    Christine Love's talk changed my VN dev-ing for the better. As you guys mentioned, that part about making sure there's a change every line is *chefs kiss*

      I was taking notes when I heard that one.

      That does seem to be quite difficult to do? Changes to what? The visible sprite, the background?

      @@FabioKun a visual change somewhere on screen, usually the spriite- it's not difficult (maybe a little tedious, but I've never found it /difficult/)- the tip's more about reframing ensuring the "visual" part of the visual novel isn't made secondary

    Interesting interview and pretty helpful.
    Definitely learned some stuff I should be implementing into my own visual novel. Gotta say your tutorials are really great for starting developers.
    Gotta say one of the hardest things as a solo developer it's incredibly hard to stick to a release schedule.
    Also, happy new year to you.

    Awesome video ^^ I also have a renpy question.
    I was thinking of making a game that bassicly uses a fake livestream chat where the player can type in text and based of what they typed
    something happened in the livestream. A game with similar idea is called feedvid.
    Would something like this be possible in renpy? Like if you type the word “Hi” the fake livestream would say hi back by playing a video or something.

    • @vimi
      @vimi  Рік тому

      I don't see why not? The most complicated aspect, I imagine, would be making a text parser that checks for certain keywords, which you'd have to get into some python scripting for that function.

    Thanks for the advice. After watching several of your videos I had a doubt: is it possible to remove the Quick Save and the Auto Save?

    • @vimi
      @vimi  Рік тому +2

      You can change the autokeys and in-game menus so that the user can't access that functionality.

    hey,i’ve been trying to look everywhere on the internet and i can’t find a tutorial about this so if you (or anyone else) knows how to do this please help:
    i want the pupils of the character on my title page to follow the cursor (example would be like if the cursor moves to the right,the pupils do,if they move to the left)
    so yea,help lol

    • @vimi
      @vimi  Рік тому +1

      I'm not sure how to go about that, either!
      You could probably get CLOSE to it with invisible hover images set up on a grid, which on hover will change the state of the pupil to move to that general area, but if you want a 1:1 movement, try asking on the Ren'py Discord; it's probably going to involve some python code!!!

    I'd love to see a video about how Doki Doki Literatuee Club did all that stiff with the game files, really just how they remove and add files while you go through the game (Like Sayori.chr disappearing and Hxppythxughts.png [or whatever it's called] appearing suddenly)
