get them in my crosshair while taking unnecessary damage.
2. Boosting towards them while firing in a hit and run manner sems to mitigate alot of damage to your ship.
I will try and impliment these techniques in the future so thank you
Responding to my own comment just to give some update on my progress in learning to dogfight;
Thruster function is incredible. Basically gives you the ability to strafe around an enemy while firing at it without it hitting you or atleast dissipating alot of the damage you would have been taking.
I took out the Blattodea and it's companions with this strat, albeit on normal difficulty but still... way better than my previous attempt
My class B Ship is nearly identical, but I took maxed Missiles in the third slot with just a couple points, and I also took the class B 1500 shield. I also bumped up the cargo to 2k because it made very little difference, and I have a Bed in mine, because apparently I can't go more than 25 minutes without needing to be 'rebuffed' by my companion. LOL. I also ran 2 and 3 engines, and it was still devastating no matter that combination I used.

I have a question for you as I am thinking of changing my weapons combo and would like your opinion of what is the absolute best combo if credits and levels are not an issue: I currently have the following 1. Atlatl 280C Missile Launcher, 2.MKE-9A Auto Gauss Gun and 3. Obliterator 250 MeV Alpha Turret, Is this a good combo? Obviously for me hull and crew are important. What do you suggest?

The Vanguard autoprojector obliterators are insane. Only weapon in the game that only takes 2 power, but has incredibly good DPS on both hull and shield that can last a LONG time as weapons with more DPS don't show up until you're much higher level.

25k? hehe just dump it all in the safe in the lodge with the power of a bag of holding aka it's limitless. If you do the Corporate faction quest in Neon you will also get and office with similar shame the UC questline's mansion you get doesn't have one or the Ranger one or Vanguard.
Followed this and tweaked it a little as my character didn't have enough levels for everything, but great little ship and a good guide thanks! Another tip if people don't like the small / no cargo, is to dump all your resources into the 'infinite' tool boxes in the basement of the Lodge, I used the one directly in opposite of a workbench. Then just transfer everything in there, and back into your inventory when crafting, and vice-versa. Then you don't need 5000 or more cargo on the ship. Ok it's a bit more hassle, but I much prefer smaller more powerful ships to the C class monsters.

You have 10 ship slots, no need to have a 1 ship fits all. Big barely armed cargo ship, a science ship(crafting), Luxury yacht, lazy let the turrets do the fighting, dedicated fighter... ship types galore that will make you wish you had 100 slots(there's a console command for that lol "SetGS uSpaceshipMaximumOwnedSpaceships 100" without quotes).
As for that little fighter, I suggest using the Deimos wings, I think they look better than those rounded ones.

I think regular particle beams are better. With full power, you can get close to the fire rate of auto beams, but you dont have to wait for reloads as they reload between each shot
The reason the autos end up being better for a quick fighter like that is because you can have 1 power to them and have full fire rate and have full engine and shield. Not much will be left after the first volley, and if there is, you're fast enough to get away with plenty of shields left. I use 1 set of regular and 2 sets auto just in case I get stuck in a sustained fight.

