Love your voice btw, I got the 1st stage started today! It’s drying. I can’t wait for it all to be done but I’m having a good time doing it, thanks for making a video so easy to follow.
Omg! I just found your channel, and I've been binging previous ups (I found you on my thread after watching a few DIY cement orb tutes.) You, sir, give me life! I love that you show the actual process - mistakes (learning opportunities) and all! I *need* to see that realness, because it's so easy to become disheartened when trying DIY's and they don't turn out the way one expected, or they're no where near as easy as DIYers make it look (because they've edited the shit out of their tutes.) Thank you soooo much for showing the reality of what DIY actually is; a learning and practising process. Much love, from Australia xx
Hahaha! So happy to bring joy to you even with my included mistakes. I suppose I leave them in for all the reasons and yes mainly to keep people going knowing that creativity is imperfect. These projects are supposed to be fun and I try to keep it elevated even when I’m a little burnt out or mess it up. Have a beautiful day!
I love your videos and creative energy. I started a yoga ball sphere today. I am so excited. Please wear protective gear when making instruction videos. Breathing in cement dust is horrible, even small amounts. I teach middle school ceramics. I encourage everyone to wear a dust mask at least. Goggles and gloves are also very important. Good luck. I will keep watching your videos. Thanks! ❤
Thanks for watching and best to you on your project. PPE is totally important and I’ve slacked sometimes and suffered for it, so I appreciate the reminder. Take care and let me know how it turns out!
@CADEmade thanks for the response. It is outside drying. I can't wait to put on the final layers! The suspense of how it will turn out is keeping me awake. Yikes, I want to make more!
Amazing tutorial again at the perfect time! I was just watching your previous video on concrete spheres so I could create them as a base for my coffee table! Your tutorial is the best out there and I’m happy to say the project is turning out great so far. :) Now I’m off to buy grout to seal the orbs as you did!
Wow thank you so much. Using this idea to create a table base is awesome! Best to you in your creative process. The grout was such a serendipitous idea which I am very happy worked as well as it did for sealing the orb and adding permanent pigmented color. There are so many color options with grout as well. I personally preferred the “sanded grout” for the added surface texture, whereas the “unsanded grout” is very smooth to the touch. Take utmost care and have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Cade! Fun, messy project! Had one minor hitch. I flipped my globe over to cover the bottom and didn't put mesh in that spot(error one) I put a thin layer of concrete and left it in the sun to dry... Was such a pretty day... (Error two). Should have remembered my science 101 class! Gas expands in heat and contracts in cold. So my beach ball did what it was supposed to and expanded and cracked the bottom of my globe. Guess my first mistake was not to inflate the ball. That might have helped. End of story, a few messy slathering of concrete and my globe is just fine. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Sallie thank you that’s so kind to say. Hoping to make more videos now that I have completed a few big projects and now onto the details and fun stuff.
Awesome video! I think I might’ve used a larger container under the sphere for water because I think it will evaporate fast. But I could be wrong since it is in the shade and you probably water those plants quite often. Love your channel keep it up!
Hello there thank you so much for the comment. The reservoir worked pretty well actually. I purchased it before I made the sphere and I was also a little concerned but it did work well. Yes the plant watering helped keep it up. Thanks for watching and more videos coming soon
I found it on the side of the road funny enough. You can buy wire rings for making wreaths which also work at the craft store. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.
Sorry for the delay. I’m guessing a 500gph pump would suffice. You can’t use a small pump though it should be more than a serenity fountain size. You can adjust flow so bigger is better in this case
Hi-love this video. How long did you allow the first layer to dry before adding additional layer of cement? I just tried to do this and did not work; had to start over and can't figure out what I did wrong.....
I left it to dry for probably 36hrs in the heat of the summer. It should sound like a clay pot when you tap on it… sorta hollow sounding. Thanks for watching and hope this helped a little. Best to you in your sphere creating
Hello there! Not entirely certain how long it will last but you should get many years out of it outside. I turn off the fountain in the winter so as long as it’s bits saturated with water it won’t crack. The acrylic bonding adhesive is key…. Best of luck creating!
@@CADEmade thanks for the reply! I guess I just didn’t understand why you used grout instead of just the concrete mixture for the last layer. I’m glad you filmed all this! I am going to make a small one first and see how it goes.

