Cheers David for taking the time to film the show for us it was great to watch and get a close up of the Tamiya and kyosho stands and see sone of the new releases in action :)
Wow totally awesome event! So many incredible builds every were you look in there❤ an the drive there through those tunnels also really cool 🎉 thanks so much for letting us come along 😀 ❤
Yes, there was so much to see! I think I shot well over an hour of footage at the hobby show alone. But felt it would be better to edit it down into a more watchable thirty minutes. 😊
Wow that 1980 Kyosho Land Jump 4D looks awesome. So good to see Kyosho still displaying some of these rare vintage 1/8th GP buggies. To think that was released all the way back in 1980.
Great Work David. Thanks for taking the time. Would love to make it to one of these one day. I'd have to get a shipping container to bring everything home though!
Thank you David, a superbly deatiled and well shot piece. Not seen this leel of detail on the Kyosho range before. Thanks ever so much for your work and translation.
Thanks! The Tamiya HQ is not as extensive as it used to be. In the past they sold off a lot of stock at low prices and they also allowed visitors onto the roof where you could try out various rc models, including their tanks. None of that this time around...
@@KaiCityRC 👍😊At least it is open to public now on special occasions. I wanted to visit it the last time I was in Japan but it was closed due to new pandemic restrictions.
That was a nice watch, thanks for sharing this with us! I think of course for me the most interesting was seeing the BBX jump, looks very good. I didn't plan to get one soon, but might change my mind, ha ha...
I missed this mate . Great video . Really enjoyed the car journey . Reminded me of the Italy. Great show and footage . Really cool . Yeah would love the bbx . I like the Little car flap they had for the entry/ exit . What a fascinating country Japan is . One day I’ll visit . I grew up playing all the Japanese video games in the 80’s and it’s fascinated me ever since .
Awesome vid. I did stop off once in Shizuoka and went on a pilgrimage to the Tamiya factory. I wish it was on an open day though. That new Tamiya buggy is looking very interesting.
There wasn't much in the way of things to buy. Tamiya's Open House event was scaled back considerably compared to the last time I was there. In the past they sold a wide range of discounted items, but this time it was mostly original goods - sticks, t-shirts etc. There were a few odd items for sale by the various manufacturers at the Hobby Show, but nothing really of note. I already have the BBX on pre-order. 😁
Yes! ABC Hobby make some wonderfully detailed bodies, mainly older Japanese cars, but others too. The quality and realism is very high. A long time ago I ran their Genetic Chassis fitted with a Mugen Fit body and Sunny Truck. 👍
Comical Hornet! I remember the orig Hornet, think it was one step above my first RC car the Grasshopper - which was bottom of the tier...but still super cool for me. Then my buddy got the Fox :(
Grasshopper and Hornets maybe on the cheaper side, but they are plenty fun!! 👍👍 I'm having such a good time running mine in the local race series. Been busy with Hopper mods this weekend too. 😁 The Hornet, Grasshopper and Frog that appear in the Tamiya demo are the Tamtech Gear Series on the GB-01 chassis. 😊 They've been around for a while (I have the 27mhz Frog version from back in the mid 2000's). These newer ones can be run on regular double AA batteries, or so they said. The clay model at Tamiya HQ was an early version of the Comical Hotshot I believe. Though the chassis was the 2WD version.
Vintage Series. I can't think of any of my Kyosho's I'd be willing to give up for a BBX. The BBX looks to be a very appealing combination of retro and modern. Up close it looks really good and I was impressed with how well it jumped in the limited demo I saw. But as nice as it is, it doesn't have the nostalgia that the vintage series has. 🙂 Nevertheless, I have one on pre-order! 😁
They're going to sell out the bbx it's going to sell out real fast pre-order they're going to have to make a ton more in there going to be a waiting list again that's I think this going to sell extremely well.
They probably will. Do you know the pre-order price over there? By the time you have got your motor, ESC, radio set and servo it is going to be quite a high price, especially if you want to go brushless. In UK, the brushless spec bundles with everything you need to get running are over 500 GBP.
Cheers David for taking the time to film the show for us it was great to watch and get a close up of the Tamiya and kyosho stands and see sone of the new releases in action :)
Thanks for watching! The highlights for me were getting to meet Kogawa San and seeing the BBX in action.

Great video, I've has a scorcher, still have the monster beetle and a QD monster beetle,, blitzer is on the way
Thanks! 😊 The Quick Drive Monster Beetle is not something you see very often now! Pretty rare RC.
Wow so nice any shops we can use to buy tv cars from Australia 🇦🇺 any links ??

That new Tamiya buggy is looking very interesting.
Thank you! The BBX is generating a lot of interest, and for good reason. It looks awesome and seems like it will perform pretty good too.
I wonder what the shocks were on the bbx with the front wheel off. They kind of look like b4 or b5 shocks? This video made me per-order one.
They're Tamiya Big Bore Aeration Dampers. I have them on my TT-02B. They are pricey, but very good.
Thank you for the effort. Well worth it. Did you buy or order anything? :-)

does anyone know if this event is held every year and in the same location? trying to find into on the 2024 show
The Shizuoka Hobby Show is held every year in May at the same location. 👍 I don't believe the dates for 2024 have been announced, yet.
@@KaiCityRC thank you so much...trying to book flights!
I like the look of the BBX without the body. And did that Dirt Master option parts display show a hard plastic wing?
Yes, it seems the Dirt Master can use the same hard plastic wings the Javelin (and other Vintage Series buggies) use.

8.28 mk1 looks interesting.
LC40👌
BBX is preordered 😉
Still waiting for the dirt master to be released in Australia 😢
Is the BBX a rereleased or a complete new platform from the ground up?
The BBX is the first buggy on a completely new chassis from Tamiya, the BB-01. 👍

The drift Mini Z are very cool! 😎
Hope you picked Kogawa brain and asked him some questions

BBX vs Kyohso Vintage Series? What would you go for?
Vintage Series. I can't think of any of my Kyosho's I'd be willing to give up for a BBX. The BBX looks to be a very appealing combination of retro and modern. Up close it looks really good and I was impressed with how well it jumped in the limited demo I saw. But as nice as it is, it doesn't have the nostalgia that the vintage series has. 🙂

They stop selling the CC 01?
I don't think so...but they are focusing on the CC-02 chassis now.
I think the the mb01 awards are going to sell well I think they're very interesting.
Just imagine them painting rc cars.

They should make true original they should make the sand rover and the Holliday buggy make that way again back in the day.