Your design made me really examine what's going on with my own ship. I couldn't figure out why you were getting such a dramatically better performance out of your ship. I knew it had to do with mass. You worked this ship to be as small as possibly, but mine's no giant. I was looking for it to be as compact as possible within reason. Somehow, my mass was still Double your's. After looking at those engines you're using, i realized that difference in mass compared to mine was nearly 50 for each! So, back to the drawing board. It's a shame. I chose the ones i did mostly for looks.
I realized it doesn't matter as long as the top speed is at 180 and mobility is at 100 then your maxed... only way to get faster is with the engine perks that increase speed. He must have put like 4 point into that skill, lol. EVry thing on this game is just skill points lol.
@@xdarthpool6463 Yeah, we're all just kinda figuring this out. Seems like the bigger component is your crew. I kicked Sam out because i was fed up with the constant repeat banter and lost about 65 in speed. I guess i just need earplugs for space travel.
Whatever the bonuses from either skills or from crew, Turtle definitely still put together the most efficient and therefore powerful ship. You can certainly match the performance with a bigger ship by compensating with more engine, but you have to divert more power to get it. This little ship is only using 6 power to get that performance, leaving that much more to go to weapons and shields. I finally made my own version of this ship, way different looking (I'm a taiyo fan), but the mass and weapons are identical. It's way stronger than my main ship because of all that extra power available.
They all stop freaking out when you go the way of Piracy after a certain event in the main story I found, still him and Cora babbling on but learnt to block it out and I kicked him too and lost too much space from Cargo so put him back with Vasco, Andrea and Gideon. Learning that Leadership which I needed for Ship Command does very little if anything for Space combat which as you can guess I found to be pretty damned sucky!@@fud1238

Dogstar 28t Defender sheild generator is class B, 1500 health & 7% regen... has 20 more mass though.
I followed u and made a downgraded version of yours bc I wasn't high enough starship engineering but it didn't matter the combat is the same mines just a little slower than yours it's my new favorite ship I named it The Black Pearl and it truly lives up to its name I just shredded the crimson fleet one go thanks a ton 🤙💪💪
I built this thing a while back and it's legit nuts. I added a couple conduction grids and a comms spike for increased shields and targeting.

Yeah...The blueprints were a bit stained, and they installed the wrong Nova 2x1 Control at Titan. Barrett and I managed to get Lift and picked on some Crimson. I opened fire on some friendlies while drinking my space mud. Barrett yelled, 'Oh SHEETS!', as my weapons ripped two ships by mistake. We looked at each other and nodded in agreement, then wiped out the other five friendlies and hauled it to Sol Earth where we found a bounty on our head for 105,800 credits. Barrett looked at me, opened his wallet and said, 'I got this'. We sat at the bar shaking without a single word...The only thing I could think was, there is now a God Mode.

Nice, but I think a more balanced ship with some cargo space isn't gong to matter much when you have shields at over 1400. I'm doing fine with the Star Eagle's stock shields and engines. All I did to it was add two fuel tanks at the rear tucked in on each landing gear, different reactor, and better Grav Drive to give me a 29 light year jump distance. This is increased by adding skill points. Over 800 plus shields in the stock Star Eagle is plenty. I am at level 2 in shields which adds 20 percent. I have 2500 cargo space right now, 5 crew spots and three levels. None of the Starborn ships have taken me down yet, nor any of the Crimson Fleet....or anyone!!
Which difficulty level though? I am on normal this play through and have a really tanky thing with 1950 Shields 3500 mass and 2k Hull 850+ Missiles and even with all that I found the Crimson PIrate space battle somewhat challenging vs the Vigilance had to boost far too many times for my liking considering the whopping huge shield and hull there still made it through but took far more damage than I was happy with for a normal difficulty run.
The biggest legend this side of the settled systems.
Unfortunately I have to wait till im lvl 60 to buy the 104ds reactor but running 102ds with almost everything (had to step down the 95MeV Eradicator to a 75MeV but still it melts ships.) I can get almost 3 ships in a single 4000m joust and with a max boost speed of 860 till you can get the 3015 engines. Very mean she really is a beast of a machine! Thank you Angry Turtle!

Very insightful build! Can this idea being scaled up to a max sized C class ship? something that can tank a 3v1 situation? I'm guessing the weapon mechanics and its limitation requires a different approach for a C class ship.
C class will not be stronger, you will just have bigger ship with cargo, I tested this Ship solo vs crimson fleet on very hard, I won ;)
Just use the obliterators as a main weapon, then add auto turrets facing each side & behind, get the best shield & reactor you can fit. Then power down your engine to minimal like 1 or 2 points, shields to maximum, obliterators to maximum and whatever is left for the auto-turrets. Worry about one ship at a time, hit the boost if enemy locks on missiles, and leave the turrets to shoot other enemies.
@@angryturtlegaming nice...I failed to design on a larger vessel -ran into weapon power for some reason...I'm a novice so it's probably an easy fix.
What level is your character to unlock most of these parts?