I promise I’m all good thank you for the concern ☺️. There has been some life stuff and projects underway, but I am editing my next video and it should be up in the near future. Take care yourself it’s so kind that you wrote this.

Absolutely! Hope it turned out great. If you’re able send me a photo on instagram @cademadedesign have a wonderful day!

Awww that’s so kind. Thank you and have a
Beautiful day.
LOVE, love your big ball!!! LOL! A great project for the garden, thank you for making this available for us!

Seal. The. Orb.
Must seal the orb

Oh my! What an adventure. I love problem solving amidst making art. Thank you for sharing and I’m so happy you made one! Be so well!
Please make more videos😊 I keep looking😊
Thank you! More to come, life has been full and has been extending my video lull. Clearing space for new projects though. See ya soon!
Nice. Saw this fountain your landscape video and was wondering where you got it. I will now have to try and make my own. Thanks for the how to video
It’s a fun project for sure. There a lot of steps but the result is cool and dramatic. Have fun and thanks for watching
Beautiful again!!! I may try this just as a feature but without the fountain ...i think it will look great with the other size spheres ..thank you
Yes totally. I basically have a sphere Garden now.lol
Nice job
Thanks!
I just love all your videos and I hope you make many more!

Beautiful I love it
Beautiful and satisfying! Where do I get the ring you used on top?
I found it on the side of the road funny enough. You can buy wire rings for making wreaths which also work at the craft store. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.
Awesome !!!
Love this! Can’t wait to try making one☺️
So cool! Looks great! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for orbing with me!
I saw your video where you used basketball sized balls and thought I could do that with yoga balls...but didn't imagine one could make a fountain!
It was suggested and I just went with it!
This is fantastic!! Yayyy
Amazing ❤
New follower great videos!! ❤
Thank you!
What size pump did you use for this? I’m almost finished making mine.
Sorry for the delay. I’m guessing a 500gph pump would suffice. You can’t use a small pump though it should be more than a serenity fountain size. You can adjust flow so bigger is better in this case
I am in the orbit keeping it light & keeping it fun
You are and thank you so much for your help making this video come full 360.
Do you think a person could add indented circles to the orb while it is wet to make it look like a golf ball?
It’s completely playable while it’s wet… kinda like clay.
Will it hold some weight? I wanna make table legs out of it
Totally
What is the base that it is sitting on made of? Lampshade?
It is, but I ended up sitting the orb on bricks because the metal wasn’t strong enough

How's this holding up with the water and all on it?
Honestly it’s held up great!
Sehr schön
Here’s a flash, your acrylic bonding, adhesive, is white glue diluted. Yep that’s exactly what it is.
Nice thanks for the info
Hi Cade,
How long does this sphere last in the garden in zone 6 Michigan?
Hello there! Not entirely certain how long it will last but you should get many years out of it outside. I turn off the fountain in the winter so as long as it’s bits saturated with water it won’t crack. The acrylic bonding adhesive is key…. Best of luck creating!
Is all the stuff you used bird safe?
I honestly don’t know, But guessing yes. I watched a robin do a spa day in there the other day. Hope this helps!
Sitting here drinking a martini wishing it was next to that orb!
Oh how I love your martinis… come over quick!
I’m wondering about your other spheres from your previous video. Did you seal those?
Hello! Thanks for the question. I did seal those but with the concrete and not the sanded grout.
@@CADEmade thanks for the reply! I guess I just didn’t understand why you used grout instead of just the concrete mixture for the last layer. I’m glad you filmed all this! I am going to make a small one first and see how it goes.

The grout was essentially just for the color pigment.
will you make this and sell it?
Yes absolutely
It could be a cat bed also.
I’ve never thought of that but yes it could be! Lol
Come back. Make more videos. I do hope you are okay.

@CADEmade wonderful. I'm glad you are well. Life can get in the way! Take care and thanks for all the videos.
Who would believe portland cement is hard to find.
I honestly thing all lowes and Home Depot’s has Portland cement as it is a common building material. Good luck!
@@CADEmade huge shortage. It’s lucky if you find it.