How did you push your cruise speed to 280, when the max is 180? I know engine skill gives speed bonus but even at max skill it won't give you a 64% increase. Do you also have Sam Coe in your crew too?

A word of warning after the latest patch (Sept 25 2023). The Vanguard Obliterator weapon is borked. If you add it to a ship the ship disappears underground. I tried to add it at Hopetech and had the same issue.
Havent verified this problem. I built my version two days ago with no problem.

wish it was a little more aesthetically pleasing, the one landing gear doesnt look like it could support the weight of the whole ship but i get this build is more function over form and its really fun to fly around so fast
Are the Vanguard weapons part of a quest line? I do not have those in the weapon list for my character.
you need to do first mission for vanguard
Big tip for everyone building ships. Pay attention to your Reactor and Equip power. If your Equip power is higher than your Reactor power you will not be taking full advantage of your ship's capabilities e.g. weapons will not be full strength, engines will not hit max speed, shields will not be full capacity. Mid-Max by equaling equip power to reactor power.
auto beams need only about 3-4 bars
A single beam, yes, but when you have 2 or 3 the numbers add up. If your auto-beam does 34 hull and 34 shield, but your allowed equip power for it is half you're only going to do half dmg with that beam. If you have 3 auto beams that do the same but your equip power is half, then after the addition of those numbers your power in that slot of weapons is halved.
This is a theory still, but you can kind of see it in the shield and engine logic as they give straight numbers when you half them. If my engines added up are 6 power max, and I half the power to 3 and my base speed is 214, I will go 107 base speed at half power.
All of this is assuming the weapons work with the same math.
@YooNecro auto beams do full damage no matter how much power they have. Power only affects the reload.

Very clever build. The brain trust at Bethesda nerfed the fuck out of PBO-175. Slight increase to damage and massive decrease in range. Went from 3899 to 3000.
I built this. Its crazy.. I just fly around Serpentis on very hard taking on whatever shows up. Unless i get three ships at the same time thing thing just melts them.. I tried to capture a few and OOPS…. Trigger happy fingers blew em up LOL fun little fighter.. it’s basically my Razorleaf now

How about a video regarding the cheapest way to level up Starship Design.
For example use Frontier or steal a random A Class and want to add to get to rank 2. Then scrap and what to get to 3 and 4. Cheap is the key.
I am surprised to see you outside of Fallout 76 my friend...... I am glad you are is this game as it is sort of like Fallout 76 and Eve Online combined IMO And since you asked what we think I think thoughts..... No but really, I think it needs a bed so I can heal since I run overencumbered just like I do in Fallout 76 :)
I was able to extend the design of the ship backwards a few meters to remove the bottom layer so it's not as tall, making the whole thing more streamlined. Mobility stays the same, ship builder says speed dropped from 180 to 150, in-flight speeds drop to 230 without boost, 933 with boost. More than enough speed for me to justify the nicer design.
You have the use the exact same engine as he did to get 180 top speed, that is the only engine in the game that is faster than 150.

for some reason I do not see the 104DS reactor nor the Exterminator 95mev Auto on my end. I followed this guide to the dot. while I was able to get everything else, those were the two things that was different, so I had to settle for whatever was second best. I am level 55+ and have maxed Starship Design + Piloting just for insurance. is my game bugged or am I missing something?
edit: problem was I wasn't level 60. hitting level 60 wass when I got everything to show.
I'm not level 60 yet, but, from what I've read, the last ship parts unlock at level 60. You might just have to grind up a bit more.

intresting thing about turrets. If 4 or 8 turrets look backward, you can destroy everything while runing without turning. (eng is awful, i know )
